It's been outdated. I deal with it, though.

Yes but i don't care, settings can always be changed. Once i stop being able to play games at high then i'll consider upgrading parts but until that time comes it just seems like a waste of money.

Not everyone only started playing video games in the past decade anon.
>>
it's already out-dated as fuck. I don't care though since I don't play that many newer games and the one I do aren't that intensive.

My PC was a beast until the GPU starting showing artifacts. Replaced it with the only thing I could afford and now it's the only thing that let's it down.

I wanted a 780 when it came out, is it still a solid card today?

>>332623659
Yeah it's ok, it'll play pretty much anything you throw at it.

i5 2500k

funny thing is that i decided to start saving up money for a new GPU (GTX 980) and a new CPU (new i7) also new Mobo and upgrading to a 16gig ram.

so i was putting more hours in my job.this past Easter Sunday i got suspended from work.

im waiting for them to call me to see if im working or if they're firing me.

haven't told my family i was suspended.
good thing i had a lot of money saved up.
i won't be using that money for a new PC.
i don't need it that badly.

Bought it prebuilt 2011 and it's served me fantastically since. Gonna finally upgrade my GPU soon, since my CPU and RAM are still perfectly fine, but the 660 Ti isn't cutting it for the Division or Paragon, and I want Dark Souls III to run at max settings.

my 750ti is OC'd to 1ghz over factory so that helps 5ghz ddr5

Kinda. But I'm not that worried yet. When I'll get to try out Dark Souls 3 I'll know if I should invest for better gear. Only W3 has been a game that I've skipped due to fps, but haven't tried it since launch week.

if i got 1 more write up,i was going to get suspended and they were going to review my info ect...

2 weeks ago i didn't do my papers correctly.
so they were issuing me 2 write ups because of it.

everything was good until they saw that i have a final warning. i should had been suspended in January because i got a write up back then.

i feel like i have a 60% of coming back and 40% that they're going to just fire me.

the struggle is real

You would be surprised how stupidly easy it's for HR departments to fire someone. I used to manage a plant with about 400 employees per shift, and people would get shit canned for the most minor of infractions.

Only exception being if they were union or under a very strict contract.

Those "reviews" were basically someone from the HR dept rollong up on me with a folder and saying "We need to fire this guy. Get it done"

They would throw a blanket statement over it too, such as liability, performance and even work ethics and appearance.

Basically what >>332633408 said.

You'll likely be paying upwards to 4x as much if buying a high-end prebuilt, your best bet is to either wait or skimp on the GPU, buy an entry level one for the meantime, like a 750 TI, then upgrade it when the new ones are released.

Probably best to just wait but if you really can't wait to smoke niggas then there is an alternative.

I'm kind of sad theres no 1080p, g-sync 144hz IPS screen out there, don't want to always buy the highest end shit just so I can have solid framerates, and even my 1440p korean monitor is fucking me in that.

Flat out wrong.

Being an enthusiast is not cheap.
Building a PC capable of running 98% of all games at a playable level with compromises is cheap as fuck.

Me and my friends bought new PCs at the same time in 2008 and 9
Since then I've replaced everything in my PC, many things several times at that.
Two of them upgraded their GPUs once
One of them upgraded nothing until now.

You can build a PC on any budget.

I got a small 4 year old laptop that wasn't that powerful to begin with, I bought it for school work since I wanted to go study software development. The audio jack is fucked a little but still works. I had to change the keyboard tho because I managed to spill some tea on it, thank god for the chinese I got a new one from china for like 10$. I love my little chugger I hope it doesn't get fucked too soon because I don't have a job at the moment.

I can't really play new stuff so I'm mostly playing games with low requirements like Civ. I like especially the older stuff that I didn't play yet or indies like Binding of Isaac. Right now I'm on System Shock 2 and I just got Warhammer from Humble Bundle so that's next.

That may be true, but I upgraded to 10 on the day of release, and I've not had any major problems with Windows 10 that I couldn't fix after a few hours of Googling. The biggest problem I had with Windows 10 was the recovery feature (restoring system to a previous date) making my system go into an infinite boot and I solved it by simply deleting past partitions and performing a clean install of Windows 10 on a fresh partition.

The second problem I have is that I sometimes BSOD when I boot up MSI Afterburner or Speccy with a "PAGE ERROR IN NON PAGED AREA" code. I just stopped using Speccy and Afterburner that often. It's also a pretty big problem because there's a Microsoft forums post with 200 pages of people complaining about Windows 10 forcing a Speccy/Afterburner uninstall after an update like six months ago.

