This is what bothers me most about the cosmetic sets.
Half the time they're so visually dense the characters just look like vague color blobs during intense teamfights, which would be fine if the OTHER HALF OF THE SETS DIDN'T USE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLOR SCHEME THAN THE DEFAULT.
Like fuck, I've associated Nyx with that orange-ish gold color, and then there's a set where he's fucking blue.

Gotta love how Dota's cosmetic items slowly started becoming more and more flashy and stupid, I fucking hate having to take an extra second or two to recognize which hero the other fucker is playing, same with ability effects, sure it's fine most of the time when it's 2-4 people using shit, but when you get to a team fight everything becomes confusing as fuck, I hated it in LoL and I hate it even more in Dota because it's the players's fault, you even get to use fucking pets in the game, the only thing they achieved with that was introducing new bugs and problems.
Shit's bad when even LoL's skins look more reasonable than these sets.

In a perfect world there would be an off switch client side for cosmetics. But, I can understand why such a thing doesn't exist. The major issue I have is sets deviating from the characters color scheme. You can have your flashy cosmetics but don't let them compromise the other wise clean silhouettes.
