I've a 360 controller and it definitely seems to be made for a gamepad. Swordplay becomes very intuitive on a gamepad, like Ys. Gunplay gets awkward though because you shoot in the direction you move. Hard to snipe from precarious spots.

When you make your first room, you tell gamemaker what FPS you want to work in, and then you follow through with all the sprites.
Sprites aren't full graphical renders like 3d games are, where FPS matters. The game doesn't need to account for motion blur or AF, so no matter what framerate, it'll all mostly look the same aside from frame tweening.

Without even having tested it I can tell you you obviously still fall between infinite dashes, otherwise a lot of the level design would irrevocably break.
And yeah you don't get any i-frames during your dash, though you can buy an upgrade that makes it so you don't get hurt by projectiles at least.

I'm liking the combat and visuals so far, but I hate the way it handles secrets. Having to press yourself against every wall to find shit isn't interesting or fun. Also hate how it conceals enemies behind the foreground/other random objects

so I respawned at a checkpoint with near full health, then exited the game, and when I reentered, I had 1 health at that same checkpoint. I now have to restart the whole game because the subsequent area is impossible.

holy hell the menus are awful. Sometimes you have to press a key and clicking the button won't work, and sometimes you have to click and the key it says to press doesn't work. For example, exiting to the menu requires that you click, even though it says E to exit. When entering your name, clicking the confirm button doesn't work and you have to press enter.

I got stuck in the first major block crushing part really early in the game. Try reloading your save. Apparently loading into a zone give you i-frames, but getting up from death does not.