The final problem I'm having is that if I leave TeamSpeak 3 running when I put my PC to sleep, on wakeup my mouse becomes completely unresponsive and a beeping noise comes out of my headphones whenever the cursor moves a single pixel, or if I do something like clicking. I read up that this is a TeamSpeak problem and not Windows 10, but this wasn't present on Windows 7... and it wasn't present on Windows 10 until about the past month or so.

I built a nonbudget build out of then-outdated gear at the ass-end of 2010 for roughly the price of a PS3 and it was still handling shit fine right up until I dropped PS4 money earlier this year on >>332642175
>>
>>332642840
I did this with 60g SSD but I ran into slight issues because visual studios doesn't allow you to install it in any drive that isn't your windows drive. If you try to install it another drive it'll install like documents file totaling kbs but still install gigs on your windows drive, which didn't have space.

It was ridiculous, other than that the SSD is amazing and I'm mad I didn't upgrade earlier.
>>
>>332643295
For the card it wouldn't be if it were any kind of effort, but you can get some pretty hefty returns out of relatively minor CPU cranks that are perfectly fine to run 24/7 for years
>>
>>332642819
I have a Hyper 212 EVO. It's not really an overclock-cooling air-based heatsink. I guess I could OC to something like 3.9 or 4.0 and be perfectly fine, but I don't actually need to right now. I primarily got a K version because it's nice to have the option. It's the same reason I got a standard-ATX motherboard, so if I ever want to run SLI, I can.

I plan on getting a Corsair H100i or something similar eventually, and that's when I'll overclock my CPU.
>>
>>332643007
you're not spending money to overclock, you're saving money to not overclock.

The non-k cpu is for people who are willing to lose out on a feature (that they most likely won't use) for a cheaper price. If you don't plan to overclock (which a majority don't) and you get the 4770k it is just a waste.

16GB DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980
250GB SSD boot drive
500GB SSD for games
2TB WD Black for games
2TB WD Black for capturing footage
2TB WD Green for storing footage and everything else
>>
>>332643675
When I got my 4770K it was only $30 more expensive than the non-K version. It's not that big of a waste, especially considering it's something that a user could become interested in at a later date.

By this same logic, getting any vehicle that goes over the speed limit is a waste because not everyone speeds. If only a small amount of people speed, then why have the option to go up to 80, 90 MPH?
>>
>>332644000
desu if your car's speedometer only goes up to 90, you're never actually going to hit 90 in it. You probably will struggle getting to 60.
>>
>>332644000
the difference is that money could've been spent on other avenues to improve your computer. Also you said you might be interested, you're not the 90% of people who don't OC, don't plan to OC, and more likely don't even know you CAN OC.
>>
>>332643675
That'd be true if enabling o/c capability was some kind of thing they intentionally had to do, just for you the aware and educated consumer.

Removing the capacity to do so is more effort, and allows them to sell you non-gimped products for more, like the beta cuck you are, because not being gimped is a feature in 2010.

The whole point of overclocking has always been to be a smarter consumer and use your own knowledge and skills to spend less money for sometimes greater result.

If they ever invent single use water bottles, you'll spend extra for re-usable bottles because it's a feature!

What about a potential 4790k upgrade? Shouldn't cost much if I trade the 4690k in and wont be needing a new mobo

It's outdated as fuck; right now I'm using a PC with an i5-750, 4GB of RAM, a 5870 and no SSD. I'm not even poor I just really didn't want to upgrade until last year or so and yet all the GPU's available (and still available) were shit and I just didn't care, then the dollar in Canuckistan went to hell and I was expected to pay 30% more for the same shitty hardware I didn't want before so I've been waiting patiently for the shit coming this summer. In the end it'll pay off; I get better hardware and the dollar is recovering steadily so I'll probably pay less for it too. It also gave me some time to think about a new monitor...I almost fell for the Ultrawide meme but I think I'll steer clear of that for now.
>>
>>332652732

I finally have a more than decent PC, which games should I try to experiment with its power? MGS V? The Witcher 3?
>>
>>332655592
Rise of the Tomb Raider has very pretty graphics. 2013 Tomb Raider too, and is supposed to be a better game.

Star Wars Battlefront is also very impressive.

MGS V is a lot of desert, so it doesn't really show off your GPU much. Witcher III is pretty but everyone has already seen it.
