>>332694060
Yeah, the enemies certainly seemed scant. Genestealers, and by extension their broodlord, are certainly dangerous when they reach close combat, but the true threat is supposed to be the sheer numbers they send your way, as well as the hidden pockets they wait to ambush you from. I don't mind 3 terminators easily defeating a lone broodlord, but it should be a broodlord surrounded by 20+ genestealers at full sprint.I'm actually really excited about the hybrids. They do their part perfectly in the footage, using shitty stubbers that at least force you to waste attention aiming at them while genestealers rush you. To think that the devs decided to include the hybrids years before GW even annouced that hybrids are still canon with Deathwatch: Overkill. Even that Happy Jose video from last year has him questioning the frenchie "Are the hybrids even canon anymore?" Also, they announced multiple types (generations) of hybrids. Based french nerds.

>>332701125
>Why does everything have to be fucking Space Marines?
Because 40k fanboys legitimately have no taste and the GW's writers are constantly engaged in a giant Space Marine circlejerk (which is why for example eldar codexs are about them being curbstomped by Space Marines everywhere they go and how some lone space marine punches an avatar into unconciousness then drowns him in a river of shit) It's like how Khorne is the most popular Chaos faction despite being fucking boring as shit red Space Wolves.
Doesn't help that every fucking starter kit out there is space marines and space marines are legitimately the most overpowered 40k race gameplay wise as well (3+ saves, cheap as shit, heavy weapons out the ass for essentially no cost). Yes other races can dominate, but only in very specific situations, a mediocre space marine player can take down a skilled Tau or Eldar or whatever player with not that much trouble.
>>332702858
SAY THAT TO MY FACE, MOTHERFUCKER!
>>332690258
The start was great then she put on a deep retarded voice and ruined it
The song in the trailer is modelled after bullfight songs. Kinda makes sense when you think about it.
The air around you crackles and fizzes with arcane energies as you materialize into a cacophony of explosions and clouded dust swirls around you. As the haze in your field of vision clears, the HUD in your Tactical Dreadnought Armor helmet begins to track multiple buildings and shapes in front of you, Chaos cultists of Slaanesh judging by their garments and iconography, and you take a half-moment to flex your left hand and feel the satisfying thrum of your powerfist before unleashing the Emperor's Judgment on the poor fools standing before you.
You immediately pause when you start to process the full scene, and realize that all of the cultists are baring their nether regions, and were in the process of furiously tugging their genitals when you arrived. An unfamiliar feeling begins to creep into the back of your mind, and you fight the compulsion to take a step backwards away from the amassed group of heretical filth that are howling in hedonistic glee, completely ignorant of your presence.
>>332692941
>Nids look retarded, but that's obviously not Streum's fault.
It very easily could be. A lot of this is probably coming about literally from them going "Just recreate the miniatures in high-detail exactly as they appear", resulting in stupid stuff like a detail on a miniature meant to convey an action, like a tongue constantly flickering in and out, being interpreted as a permanent feature of the creature, giving us these tongue-lolling idiotic looking Genestealers.
Top it off, they've been given a lot of creative leeway with padding out the sorts of enemies for the player to deal with beyond normal purestrain genestealers and stuff like broodlords, and they've squandered it on things like 'regular genestealers with icky glowy pods on their back'. Gee, I wonder what those things do when they get close: explode?
Main concern is enemy variety this is gonna be another vermintide
Are there sub species of genestealer?
>>332694734
>but the true threat is supposed to be the sheer numbers they send your way
I think we're interpreting the data here completely differently.
12,000 Genestealers sure is a lot, but versus 1,000 Space Marines (including a company of 100 veterans, a good portion of which were equipped with Terminator armor), they only left 50 alive.
And these aren't some bumfuck third founding chapter, these are the fucking Blood Angels, the same assholes who will go into a blind blood rage when a heroic last stand is needed - which in the setting of a derelict space hulk, probably happened a LOT.
12 to 1 are the sort of odds that Space Marines are supposed to excel in countering.
>>332704025
There are varying degrees of genestealerness.

You instinctively raise your storm bolter, but you cannot snap free of whatever feeling is growing within you. As your ceramite plated finger begins to pull on the trigger, you again freeze, this time due to the arrival of another target on your helmet's HUD. The image is unmistakable, as a fully corporeal daemonette walks towards you, slowly, sensually, the foul creature's bountiful breasts fully exposed and responding to every step with a concerted, playful bounce.
Centuries of warfare experience kick in, and you ready your bolter's sights on the new threat within an instant. You catch a glimpse of something swaying between the alluring daemon's legs, and although the sight is not unfamiliar in your previous battles against the forces of Chaos, seeing the thick purple member throbbing in the air steals your attention for more than you would normally allow.

You clench your jaw and attempt to quickly recite the Litany Against Fear silently in your mind, but can scarcely finish the half of it before your concentration breaks and you realize the daemonette is now with melee range of you. You try to fight through the haze growing in your mind, and scream at your hand to fire your storm bolter into the heresy before you, but your finger refuses the command. Your mind races for explanation, for resistance, for the familiar instinct of combat and battle to take control and complete the task at hand, but your entire body suddenly feels as if the unsupported weight of your armor were bearing down upon it.
The daemonette slowly reachs out and tenderly claws at your extended arm, her tongue sliding forward and wrapping around the still barrels of your storm bolter. You are immobilized, and rushes of powerful, alien emotions flood your mind and body. You feel a tangible rise in temperature within your suit. The daemon begins to reach up for your helmet, the softest whispers of velvet and dreams traveling from her soft lips in a dark yet soothing voice.

