She is not Midna.
No personality yet shows up more than any other partner. Is supposedly key to the whole master sword creation thing but really has no relevance at all. Constant fucking interruptions to tell you the most obvious shit. Tries to have a tearjerker ending when no one gave a fuck about her in the first place.
Seriously, what is the relevance of Fi being in the master sword? What was the relevance of the master sword story at all? It doesn't explain shit not only because there already was an explanation but because it still starts off as MasterSword0.5 which "just exists" which is no different to just having the master sword exist.
It baffles me how praised Skyward Sword's story is when it's so fucking bad.

Her personality is great in Hyrule Warriors. Right mixture of sassy robot and wise maid.
You got that in SS too, but she also got burdened with the hand holding tutorial stuff, a tacked on motion control feature that wasn't needed, and 4th wall breaking battery stuff that seems to trigger people.
There's nothing wrong with Fi herself. she just sadly got saddled with needless extras as the sidekick. If Midna was the same character but with more tutorials people would probably hate her too.
Also, people do tend to over exaggerate, especially to be in line with popular opinion. Navi for example is nowhere near as bad as people make out.

Not the anon you're replying to but I've played every Zelda under the sun and there is no other captain obvious partner like Fi in the entire series. Not even Navi. Navi existed to help you get used to the entirely new play style of the series. Fi just straight up babies you and acts like you've never played a video game before and have the attention span of a trout.

Navi being annoying is just a meme for normies to spout just so they can appear knowledgeable about a game they've never played for nerd cred. Same as the water temple being too hard.
Note that the meme is "Hey! Listen!" in sequence despite the fact that she only ever says "Hey!" and only follows with "Listen!" if you consciously press the button to call her up and read her reminder.
You can go the whole game without reading her reminders. You're given no such luxury with Fi.

To add to that, there are literally only 5 times Navi forcefully gives you a tutorial: 1. When you're approaching a climbable vine in the first dungeon.
2. When you're about to open a door for the first time in the first dungeon
3. When you're about to push a block for the first time, in the first dungeon
4. To warn you about spike traps and to teach you how to use z targeting to look around the corner in the second dungeon
5. When you're sneaking past the moblins to teach you how to use Z targeting to look around the corner.
I guess that's too much for some people.

I meant in regards to her being the master sword. The concept of such an iconic part of the series being given a personality or motives is cool, but there's nothing really to it, she just happens to be tied to the master sword.
And don't act as if Fi's interruptions aren't far worse than partners in the other games, especially something like the King of Red Lions. Criticising something isn't an autistic fit.
