It was presented in 2006 as FFVersusXIII, made entirely by Tetsuya Nomura as a Kingdom Hearts clone with guns and shit. Nomura proved to be incompetent so this game was trapped in development hell until 2013, when it was remade for PS4 and XBoxOne as FFXV. Nomura got his ass kicked out of the development team and Hajime Tabata, who successfully made FFType0 took his place as a development leader.
About the game itself we know this:
>War between Niflheim and Lucis has resulted in the conquest of the latter and the (probable) death of Noctis' father, Regis.
>Niflheim has an emperor, Eidolas, but it seems he is more like a puppet king in the hands of more capable officers, including but not limited to Aranea Highwind (a dragoon, Lightning-like lady) and a guy who wears a fedora (I cannot remember his name).
>Noctis himself is the son of Regis. He decides to take revenge against Niflheim and three of his friends come with him. He seems to be bethroted to Princess Luna, but he's probably gay.
>Prompto Argentus seems to be the newest one. He's that blonde guy with guns.
>Ignis "stupid science" is that 100% sure gay guy with glasses. He's something like Noctis' advisor.
>Gladiolus is the big, strong guy.
>Princess Luna is that blond girl in OP's webm. She used to be called Princess Stella Nox Fleuret, but Tabata turned her into a strong independent woman. Probably, she is under arrest by Niflheim.

Except that isn't what's happening, Tabata said they made the Dawn trailer specifically because they wanted to polish up the actual game instead of focusing on making a big trailer at that time, and it's been over 6 months since then and we are now going to be seeing the promotion for the final game, the entire game itself is already confirmed to be playable from start to finish over 3 months ago and their development milestones were in check specifically for this event

I don't remember how it worked to be honest, but considering the battle system in the demo was provisional in many ways, I wouldn't place too much importance in it. The early FF demos are always quite different form the final product - the FFVIII demo had Rinoa playable during the SeeD exam for example.

I know. But considering devs spend more money on marketing than actual dev process makes me wonder if they can't spend some of that extra dosh on more artists.
It's mind-boggling the amount of resources that was put on making FF7-9. They have so many unused set pieces enough to fill in 1 more disc of content. Marketing budget wasn't as bloated back then so if we can return to those times, it'd be perfect.

Ah. Shame. I really hoped that GS put out that video based on rumors. After all, they've put out cocksure videos and articles based on nothing but rumors and "leaks" before. PS4K being a recent example. Eurogamer said while it exists, it's more likely that it'll only have improved BD and HDMI capabilities to output/upscale 4K while other outlets are 100% convinced that it will have new hardware capable of 4K gaming.

First and foremost, Japan really enjoyed the game. Second and formost, America really rated the game well (83% by critics, 8.0 user average). Third and formost, the game sold 6.2 million copies. Fourth and formost, the game got a subseries because of demand from the world for such.
