It sums up (at least hopefully) the dynamic between the four characters in a beautiful way and I love Florence's voice. Odd clunky ARPG combat and suboptimal frame rates suck but if the chemistry between the characters is strong and the story is a good ride, I might be able to look past part of it. It'll be a nice change to see this game as more of a band of brothers against the world instead of the usual group of misfits we get in FF games. Plus the game is gorgeous and flashy. Looks like a much more serious KH. And I like that.

There are four kingdoms, each with their own crystal. Noctis is a prince of Insomnia, one of these kingdoms. Long time ago game looked like something new and fresh. With four bros4life - something unusual in FF games - fighting different monsters.
Then it turned out that characters look and act like typical boysband queeros.

I don't really know what to think. Everything seems impressive overall like art direction and music, but I'm split on the theme song. Mixed is game design and gameplay, and the big tossup and make or break of the game is the story. There are, as analyzed by Eurogamer's Digital Foundry, some performance issues with keeping steady framerates this late in development. I'm also really skeptical about all the spinoff material for what is supposedly supposed to be a game that is "independent" of everything else and had its plot and characters changed for the sole purpose of "tying up loose plotlines".
There seems to be a hint of desperation from Square Enix for this game to really succeed. They really do have a lot riding out on this, and I don't see any indication that this game can do any better than "really good" in terms of sales and the effort they are putting out for it. Which would be fine for any other game but the one game which the company's future depends on.
I dunno. I think Square Enix is done. I don't think this game is good enough to generate "phenomenal" sales to save the company, along with its spinoffs.

The movie and anime aren't spinoffs, the movie is about events that happen during the game that don't personally involve Noctis and the anime is a prequel. This is probably just a way of them retaining some of those loose plotlines without having to make sequels that might not sell.

I just think it's a continuation of "sneaking in" changes that don't really make sense from a developmental standpoint and giving a standard PR excuse to justify them. I really doubt with all the changes the development team made to the plot that the assassination scene will happen at all or in the fashion they have showed in the trailers.
Like how the game was "slowly" changed little by little from the E3 2013 trailer concepts until Duscae released. I don't really care if Tabata wanted to change the game into what he wanted from the original vision of the game but he should've been honest about what he was going to do instead of being sly with his intentions about changing the plot and characters for the independence of the franchise itself and the other rationales he gave for the changes.

I think if Nomura was left uninterrupted we'd be presented with a bolder, more poetic and sullen take on Final Fantasy that would have offered a breath of fresh air to the series. I don't like how the original atmosphere was totally gutted. The plot seemed a lot more dire and the characters (mostly Noctis) seemed to have at least a bit more maturity about them. I think the game will be good, but it was basically turned a little bit inside out to fit within semi-rigid guidelines of what a "main installment" in the series would be and I think that's ultimately going to take away from the game.
The biggest thing for me is that you can't control other party members. That was going to make the game so much more interesting. It seems like they've totally scrapped the original city those 2011 trailers took place in; plus Stella just looked a whole lot more interesting than whoever the fuck replaced her. Less of a love interest and more of an anti-hero/rival.

Seriously, you niggas can do aerial combat, all sorts of blocks and dodges, each weapon has multiple special moves, and a surprising amount of depth for a stripped down demo.
Oh, and if you do use the right timing, YOU CAN perfect dodge cancel from MOST attack animations- there are some that you can't (mostly great sword), air attacks you must use an aerial rave dodge, which has more strict timing and doesn't require any presses of square at all. Not every attack can be dodged by holding down square. Some attacks you must have pressed square within a certain time frame of the enemies attack.

From what we've seen I've now come to the conclusion that Nomura's original concept was basically all over the place with stand by me, romeo and juliet, game of thrones(sorry can't think of a better example), and gothic fantasy thrown in to boot. Not that he couldn't have found a way to make it work, but as a single game it was probably way too ambitious(basically Nomura bought in to the POWER OF THE PS3 hype because he's a designer and doesn't know enough about technical limitations).
As it is the super trimmed-down version we're getting with XV looks like it's buckling at the seams(seriously that framerate/aliasing jesus) so it was either this or a completely new concept.

I think the game will be good, but it was basically turned a little bit inside out to fit within semi-rigid guidelines of what a "main installment" in the series would be and I think that's ultimately going to take away from the game.

Materia was also the crystallized lifeblood of the planet and all that mumbo jumbo. It was definitely the usual crystal motif. The spheres on the other hand were from pyreflies, which were the nanomachines of FFX - they did literally everything.