With a gentle tug and a hiss of escaping air, she removes your helmet. In the process of reaching the height of your head, she has nearly completely laid herself against your towering, armored body. You look upon the creature with your now unshielded eyes, and whatever foul force you suspect rendered you defenseless to the situation suddenly seems to intensify.
You see a small, malicious smile grow on the daemon's face, as she retracts her lengthy tongue from your weapon, and begins to send it traveling towards your face. As the very tip of it makes contact with your cheek, you feel a sudden burst of heat and indescribable sensation. So far gone is your focus of battle, that you fail to notice the encircling cultists that have begun to remove your armor section by section.
>>332707276
Oldcrons.
>>332704507
Anon, you are completely misinterpreting it. They killed 12,000 genestealers. How many of them did they not kill? How many were they desperately trying to retreat from? Just because each marine, on average, took down 12 before he fell doesn't mean that's all there was. There are multitudes more than that. A single vessel can hold 20,000+ people before it fuses with hundreds of other similar vessels (space hulks rival the size of small moons). There can be any number of thousands of stealers, daemons, orks, chaos cults, or a combination of them on board.
Secondly, there was a second part I listed in the explanation, which was genestealer ambushes. The old space hulk game used to love demonstrating that, like a terminator firing down a flooding corridor when one bursts through a metal grate behind him and kills him. The story itself says that the BA were doing fine for the first waves of stealers, but then the stealers started using tactics, which would include the cramped, darkened terrain and ambushes. That's when the BA were fucked.
And that's on board a space hulk, which is a dozen times more difficult to navigate than open ground or a city. Have you forgotten how many dozens to hundreds of space marine companies have died trying to cleanse the Ymgarl infestation (all unsuccessfully), which was open ground?
One quick look at >>332695685 shows you what it's like to fight against them on a Space Hulk. Completely outnumbered, and outflanked. Reaching an objective is just a matter of attrition and sacrifice.
>>332706035
And they had better be in Eternal Crusade!

>>332708142
Yeah, they have this weird genetic instability that the Hive Mind worries might infect the rest of the nid species if they reintroduce them. That's the newer lore, anyways, when they wanted to give them separate rules from regular genestealers.
>>332708261
I like it
>>332708261
It bounces from fluffy and fun to memetastic and cringey and back. I enjoy watching it, but I wish it wouldn't have gone so far off the edge with Captain Sicarius, Dorn, etc. since a lot of people use it as an introduction to the lore and now think that's "only a slight exaggeration" from what they are.
>>332707695
The daemonette's tongue continues to caress your face, traveling until it reaches your lips, leaving a trail of utterly irresistable ecstasy and warmth as it moves. Your inner desperation for escape and retribution begins to subside, surrendering to the oppressive force of desire now rising to the front of your mind. You cautiously open your mouth to take a deep, heavy, slow breath, and the daemon exploits the opening as her tongue slides inside of your mouth, wrapping itself around your own tongue.
You begin to give in, and your mind explodes with a firework-pattern of pleasure as you playfully flick your tongue against the daemonette's lips. A sinister, teasing giggle the daemon's mouth, and you feel her hand against your bear chest. You have been completely ignorant to the fact that the cultists have, by now, removed the entirety of your armor. The daemonette slowly and sensually pulls her tongue from mouth and pushes away from you, before slowly turning around and exposing her perfectly round, voluptuous, symmetrical buttocks towards you, looking back at you with a longing desire on her face.

Without the assistance of thought or will, you watch helplessly as your thick muscular arms reach forward and grasp the daemonette by the hips. The sudden act is met with a soft moan of false surprise from the daemon, as she closes her eyes and allows a smile to spread across her face. The daemonette earnestly pushes her rear end against your exposed penis, and begins slowly grinding up and down.
As if in some bizarre dreamlike state, you continue to watch the scene unfold, as your hands move lower until you are fully palming each of the daemonettes unfathomably soft and full butt cheeks. You slowly spread them apart, exposing her tight, inviting, dark purple-hued anus, which begins to dilate and close rythmically with your breathing as the daemonette lowers herself towards your firm member.

The Fallen Angels have no connection to the Space Hulk (either in the board game or this vidya, which is based on it). So no, don't expect any of them in the game.
But yes, the DA do hunt for them pretty much all the time - but since they are a 1st founding legion, they have to do a lot of imperial obligations in between, so they made dozenshundredsof successor chapters to do the hunting for them.

Abaddon will kick his ass. Mephiston doesn't have a ++ save, is only T4. Even with Quickening, Blood Sword and Force he isn't good enough. He would need 3 Initiative to beat Abaddon to the hits and it's unlikely they'll outright kill him.
Abaddon only needs one hit to land and Mephy is dead due to Instant Death.

No. Space Marines are only OP as fuck when they're the protaganoists. They get their asses handed to them when they're the antagonists. It's the same as capeshit.
Hulk can beat Gods when the writers want him to. Yet he regularly gets owned by weaker people and is the cross-over punching bag for Superman. Another example is Squirrel Girl beating Thanos, defeating Galactus and other crap.
In Damocles Crusade and Damocles Warzone, Space Marines were raped by Tau extremely hard.

