Snatcher for the SEGA-CD is probably the definite version, so no harm no foul
Yu-No's PC version uses the PC-98 graphics, and you can patch in the music as well, so that's good. Shame the fullscreen is using bilinear filtering though.
Policenauts unfortunately I'm not a big fan of those graphics. They're not terrible, pretty passable, but I really love them PC-98 dithering.

The entire mechanic behind the game is pretty neat. Being able to jump to different sections of possible timelines to influence choices was super neat and really isn't done often (if even at all, really). Plus it had some neat moments, especially in the batshit insane Epilogue. Only downside was all the 'repeatedly click this object to advance the story' bullshit.
so why was there so much hentai on PC-98? In my opinion, the only reason Policenauts has stuff like the breast bouncing is because it was expected for a game on that platform to have some kind of titillation. Lots of games that are just normal shooters in gameplay, but then H-scenes everywhere else.

Well if you already like the mechanic I won't bother going into it.
But it's a great game with a great story. Even though it uses the traditional girl-per-route system it actually creates a compelling story that doesn't just feel like you're just banging the girls and it actually feels like the story is going somewhere instead of just being a reward system. And then it ties everything up in a exploding fucking bang. The story really goes interesting places. And it's actually a point and click with free area roaming, not just a straight VN with zero interactivity.
It's like the greatest and most ambitious point and click game but you actually get to see some titties. Even though the sex doesn't hinder in any way the story, it's probably its biggest roadblock for it not being popular in the west. It's a great game, but most people will probably just disregard it as just another silly japanese titty game.
But you know, it's not for everyone, if you didn't find it anything special it's not something I would find strange.

yeah the mechanics are neat but unless you guide it you'll probably get stuck retreading ground over and over again. Also because the game is pretty unclear about proceed about certain things, and you need to use the gems to make the backtracking managable, but that's only clear if you've already gone through it or used a guide.
I also personally think the story falls apart in the end, and Ayumi's route was pretty shitty as far as forcing drama since its the only route Ayumi's personality is total different, but mainly my beef is the system mechanics and how the game decides to use them to cause you a lot of grief.

About 60 hours for the true ending, which forces you to clear all the normal endings.
I wouldn't say its difficult, but there are some situations where they make some weird design choices. If you get stuck just open the image that comes with the fan translation, it tells you how to clear every ending.
And straightforward? No. It's a time travelling story, and so the story is very branching with lot's of choices. And you need to clear all the end branches to clear the true ending. But don't get overwhelmed with it. Just play the game normally, there is no way to fuck your save up.

It's pretty long and a few aspects are not easy. Several things required to get the true ending require very specific things done in very not intuitive ways. If the hook gets you, you can probably make it there, or you could just guide it. It's much less painful if you use a guide.
It's not as bad as Saya no Uta, since there's no hidden time limit on anything, but something like the shack will probably get you at least once.
