But you don't have to join them.
You can use those magics, and still remain loyal.
It's why the horde and alliance have warlocks, and why demon hunters fight the legion, and why the scarlet crusade were bad.

It's really not that hard to comprehend. Just put some arbitrary dates on the "eras".
Classic- 0-99
TBC- 100-199
Wotlk- 200-299
Cata- 300-399
MoP- 400-499
WoD- 500-599
Legion- 600-699
Any time you step into an instance, you're essentially traveling to that time period when those events happened. You can't kill the same guy multiple times, after all. You only defeated the LK once, for example.
So current leveling is 300. When you enter an instance that wasn't affected by Cata, you effectively travel back to 0-99. That being said, you're not directly time traveling. You're just experiencing what you did in the past. As you level, you're just experiencing the actions you did in the past. Your character, lore-wise, doesn't level. It's just a game mechanic.

If pretty much all of the Forsaken are former citizens of Lordaeron, and Lordaeron was Paladin capital of the world, then shouldn't there be a bunch of ex-Paladins in the Forsaken? We've seen Forsaken Undead in-game use the Light, as Holy Priests. Why can't Jim-Bob Forsaken pick up his mace and go back to being a Paladin? We've seen Evil people use the light, Undead use the light, and Undead Paladins before in-game, like one of the horsemen in Naxxramas.
So why can't we play Undead Paladins? Blizz could fluff them as Forsaken trying to regain their honour and Goodness or just cruel Forsaken bending the Light to their will.

Dread Wastes and Isle of Thunder were the only areas I didn't feel hilariously out of place. Warlords was a mess and I found myself wondering what the fuck I was even there for past the suicide mission, which was fitting for the class.
I'm not a big fan of the mechanics blizzard wants to emphasize for unholy, festering wounds look lame and putting more of our damage on pets and passive dots makes me feel less powerful, not more. Not to mention they'll just get shackled or turned in pvp.

As has already been stated multiple times, using the Light causes pain to forsaken. Priests simply use the light when they cast a spell. There are holy/disc undead priests but they're considered to have the strongest will power in the entire race because of how much pain using the Light causes. It causes pain on the soul level.
Paladins are infused with the light 24/7. They don't tap into the light to use a spell. They bring the light that is constantly within them out to cast spells. That is why undead can't be paladins.

I had a friend on balmung want me in (super popular rp server) and I waited to make a character overnight, it was a maintenance night and it's an NA server (I am EU), I managed to get in at about 10am in the morning and make my character, had very minimal queues when I'd want to log in to play.
Otherwise if you don't get such luck, you make a character on one realm and transfer it to the populated one.

The Ulduar DK set is great, still has requisite spikes and skulls, but also manages to fit the theme of the raid and the focus of the armor is on the Titanic, metallic theme rather than entirely skulls skulls bones grr.

Finding good RP in MMOs in general can be fairly hard sometimes. FFXIV is like a cesspool though- I had a few decent RP sessions, and a whole lot of people wanted to fuck my character solely because she was a catgirl.
Worse yet, they were the type that doesn't seem to understand basic english, because no matter how often I said "I don't ERP without at least a few sessions of buildup" they still acted all autistic and whispered me the same godawful pick-up lines.
Then there were the laughably desperate futa RPers that talked about their retarded gay shit in taverns like it was something normal, using the spottiest possible lore connections to justify their dick-loving fetishes.

It's something that's been somewhat of a recurring theme on the Argent Dawn forums over the past ~8 years I've been there, yeah.

Progressing through Normal we were good but by the time we got to Heroic half our core group started getting lazy as shit either due to burnout or just some peoplemespoiling/carrying them. Showing up late or just forgetting extremely easy mechanics like on Sha where you had to run over the tears in the ground. It was a shit guild but I really enjoyed the company of some of them. I've been talking with the ones who were there on time and knew what they were doing and we might remake a guild with Legion if we all do actually start.
It's what I get for joining Darkspear on Alliance though. All those faggot Swifty fans can't raid for shit.

Hey fellow RPer, I can only speak to Moon Guard, but there's barely enough people around to find good amount of RP. Horde side is pretty dead (3-to-1 Alliance to Horde ratio) and most RP guilds and groups seem to be dead or on hiatus until Legion kicks off. Alliance side you'll find more people but Moon Guard Alliance is pretty rough.
Your mileage may vary depending the server, but WoW's fueling on fumes and at least on Moon Guard, we're feeling it and most are subscribed. And even if they are, they probably aren't RPing much beyond the trash crowd in front of Stormwind's Cathedral.