I'm debating between Battlefleet Gothic or Stellaris.
>>332704761
You have an armour display to show if your legs are damaged or not. So, you go by that. I dunno if the game will say if they're damaged like E.Y.E thou.
However, the last time I played a game that had leg damaging was Operation Flashpoint. If your legs got injured, you should just give up and restart.

>No. Space Marines are only OP as fuck when they're the protaganoists.
Name a single space marine-protagonist game/book/other media that did not involve all space marines except the individual protagonist being slaughtered all over the place? Every book starts with a cast that gets swiftly whittled down to 1-3 survivors by the end. Heck, Grey Knight started with the protag's squad getting butchered to a man, leading to his doubts that nearly lead him to being the first Grey Knight to convert to Chaos.
>>332710469
As the daemonette's anus makes contact with your iron-hard erection, your entire body is flooded with waves of alternating warmth and numbing bliss. The creature lets loose another soft giggle and moan as she begins to increase the pressure and you feel yourself about to penetrate her.
A sudden thundering crack of lightning and wind suddenly yank you back to reality. With your newfound freedom of will and returned senses, you see familiar hulking forms as shadows in a cloud of debris and residual energy ahead of you, behind the mob of cultists and daemon. An entire squad of your battle brothers, all clad in Tactical Dreadnought armor, brandishing thunder hammers and storm shields, have teleported into the midst of the heretical scene.
Without a moment's delay, blurs of motions fill your vision, as the Terminators begin swinging their weapons in large swathes, sending explosive waves of gore and limbs flying in all directions. Within mere seconds, the cultists all lay slaughtered, and the squad's sergeant rounded onto the daemonette, now hissing in raw unbridled spite at the Space Marine. With a single, massive swing, the sergeant brings down his hammer onto the daemon's head, crushing the being into a knee-high pile of pulp and blood.

BFG is more traditional RTS. Stellaris is x4. BFG is fun, but since the beta only had half the factions in it and no campaign, it was difficult to gauge.

Deathwatch: Ignition.
Deathwatch video game.
That's not my point. My point is, Space Marines are insanely powered dudes when the fluff wants them to be. Same as any other faction. You read the Necron Codex and it will have maybe one or two events mentioning a Necron loss, the others will be insane victories. Same shit for every other faction.
If the writers want Space Marines to win the battle, they'll win it. If they don't, they won't. Hence my example of the Tau raping hundreds of Space Marines, millions of IG, tens of thousands of tanks, Knight Titans and so on.

I think Stellaris is out first, no? April the something? I know BFG was delayed till April 21st. With Warhammer Total War delayed till 24th May.
Which is a surprise. SEGA is usually anal about release dates, so either something was really wrong with it, or CA have begged for SEGA for more time so nobody entering the TW series thinks that bugs are some rare thing in Total War (see Rome 2).

You fall to your knees, and you feel strength slowly returning to your powerful body. As you rise up, trying to process the full measure of what had just transpired, you hear the heavy armored footsteps of your battle-brothers approaching. You look up to see the entire squad lined in front of you, expressionless faces of their helmets all looking upon your naked, disarmed form. The cogs of your mind turn, and you grasp the ugly truth; the reality of the heresy you just moments ago became a part of. The sergeant, front and center to you, looks to his left and right, meeting the helmeted gaze of each Terminator, before giving the slightest of nods, and raising his hammer high. You understand what will happen next, and close your eyes, taking in one last deep, fresh, breath of air. You have failed the Emperor, and such failure can be met with only one fate. You open your eyes just in time to see the face of a thunder hammer, advancing towards your skull.

So, stop claiming shit when there is more evidence to suggest they have sex and have penises than don't. Hell, there is one story of a Space Marine falling in love with Slaanesh because he sees him/her/it. Alright, granted. I want to say that doesn't count because they have such small casts to begin with, but I don't want to be overly picky. Deathwatch itself is usually an all or nothing deal anyways, like in D:OK with the previous team being killed but Cassius' surviving. But yeah, I see your point. It doesn't help that the specifics of their ability are fairly amorphous too.
>>332711734
Right. I usually say "are most likely chemically sterile," but slipped this time. I like to think that Salamanders have children. It's not unheard of for a small few of them to go one step farther, even in curiosity.

It's just not a subject that's brought up very often. It's the same meme that SoB don't have sex, yet there is novels of them doing such things. Hell, in the recent Beast Arises series, it talks about a 60 year old female Inquisitor who has regular sex with her bodyguard, who's like 30. It also talks about how the Ecclesiarchy head likes to have sex with young women every night and morning.

They're not overpriced though. If we ignore the fact that a fair price is what the market will pay, which is capitalism at work, they're not more expensive than many others.
Other than Mantic, everything else works out more expensive. GW aren't the best, but they're good price for quality. In 2000, a regular tactical marine box, if applied with inflation, would be £2.50 (so $4 roughly) cheaper. However, in those 16 years, the Marines have been given more options in heads, weapons and shit.
Other than that, you're right. They need to shift models. Which is why Total War: Warhammer has been greenlighted, despite CA wanting to do this for about 15 years.

Not disagreeing with you on the point, but "orgy" has a denotation that is not "sexual orgy." A big, wild party that involves drinking and fighting is an orgy. A bunch of native american indians singing, screaming, and dancing around a fire pit before war is an orgy. Using an orgy to describe a fervent, reckless, and passionate celebration doesn't automatically translate to having sexit doesn't exclude it either, of course.
Just saiyan.

