My board can SLI but I really don't want to fuck around with all the issues it has and the cost to performance just isn't there to justify it for me. Might do it in future but probably upgrading to the generation after pascal or maybe AMD will get their shit together.

For some reason a specific fan header refuses to work with a specific fan. The header works fine with other fans of the same model and other ones, the fan works on other headers but never shall the two meet. Asus just told me to reset my CMOS and that did nothing. It may be a bios issue but this board doesn't have flashback and I don't want to RMA over a fan. Just weird though.

believe it or not, a 980ti is not this huge overkill at 1080p. I like to play with all settings maxed (minus AA) and in games like witcher 3, division, rise of tomb raider, AC the 980ti does drop below 60 fps at times.
Geothermal valley or the soviet installation in RotTR for instance, drop often below 60 fps.
In the division, even without using those nvidia exclusive shadows, the game likes to drop in the high 40s at times.
Witcher 3, without AA and hair AA drops to the low 50s in big forests.
My system does fine in benchmarks and the numbers it puts out are in line with what it should be putting out. It's just that 980ti if you like to play with maxed out details (again no 8x MSAA or other retarded settings like ubersampling) it's not the "1080p overkill" that is portrayed to be.

You could try uninstalling all drivers using a tool like DDU and installing the latest crimson drivers. Is your PSU good enough? Does it overheat during games? Other than that, I can't say. You could RMA it.
