4K has reached the mid point. You can get a 4K TV for less than $1k. Premium tier 4K tv's can be had for less than $2k. Although I'm expecting 4K to be 720p. yes, but if the leaks are to be believed sony has said it's gonna contain better hardware and if you consider it at the 300/500/600$ range they can cram a 280x/380 equivalent or higher in there for that price since amd is close to releasing new hardware, so it'll be a fairly competent gaming machine compared to the current ps4 with almost guaranteed 1080p/60fps stable

Consoles started because, by making a specialized PC, you could reduce the cost significantly, and PCs were extremely expensive.
