Is Sakura wars V worth playing?
I can't remember if the wii version removed the opening Song or not
All I remember about the Wii version is that it doesn't have the one of the dubs while the PS2 version has both Japanese and English.

Learn Japanese and play the first 4 (or use a translation guide).
I love the series, but honestly Ogami is a much better player character, and the story of the first 4 (if you can understand it) is better in my opinion. Plus the 1-4 have best girl.