Your bit about ambushes has nothing to do with what I was contesting and actually agrees with what I'm trying to say - the true threat of Genestealers is not the numbers they can throw at you, it's the terrific strength in close quarters and adaptive ambush tactics.

I didn't know that. That's horrifying. That combined with the idea of genestealer cults is pretty bleak.
So you get born as a horrible disfigured mutant but find solace an a cult that grows with similar people like you, until it gets so large that you rebel and take over the planet. Only then do you realise what you've done and the hive fleet descends to consume the now defenceless planet and you get forcibly absorbed back into the biomass.

I know it has. That's the Rogue Trader era stealers, before they were even considered tyranids.
However, to say they are not helplessly inspired by and directly related to the aliens in Alien is wrong. There's a reason why they made the Space Hulk board games around them - literally Alien: The Board Game: 40k Edition.
For anyone wondering why SM's are worth the effort to enhance and modify them and bla bla blah. The only thing the Imperium has that is in abundance and essential free/worthless is human life, so to make a SM, which are extremely valuable, they're elevating human life to a level that they would never otherwise value, so it's absolutely worht the trouble.
>>332717801
Autism is essentially looked for by parents. They beg children to be given the title. It means they can collect money from the gubberment and that any bad behaviour the kid does, can be blamed on autism, rather than the parent actually being a parent.
They also know that if their child fails in education, he'll be cared for by the state via food stamps, housing, benefits and so on. USA has way more benefits and stuff for people than any country in Europe.
>>332717943
I know, I was the guy saying they were inspired by Alien. Not the guy saying it was Lovecraft.

Yea, worse gameplay then space marine. Promises keep changing, the vehicles are limited, no bikes or wolves(at least for launch and they always say at least for launch). They picked pretty lame chaos factions, just spikey marines probably because they are lazy. But they did add 60 vs 60 which is fun
>>332718209
It's also a reliable force you can send against infectous alien species and chaos, as they are educated and also modified by psychosurgery to be utterly devoted. You can't trust your average guardsman or conscript to come back unchanged from battles like that.
Everything you add to a space marines makes the time and money more worth the investment, which in itself makes more investment worthwhile. It also helps you can practically assembly line a marine if you have the geneseed.

I don't know what you're talking about, brother. All Dark Angel, Blood Angel, and Ultramarine successor is completely autonomous and independent of their parent legion. We are Codex compliant and have no authority outside of our individual leg- I mean chapters.
Certainly, our chapter masters don't form Inner Circles with the successors and plot semi-heretical things. And if our homeworld was attacked, we most certainly would not be able to recall every single successor to its defense instantly.
Absolute nonsense, and I say you are heretical for even implying it, brother.

The lore of the Deathwing is that they arrived to find their planet infested with Jean Steelers, so they painted their armour white as they knew they were going to die. They went down, died, but saved the humans there. They explained what happened to DA and the DA took it up to remember them.
In the trailer, they are having a last stand. An "Alamo" moment, if you will. You know, that battle with the MEXICANS. They know they're dead men walking; "I'm walking with a ghost". They know they're already died. Their job is to kill as many as possible and blow up the Space Hulk. Which I believe they do in the fluff, but all die.
That's why it was used. But I'm not surprised periphery 40k '''''''''''''''''''''''''fans''''''''''''''''''''''''''' know nothing of the lore or why things fit.

It's essentially a choice that only works if you know why it fits. It's subtle. They could have used something like that, or some other rock/metal stuff. I think it was a bold and brave choice. It got people talking about the game at the time, so it worked well.
>>332720347
They don't have more than 1000 "in their chapter." The problem is that every Dark Angels successor is under the absolute control of the Dark Angels Chapter Master. The DA made their successors strictly to continue the hunt for the Fallen, and while they put on a show of autonomy for the Inq and the Imperium, all successors will defy orders to listen to the DA themselves (such as The Forgotten Wars (RIP In Piece Lions Sable)).
As for the Ultramarines, each successor "has so much respect" for their parent legion than anyallof them would rally to the call of the Ultramarines Chapter Master, effectively rendering them as a regular legion.
As for the Blood Angels, their home planet is about to be attacked, and when they put out a call for help, literally every single surviving successor chapter (no Lamenters :_;7) rallied to the call and have joined its defense.
>>332720636
Certainly there are better choices, but for 1, they are French and enjoyed the song themselves. And 2) I'm sure that tiny little studio with 1 real game to their name didn't think it would be that big of a deal to put something of their taste in it, so long as it somehow fit the theme they were going for.

