I had a neat thought about possible Slaanesh lore.
I'd imagine any time the warp opens up and spits out the demons of Slaanesh, there is no death, no pain, no harm.
Imagine you're an Imperial Guardsmen, wary and tired from guarding a world that borders the warp, I'd imagine you've been sitting at your post for emperor knows how long, fighting with your own eyelids to stay awake, lest the commissar find you asleep and have you hung up by your feet the next morning, or just outright execute you for insubordination. You've been here for weeks, maybe months, day in day out. They tell you chaos is out there, blah blah, for the emperor, blah blah your job is important since you're the first line of defense. But nothing ever happens. You just watch the eye spin, or whatever warp hole that's sitting in distance.
Then, in the dead of the night, you see a small bit of light in the distance. You nudge your out-post partner awake since he has the binoculars, and ask him what the fug that thing is out there. He gives one look, and grows pail stuttering as he spots what look to be daemons.
You're about to sound the alarm, when you stop, since you hear something odd coming from the direction the light is. It's music. Happy, jolly music, and laughter, and moans too? It sounds like someone is having a party out there. One gigantic, party to end all parties, the mother of all parties. You grab the binoculars from your buddy telling him to shut the fug up, as you look through them. Food, wine, women, hell children too even, all you can see is whatever you want to see, whatever you desire to see is in that festive light before you. Your friend might see naked men, you might see women, you might see tentacle monsters, but you only see what you want to see.
You're so tired, you haven't had a real drink, or a real meal in so long....but that party...they have everything. They have EVERYTHING.
So yeah, entire regiments taken over without a fight. Slaanesh is a peaceful god!

Not the standard Guardsman, but it does happen, usually what happens is if a Guard regiment takes a world, they set up shop and become the ruling class, but that happens only if the regiment did something exceptionally crazy like taking down a Titan or something.

The Skitarii armies of the Admech are also separate entity because Admech itself is technically an separate, independent empire, that only has very close ties with the Imperium.

I was worried since the dev had only one shitty game to their name and looked like a shovelware dev. I'm so glad I was wrong.
I've put more hours into it than anything else over the last week even though its only in beta.
All it needs is a bit more polish and the Eldar fleet. I'm hoping that the campaign has more cutscenes than what we've seen so far. They capture the 40K feel better than anything in recent memory.

The whole point of Space Marines is for them to be the best possible soldiers there is. They were made to conquer the friggin galaxy from all sorts of unholy, and dangerous deamons and xenos after all.
The Space Marine chapters of the 41st millenium, are a mere shadow of their former glory, and Imperium uses them, because they use every available resource they can to survive. There have been attempts to control the Space Marines more strictly, but usually they have ended up in a disastrous internal strife, which is why the Imperium would rather not waste time with that shit.

As long as you are human, and serve da Emperor and Imperium well, you can fuck as many gay asses, little kids, or friggin animals. As long as they ain't Xenos that is, and even that is not due to the sexual depravity aspect of it, it is because Imperium in general, sees any fraternization with Xenos as borderline heresy.

Imperium does use space strikes and shit when it can. Usually however, when Infantry is deployed, along with Space Marines, it is because the Imperium CAN'T just bombard everything to smithereens from space.
Imperium is a realm stretched thin, with the only resource in abundance that they posses, being the sheer amount of humans they possess.
They can't just bombard their planets to shit, because they can't fucking rebuild many of the priceless installations or structures that are on the surface.
Shit like hive cities, forge worlds etc, are worth billions and billions of human lives to the Imperium, because unlike the installations and facilities on those worlds, there are always more humans to go.

They will be Black and Grey with an eye as the symbol. They are non-religious secular chapter who fights for reviving scientific interest in humanity and restoring justice in the face of the imperium tyranny. Space Marines usually don't worship the Emperor as a god. They have a cult of personality around him and their Primarch. It's kind of hard to take the whole god thing seriously when you've been turned into the descendent of one of his children and learned all the stories of the time he used to walk and talk like a man.
Like a certain other technically heretical faction, the Ecclesiarchy puts up and shuts up because Space Marines are too valuable and far too autonomous for them to do anything about it.

Thing is, they weren't failures at all.
First of all, Abbadon is cheeky at not providing objectives until everyone's sworn to service and rearing to go. He bosses people around enroute, not beforehand. He's never ever actually pointed at Terra on a map and told everyone to skullfuck reality on their way over to kick in the front gates.
Second, a lot of his goals were achieved in each of the thirteen crusades. His usual modus operendi is to show up with dickloads of troops, marines, heretics, renegades, daemons and cultists and just spread a shitload of chaos. He spearheads his assault direct to whatever mcguffin or tasty boypussy he's after, takes it and then his main, personal force fucks off. The rest of the 'crusade' is the other legions (usually the world eaters and emperor's children) causing as much of a problem for every planet they've come across, setting up cults and wreaking havoc.
It's less of thirteen 'failed' crusades against terra and more like thirteen bloody shopping trips before he's finally mustered up enough power to make the ernest push, which is right now in the canon. Granted, the first two or three were attempts to keep the Horus Heresy's momentum going while there were still primarchs around, but he must've reasoned that they need to disappear over time before he can make the final push.
Abbadon's incompetence is just a /tg/ meme, I assure you. He's playing the long game here and has plenty patience. This behaviour is even reflected in his treatment of the Chaos Gods. He's done so much shit he could probably throw his dick to any of the four and be made a daemon prince right then and there, but he knows the Chaos Gods want him to perpetuate the conflict, not resolve it. They want him to submit and struggle, not triumph or outwit them. By teasing them with a chance to win him over, they're pumping him full of superpowers and getting nothing in return.

Even worse is when somebody is spamming light attacks, or got close enough to, I keep mashing space to do a backwards roll yet it never fucking comes out... until I'm in downed state that is, THEN my character will roll. Its beyond infuriating.
