This felt like a bunch of VR missions. The cut scenes had a very sterile, clinical feel that I'm finding in a lot of games recently. It's mostly in menus but sometimes non playable parts too. It's hard to describe, but it feels cheap.
Finding the odd track and infiltrating somewhere for the first time was generally fun, but most of the game was bad. No reason for it to be open world. Just like every game ever.

I think I would have just preferred several Ground Zeroes sized-maps. The 'open map' style thing added a lot more depth to the gameplay in my opinion, but:
>the worlds are way too big
>most of Afghan is literal linear canyons
>you can't fucking helicopter around the maps like you can in MB
Ground Zeroes seemed to nail it, Phantom Pain seemed to take five steps backwards.