>>332720636
I disagree. I think it was a good choice, but that's cause I could see where it was coming from. Furthermore, I believe it was used cause it was free. This is, and remains, and always will be such fucking stupid bullshit.
Every single marine was deployed? They took every last person out of the fucking Phalanx (Mind you, a ship SO FUCKING HUGE that it can hold 12 (TWELVE) of the largest class imperial vessels in JUST its docking bay), the same ship that is full of their history, all of their relics, fuck tons of powerful ships, all their heroes from the Great Crusade that are sleeping in dreadnoughts, all their prisoners, and SEVERAL FUCKING WARP RIFTS that need guarding -
All this, and they took out every last man and put him on the ground. None of their hundreds of ships returned. No one slept in too late. No one was in the warp, out with a successor, out protecting a relic, guarding anything at all. They just left their ship ripe for the taking as they unanimously deployed into a slaughterhouse.
For years the Blood Angels have been mocked for losing 950 marines on a Space Hulk, calling it bad writing and saying it doesn't make sense, and despite this, GW does it again and worse with the Imp Fists.
Such fucking bullshit.
>>332721356
Publishers have a say in development though. And overrall on steam their published games are roughly 50/50 on good/bad ratings.
>>332721551
And to add to this shitshow of rage, the Blood fucking Angels at least kept several Thunderhawk Gunships in reserve to rescue retreating marines. But not this time. No, a first founding legion of superhumans would not make such a silly mistake. They deployed all their rescue ships in the front lines, of course.
Except their biggest ship. Let's remember that The Fucking Phalanx needed to be completely abandoned for this travesty.
>>332719557
Let me rephrase what I meant.
I understand that they are in terminator armor, but it doesn't completely feel like they are. They certainly got the slow part down, but it did not feel like the got the being big part down. Watching the video it felt like the terminators weren't big enough compared to their environment.

Memeing aside, I don't remember the original time-line event mentioning the planet they were on. Only that they did ally. Either way, it's irrelevant. Dante still tried to ice the Silent King. Didn't happen thou.
>>332721551
Well, the Phalanx wasn't involved. The Imperial Fists were fighting shit to prove they were still needed. Then The Beast arrived and fucked them up with super tech. I did cry a manly tear as the Autistic Fists scream defiance to the last as they were cut down.
One survived because of luck. He then enacted The Last Wall Protocol.
They were taken cause the High Lords though the Imperium safe and there was no need for the Fists to defend the Palace any more.
Either way, it happened and is canon now. 950 marines in a Space Hulk isn't really that bad. There were probably hundreds of thousands of Jean Steelers in there. The main laughable matter is the idea a Chapter Master would risk his entire chapter for the mission.
>>332721556
Well, E.Y.E has poor overall ratings, mediocre at best, yet /v/ loves it. Same devs for Deathwing.

I think the reason was the Phalanx was deployed to protect Terra and when the IF called for the members of the Palace Guard to come help them, the Phalanx would have taken too long to get there. It took like 6 weeks to travel from Terra to where the IF was. When they got there, everybody was dead and then they died themselves. Bar the original guy.
This gets wiped and cleaned up by the lesbian inquisitor and shit is fixed. Slaughter then calls the other Autistic Fist successors to do Last Wall. I think it was pretty cool. Most of the major chapters have nearly died at some point.
Blood Angels have nearly been wiped out like 3 times, they have it worse in the fluff than IF do.

>people are in trouble, better completely abandon a ship we know has several warp rifts in it
My point isn't that they are nearly wiped out. That does happen all the time, even to first founding chapters. Never, however, has it been so fucking total, beyond reason. Reason being the complete abandonment of their fleet. Even the Crimson Fists, who actually lost their fleet (and didn't just abandon it like dumbfucks), they survived the loss under Pedro Kantor.
Those warp rifts I keep bringing up, from the book "Phalanx"? The fists forgot about them by M41, but they knew about them still in M32. It took Dorn and all of their librarians to seal the rifts, and Dorn was planning on destroying them when the galaxy stabilized a little after the HH. There is no reason why they would risk their most prized gift from their Primarch to chaos on a rescue mission, when all they need is a skeleton crew to man it as everyone else goes. Unprotected geneseed stores? Unprotected relics? Unprotected everything? That doesn't make even the slightest sense.
And from the sounds of it, there should be three groups of IF in the book:
>People who left
>People on the Phalanx
>People at the palace
I can understand taking people from the palace then (it was peace time, supposedly, despite the Dark Angels losing nearly 3,000 marines in The Forgotten Wars right before The Beast happens). I can understand not moving the Phalanx from Terra (they practically never move it, for any threat). I cannot, for the life of me, understand pulling all the guys out of their best ship to deploy them on worse ships, again, leaving the Phalanx utterly unprotected and vulnerable.
Even just 11 guys (10 on Phalanx, 1 survivor) would have made a shit ton more sense than this.

>The IF wanted to prove they were still needed and displayed their power for everybody to see.
Can you explain this anyways? I keep hearing that's the main reason they left, but the Dark Angels were literally being worked to death in the meanwhile.
Preluding this, Supreme Grand Master Purson was literally juggling Imperial orders for big missions while pursuing Fallen/Cypher. Later, he and several successors flat out ignored their orders to fly out to the Eye of Terror, where they went unnoticed because Cadia was dealing with big shit and a huge flux of warp storms.
Then the Forgotten Wars happen as Purson, the entire Lions Sable Chapter, and around a thousand other marines are killed. And the Dark Angels literally manage to hide this huge loss because of the Beast and the Beheading which happened right after. Pic related. And for reference, the Lions Sable were a fleet based chapter who flew their whole fleet into the warp to destroy a planet of Fallen on a daemonworld. They didn't fucking leaving their ships behind, unmanned. This is the "proper" way to lose a fleet-based Chapter.
Anyways, back to the point, how the hell is the Imperium "at peace" when there are wars of chaos all over the place right before this? How does the "we don't need space marines" argument even start when space marines are, even then, the only force holding their enemies at bay? What more needs to be proved? Just grab some pict-feeds from the Dark Angels and be done with it.

