Combat seems good but I've only seen a few solid fights so far. 30 FPS is noticeable but not gamebreaking. Games with a story are like a musical. You have two wholly disparate parts glued together for little to no benefit. A minimalist plot is fine, sure, as long as it doesn't take away from the gameplay. Getting any budget in the form of voice acting, writing, or story-specific set pieces is getting in the way of gameplay because games have a limited budget and anything not spent on actual content and content-enhancing audiovisuals is a waste. I'm liking this so far. It reminds me of Link's Awakening. Lots of mysterious shit, good ol' top down exploring. Also pretty hard.
Only gripe so far (other than framerate) is the platforming can be a bit cryptic sometimes. It's hard to tell where you can step without trial and error, which means you're losing health for every fall.
I like how the quit menu shows how long it's been since your last save.

Dash isn't invulnerable (there's a buff I haven't gotten yet that gives it a shield that blocks projectiles), and at the beginning there is a slight pause before you can do it again. The first buff you can get for movement is to remove that pause and make the rhythm of the dash get faster and the distance increase, but then when you stop your character slides for a while. Or if you hit a wall you fall over.
But yeah you can just dash as much as you want. I was more consistently dodging when I wasn't doing it at all though since you can't control the distance.

Do they have townspeople corpses being dragged around, decapitated and put on spikes though?
