That's just splitting hairs though. The point is that Zack dies fighting Shinra, but Cloud is left behind. Whether he's battling an army or just a couple grunts doesn't really matter. Cloud adopts Zack's persona. All CC did was give us a scene where we see Cloud taking on Zack's "legacy." If anything, it clarifies a bit of Cloud's insanity at the beginning of FFVII.

Well the nature of the delivery in FFVII is a bonus side story event that you can never encounter in the game if you don't look for it. The crudeness of it isn't surprising.
For the context of Crisis Core, it's just drumming up the dramatic moment and giving Zack perhaps a more heroic looking death, but the meaning in both deliveries is still the same. Zack must die so Cloud can become Zack.

The way I see it, if you were to use a 10 point scale, the average final fantasy is a 6-7 with the occasional 9, whereas Dragon Quest is a stable 8 on nearly every entry. Sometimes the risks pay off, but sometimes they feel forced and the core game can't hold up the new mechanics. In my opinion the characters are becoming increasingly shallow, something I hope they solve.

I'm thinking sooner as well. They've got banner ads up in London, and TV commercials ready to air in Japan straight after the show. They're all hyping this up and I doubt they'll be able to do this again for a September launch successfully.