>I guess the point you're supposed to get from it is that the High Lords of Terra are even more useless and incompetent than normal when all that shit was going down.
Well, technically they were. "I Am Slaughter" takes place 4 years before The Beheading, when the Assassins Grandmaster assassinates all the high lords and assume control.Of course, back when The Beheading was written, the Imperial Fists were a full chapter who led the strike force against the grandmaster (and were promptly slain to a man. Sound familiar?). Now it's going to be pseudo-fists who do the same thing the fists do in IAS.
Like I said before, I'll never not be mad about this. I can enjoy their glorious last stand against the orks, because it was glorious, but the rest just disgusts me.

>>332725509
Basically there was this meme OC donutsteel race fucking up some coreward systems. So the Imperial Fists marched everybody bar the defenders of the Palace to go eradicate it. The High Lords of Terra were thinking of ending Space Marines as they saw no need in them. IF Chapter Master wanted to prove the IF were needed and were valuable in ending threats. So to do this, he brought all of them along and started wiping shit out.
Then the strange anomolies happened. Shit like water flowing the wrong way, mountains appearing where there were valleys before, gravity disappearing in specific areas. Turned out to be the Orks with their super non-webway non-warp but in between power. Which was how the original OCdonutsteel alien race were spreading. IF CM calls for reinforcements from the Palace and so they get on fastest ships and arrive. They find all the battle barges and shit dead. They try and land but lots of them die. They find some survivors, then the Orks appear and start landing. They're basically Skarboyz at worse and are smarter, stronger. They rekt the IF. One guy survives by hitting his teleport device and teleports to the downed battlebarge, but due to the ork tech, it basically stuck him in time and space, moving slowly. He manages to be rescued by Ad Mech people trying to work out how to stop The Beast. They also find 2 other IF who have cocooned themselves to regen and the leading Ad Mech guy orders them cut open and their brain scans. This obviously kills them.
One surviving IF then takes over an Imperial Fleet ship and orders the other IF CM's to convene. They are like "lol where is your Chapter Master, Captain?" and he's like "lol I'm the last one left, the only one left, so I guess I'm chapter master, bitch" and so things happen.
>>332726158
Actually, they weren't. The original Beheading, as it says there, was drawn up from several chapters, not just the IF.
I'm waiting for that novel, it should be cool. It will tell us how many Space Marines died. Vangorich is fucking awesome in the books, my favourite character.

