Honestly, the fact that it's open world is what makes me skeptical. Generally when a franchise decides to go open world, it basically shifts quality to quantity and everyone eats up that garbage.
The story looks like it could be good. The combat mechanics look great. The graphics are beautiful. But the world looks too big. Wildlife is not something that fun to explore. I really can't see how the traveling aspect of this game can be any fun. It just seems like a way to bloat the game and make it more drawn out, which is the main reason why I hate open world games.
I'm not expecting much from this game but eh, only time will tell if it's any good.

You can't die, and taking damage only knocks you off balance for a couple of seconds. The graphics weren't what were expected outside of cutscenes, which are still in game renderings, but the camera positioning makes a big difference when things aren't moving. The final combat instance of the game pits you against a Level 3 Iron giant that, once defeated, allows you to spawn an identical level 15 counterpart for a "challenge."
Upon defeat of the level 3 giant, you're given access to the warp-blade ability, allowing you to teleport to any one of, say, fifteen designated warp points. There are two extra weapons to be found, a large shield that allows for manual parrying, and a large shuriken to showcase the use of range weapons.
The demo also involves manipulation of environment, allowing you to push and move toy blocks. The movement of Noctis himself is a little stiff, and the camera gets caught on non-stationary objects a little too often. The transition between lighting and caves is neat, emulating the eyes ability to adjust to the dark, as seen when traveling through a tunnel of books.

Keep in mind though, Square made it clear that this demo is free to absolutely anybody, and is supposed to be accessible to newcomers and veterans of the series alike. The demo is misleading of what the final product is expected to be, and it's been expressed by the devs during the show that the combat in the new demo is literally as barebones as it gets, so don't use it as a measure of the final product, it will very likely be much better. This demo is also not part of the game itself. It's standalone and does not appear in the final product.
This is also the only way you can permanently add the Carbuncle summon to your retail release. After the first Iron Giant defeat, you're prompted to name your Carbuncle, and it's name will carry over as a permanent addition to your summons in FFXV
Take the demo with a grain of salt anon. It's just something to get newbies interested in a franchise they've never played before and is in no way representative of what we'll be playing come september.

What I'll honestly never understand about some people is why they think that Square Enix has done anything particularly remarkable to enhance this game other than pulling off a pretty trendy publicity moment for it. Like I just don't get the mindset of watching some marketing hype blitz for some anime shit, a new trailer and some PR stuff and then being proud to plunk down money to pre-order it. Like nope, there's nothing that could conceivably possibly go wrong from this point on and the game is an assured timeless masterpiece. Marketing goal achieved I guess thanks to people being stupid. I think you guys are overestimating how much they are investing in this.