It's etc. Short for ET CETERA. How can people think it's ect?
>>332726251
>The High Lords of Terra were thinking of ending Space Marines as they saw no need in them.
And this is my other huge problem. As shown in >>332725509, The Forgotten Wars happens right before The Beast and The Beheading.
Yet in this time, the High Lords are ordering chapters after ork fleets, sending them to purge worlds infected by daemons (and wondering about the DA's erratic behavior on itwhich was chasing Cypher, and obviously other such missions, which the DA pull their successor chapters from. The High Lords obvious knew that the space marines were good at ending threats, because they were using them.
I was only looking some explanation on this point, but thanks for typing the rest up too.
>>332727318
I think the reason is, the Imperial Fists hadn't left the Sol System since the Heresy. They were essentially baby sitting Terra. The High Lords were going "Well we're sending the Space Marines to fight minor shit, which is OK, but the Imperial Fists are surplus to requirements! The Adeptus Custodes can defend the Emperor, we don't need the IF!" and so the IF CM, who knew this, decided to prove they were worthwhile, so went out to fight those OCaliens because they were heading towards Terra. Nobody knew how, all they knew is they were. So they went to end it.
>>332726393
It's still weak to me. We've known about The Beast and The Beheading since 5E. We've known that The Beast was defeated only at great cost since 6E. It's just a shame that not only did they go through such great lengths and force an unorthodox method to have the ImpFists wiped out again, they also chose a chapter that we've known is involved in The Beheading since 5E. Except right now, there is only 1 ImpFist left to even take part in it. I know we've got that Last Wall Protocol to explain how they are going to have a bunch more marines to throw into another the "one survivor" blender, but it's just weak. We've known the ImpFists were going to take part in the Beheading because they are the guardians of Terra and are always present. Why kill them and make it personal, only to replenish them so you can kill them again? They've already got a reason to be there.
It'd make more sense for it to be a reason one of the other two chapters was there. Or better yet, they didn't have to turn "great cost for the Adeptus Astartes" into "by that, I mean great costs for the ImpFists."
>>332729184
>shilling is obvious
>one of the supposed 3 didn't even know there was gameplay footage out
I'd except a shill to hype what's currently out, not complain that he's retarded.
>>332728858
Well, I suppose the other Space Marines are busy doing their own thing.
Makes sense it's the IF. I think it makes the struggle all that more cool. If Slaughter dies, that's the end of the IF. So he obviously has too.
Interestingly enough, I asked Forge World's facebook page "What happened to the Sisters of Silence and what do the Custodes who aren't The Companions do all day?". And they basically linked me to an upcoming Beast Arises series and said something like "I can't promise you anything but..."
I assume they're going to say the Adeptus Custodes get involved. Which isn't a surprise as the Orks invade Terra. Also it's implied they're only defeated by Eldar help.
>>332729774
In the book, was there no clue this was coming?
>The Orks rampage across the Imperium on a massive scale. The number of attacks grow until it becomes the greatest greenskin invasion that the galaxy has ever seen
>until
Surely they must have noticed something going on all over the place. The Cypher/Forgotten Wars stuff has the DA and successors chasing ork fleets left and right. A lot of the stuff I've read makes it seem like the ork moon was somehow a blind-side and sudden.
Also, doesn't the whole Waaagh only happen in Segmentum Solar in the book? I'm not getting the
>The Warboss known only as the Beast nearly took over the galaxy
>widespread advances
vibe from this. The only book that ever elicited more salt from me is the one that goes "Actually, Cypher has been caught and released by the Dark Angels multiple times over the years, he's actually friends with their Chapter Master and works with them, and it was M41 Azrael that blew up Caliban in the Horus Heresy after he goes back in the past. :^)"
>>332730426
I don't remember Cypher being caught multiple times, but I do remember him helping stop Mortarion and Co on Caliban. I honestly like that. The fact Azreal is the cause of the Fallen. It's kinda horrible to think about. But he had no choice.
I always wanted to write a fan fic of this event and how all of this is JUST AS PLANNED by Tzeentch. That Tzeentch purposely made all these events happen so the Dark Angels are constantly looking for Fallen rather than helping others. So that ends up making other plans work and shit. And how Azrael doing the warp storm back in HH is done to guilt trip him into further rash actions and shit.
As for The Beast. The books mention he's smashing up lots of places.
>>332730994
I- I don't want to discuss my two least favorite books on the same day, but let's just say I disagree. I much preferred the explanation that had the chaos gods, still reeling from their defeat with Horus, join Luther (which is how he matched his Primarch in combat), and once he rejected the gods after slaying Lion, the gods - frustrated and defeated again - saved the Fallen in a final act of vengeance.
The end of the Horus Heresy was a pretty bad time to be a Chaos God, tbqh.
>>332731596
Well, in a way, it was caused by the Chaos Gods. They told Mortarion and co to go invade Caliban and do the thing. Cypher saved them.
It's not too bad. But, you obviously disagree.
>>332718592
That's why they don't let guardsmen come back from shit like that. The possiblity of chaos taint is enough to destroy all companies invovled in battles with chaos, excluding Cadia, but Cadia is a special snowflake
>>332732578
>but Cadia is a special snowflake
you can blame the necrons again for such snowflakery
>>332733509
Is there something I'm missing? Cadia is usually excluded because they grow up under the Eye of Terror, are raised in the knowledge of Chaos, and militarized since birth, grow up fighting the renegades that turn daily on Cadia, and the culmination of all that is such an exposure that "one more battle" really doesn't change things for Cadian.
>>332733680
the famous cadian gate, the zone of space where the eye of terror doesn't expand, is caused by the pylons of cadia: these are of necron origin and basically create null-zones for the warp.
If cadia stands and its guardsmen stay untainted is because the necrons did it.
>>332715876
I am in pain.
>>332734153
Right. Thought you were referring to something that made its people more resistant to chaos or something.
>>332709161
>hand against your bear chest
>>332734153
Shame the gate has been broken and Cadia is lost (unless that got retconned via Warzone Fenris, which makes some sense....) and the Pylons are breaking.
>>332734919
Warzone Fenris takes place before the 13th Crusade, but last I heard, Abaddon's victory there was just a tournament and retconned to be not canon. Same with Creed's death.
>>332716162
Its perfect, suck it loyalists.
>>332735146
>creed
>Dying
Its not a coffin its a baneblade
>>332735146
How can it take place before 13th Crusade? Let us look at the facts.
Okay, so let us assume it does. They're selling Warzone Fenris on the idea of "Oh no, what happens to Space Yiffers?" Well if it's BEFORE 13th Crusade, we know that nothing bad happens to Fenris and they fuck off to Cadia.
Now, let us assume that's correct, the fluff we DO have of them being in Cadia for the 13th Crusade says they only took 11 Companies with them, the 12th stayed on the Fang to defend it. No mention of the 13th. There is no chance all the Space Werewolves die and don't get involved. They wouldn't create models just to have them for one fucking campaign.
So, we're left with some choices. Either it happens during 13th Black Crusade and they escape Cadia due to it being "lost", which does not explain how they seem to be at full strength. Or it happens before 13th Crusade, and what happens during the 13th Crusade is retconned.
Therefore, the most logical answer is.... Dun dun duuuun!
That it's prior to 13th Black Crusade and the events which have already been fluffed out in the novel Ragnar Blackmane and IA13 are not canon.
In 2008, Nids attacked Baal. That's been retconned. It's not longer fact.
>>332734919
are you referring to the events of the eye of terror campaign? all that stuff was retconned hard.
cadia has still basically fallen considering what is written in the book about the renegade guard; but then again
>propaganda
>>332735704
>They're selling Warzone Fenris on the idea of "Oh no, what happens to Space Yiffers?" Well if it's BEFORE 13th Crusade, we know that nothing bad happens to Fenris and they fuck off to Cadia.
That's practically every Warzone campaign so far, and the books.
I mean, "I Am Slaughter" just killed off all the Imperial Fists 4 years before they join a strike force against the Assassins Grand Master, and we know they are fine after.
But anyways, just saying it as I hear
>Dark Angels bomb Fenris for the pottery of wolves bombing Prospero.
>They make up (hasn't happened yet).
>They then bro it up during the 13th Black Crusade.
It's the same reason they are playing off that Logan Grimnar died in the Campaign, but we know he hasn't yet because he's going to be there at the crusade.
>>332735863
No. I'm talking about Imperial Armour 13. Which state that the 13th Black Crusade has achieved more than all it's previous ones combined. I also point you towards Space Wolves 6th Edition (or 7th if you got digital like a fag). Imperial Guard 6th edition as well. Both say they rushed towards Cadia because the gate got broken in several places. They managed to stabalise it, but Cadia is in a stalemate. Creed has a master stroke plan coming up, or so the rumours say.
Anyway. The novel Ragnar Blackmane has Blackmane fighting on Cadia with the 11 Great Companies, but they're small resistance pockets. One Wolf Lord says to him "The ground is lost". Cadia has essentially fallen in that novel.
Which, obviously, is not the case in Warzone Fenris. Which leaves the problem of, if Warzone Fenris takes place BEFORE 13th BC, then where is the 13th Company? Surely they were around to help, even a few of them?
This can mean two things. Either all the Space Werewolves die, meaning the "ur d00ds" factor drops as they're only 'canon' usable in Warzone Fenris. Or the 13th Black Crusade does not pan out the way Imperial Armour 13, Space Wolves 6th and IG 6th say it does.
>>332736150
Difference is, Beast Arises series is set in 32M. Warzone Fenris isn't. See above. Either it happens during 13th BC, or 13th BC does not go the way it's said to go, thus being retconned.
I go with the latter choice. The only other option is 13th GC is completely destroyed and Space Wolves got to Cadia as punishment.
Eye of Terror campaign has been retconned. I'm talking about fluff released prior to Warzone Fenris. That means shit is unlikely to pan out the way it has in those sources. As I said, it was only 8 years ago Baal was basically lost. Now we've reset back to Dante calling everybody back.
>>332688527
purge my dick you big dumb faggot!!
>>332736458
Chaos pls
>>332736387
When I refer to Logan Grimnar's "death," I'm referring to Warzone Fenris.
>>332736809
Where is this from? Is that from the novel of Warzone Fenris?
In the campaign 'fluff', Grimnar is just crushed by rocks, he isn't dead.
>>332736898
>Is that from the novel of Warzone Fenris?
Yes. Like I said though, the chances of him actually being dead are slim to none.
>>332699396
The codex kekstrates dose not support this meme.

I was thinking of buying that, I usually buy most books physically to read on the toilet. Yeah yeah, disgusting and all that. But, I've overwhelmed with books at the moment.
Still got Deathwatch: Ignition to read, plus the Deathwatch Graphic novel reprint. Plus The Last Wall.... Plus Age of Sigmar wartomes (let's not get into this argument) and other AoS stuff.
That book seems interesting, it seemed well written. I usually pick up anything by Josh Reynolds, the guy still has some of the humour which has been lost in the last 10 years. Plus he seems to like factions I like, so even better.
I would download that novel, but... It seems to be pretty long. Is it uploaded yet to the Mega? I might get it. I'm not really a fan of Space Yiffs, but if it has interesting stuff in, or is a good read, I'd get it.

I honestly don't mind Age of Sigmar. Mainly cause Lizardmen remain largely unchanged. So I don't lose anything. In fact, I'm happier than I was before. They seem to have more importance in the story and can actually fucking talk. WHFB failed due to nobody supporting it and kids not liking traditional fantasy. Didn't help LOTR was 26mm. Lots of reasons it died, but I'd rather AoS existed than nothing.
I made an edit of a PA comic for AoS.
As for the other bit... Shame. I might have to buy it tomorrow then if anything interesting pops up.

Could have literally gone with generic choir instrumentals and gotten a better sountrack out of it. The text kinda' sorta' fit, I'll admit, but the general tone of the song and the fucking genre had NOTHING to do in a 40k game.
>>332738115
Sisters Army? They're finally pulling the plug, are they? Shame. I like SoB.
As for Tomb Kings, it seems like they're planning new factions of some sort. Lots of Empire models are going, Elves too. We know Elves aren't being canned, so it's odd.
Who knows, eh?
>>332738208
Official music for 40k was 80's death metal. I don't think that'd work either.
>>332738308
80s death metal would have fit a lot better than whatever the hell soul-pop shit this was suppose to be. Like I said I can kinda' see how the lyrics fit, but they could have gone with tropic house and it would still have been a better genre than the one they picked.
I will never get over this.

>>332738410
As I said, probably cheaper. Watch the trailer, the ending advertises the song. So my guess is they got to do it for free. They're a small studio, they don't have the money to pay for big songs.
Either way, I think it fits, it was a bold choice and it gets people talking about the game. I like it.
But that's you know, just like, my opinion, bro.

>>332738597
Fair enough. Maybe if it was to cut costs and actually put that money into something that matters I can kinda' deal with it.
That being said, even whatever in-game music they are going with would have been a better choice.
If nothing else it got people talking though. I however don't believe the "infamy is still good publicity" meme, and think it was a bad decision in the long run.
Time will tell.

You're wrong. The trailer would've been great if it was an instrumental version of the song.
>>332738308
There is no indication that Sisters are going anywhere. After seeing GW sort of pump out two armies for AoS, I think they could do Sisters.
It'd be nice if TK made a return and they just got rid of the range currently because the majority of it was old, but I'm doubtful.
>>332739204
Not the guy you're talking to, but I disagree. The song is too dry and too morose without the vocals. I just rewatched it, focusing out the voice and just listening to the instruments while watching. The intro piano repeats too often, the broodlord hit has a long silence, the flamer scene doesn't work, etc. It also gives it a tone of being utterly helpless - which is good, if you don't want to be the badass player who beats it, but >>332709768 does the it better.
