ITT: Games only you remember.
Why did they make it TPS?
>>332465090
Heretic is a pretty well known series.
None can compete.
>>332465090
Thanks to Konami fucking up its sequel this series is deader than dead.
Never seen this one posted.
>>332465906
played the SHIT out of a demo CD with this on it but i never played the actual game.
one of my favorite games of all time, but no one ever posts about this masterpiece
I remember this being decent, never see it mentioned anywhere though
>>332468091
Tricky was better
>>332466135
I played a Hugo game on PC, good times
The game
>>332468413
I've only played the demo of it, and was the shit.
how good is the full version?
Loved this one
This was the hypest shit, yet there was no hype.
Shame about the sequels.
>>332468574
I've never actually finished it
i couldn't understand shit when i played it, so i dropped it
i kept watching the video files of the different eras and the music
How did you even play this game? Controllers were beyond retarded
>>332465090
Looks like the little ferry thing at the barbarian city in Everquest

So good, but was not able to beat it as a kid.
>>332468806
GENERAL CHAOS WAS MY BOY
>>332468963
I played this after playing solatorobo. While the game is easy, the bosses were at times pretty fucking brutal.
>>332465090
But is it good? Blood II taught me not to trust early 3D sequels to Doom/Build engine games.
this bad boy
Yup
>>332465234
Because they wanted to get in on that newfangled Tomb Raider action.
Of course it was done all wrong, nobody had any idea what they were doing back then, except for Carmack's Quake Engine.
>>332469157
Played a shitload of the sequel. Never played the original, though.
>>332465090
I loved Heretic 2 despite being so different from 1. The staff combat was amazing and was basically an early version of the Jedi Knight games. Also the intro cinematic was fun.

BEER BEER BEER TIDDLY BEER BEER BEER
>>332466742
I love this game, I still remember riding around that motorbike then going out to have a date with one of the waifus.
>>332469157
Nightmare monsters, everyone played that.
Of all the years I've been here, I have literally never EVER seen a thread made about this game.

>>332469167
Sometimes I just put on a youtube playlist of this game's soundtrack. So good.
>>332465090
Man, I wish this shit worked on my computer. The deathmatch was actually pretty enjoyable in this one.
>>332469321
I remember when this was a top game on GameFAQs. I never played it though.
One of my favorite games of all time. Rip in pepperonis freespace 3.At least there's still Blue Planet
>>332468826
I remember wanting to try that game because you could pick whatever vehicle you wanted to play as by scanning it in game.
>>332469146
>>332465090
Not bad bad, but still kinda mediocrte
>A shit ton of places in the loading screen map you never go to
>Staff basically overpowers everything. Seriously, you will gib the endboss with it
>Items are mostly kinda meh
>Same for the weapons
But it's still worth playing once or twice.
>>332467451
Bitch please I have it on steam
The only 10/10 I ever played.
>>332469519
This was middle school right here. I can't believe it's still going. I was really into the forums.Shortbus?

>>332466964
Was this one any good?
>>332468826
I played the shitty mobile game that came out around the time the first movie was released. It was $5.99 and it was on the dumbphones. Such a sack of shit.
I dare any of you to say you played this piece of garbage.
"I smell something over here."
Does anyone remember this game? It was too much fucking fun.

All I know about this game is that it uses this song without acknowledgement.

>came out on Ps2
>used dpad for movement

The story, the gameplay, and the soundtrack were all wonderful, but the one thing that pushed it to the top for me was the atmosphere. Creepier than most horror games at times.

SIGHT OF GARNER

I love severance, killing guys with other guys' arms/legs/heads never gets old
>>332468826
I played this a lot because I was never allowed to get GTA and scanning cars was the closest thing to stealing them.
I wish I could go back to the days of playing Graal Online so bad.
half man half monstrosity
>>332469909
>>332469659
It's a shame the kickstarter for the spiritual successor seemed like such a fucking scam, but I'd still pay money to see this kind of setting return.

>Games only you remember threads
The trouble with these threads is that if you actually do come up with a game only you remember, there's nothing to talk about.
Unless it looks sick as hell in a screenshot, I guess.
>>332470240
I remember this game was supposed to be the next big thing after halo. Not so much.
the cinematic scenes are still in my head. they creeped me the fuck out

>>332471247
Oh fuck. G-Nome. Like, once a year I want to remember this game and post a hundred threads on /v/ describing it really poorly until someone can remember.
Didn't this game have segments where you could leave your robot and go in buildings? I always got fucked up there.
>>332470297
Fuck this picture made me hear the dot dot dotting of Mega Man's footsteps, the robot beep/honk alert noise, the wooshing of doors opening and closing, all amid that ambient silence of digging.
Then those comfy feels of finally returning to the surface and getting peaceful bird chirps or music. Legends is fucking good.
>>332467910
I played this. Picked it up full price $50 thinking it was gonna be similar to Bad Fur Day. Sold to to GS for something insane like less then $5, but didn't have the social capacity to say "No that's a ripoff" at the time.
>>332469610
This game was fucking freaky. I don't remember anything about it other than the weird looking character.
>>332471247

>>332468194
essential cousin-core
>>332471094
Yeah, you can reset your character now. I assume you get to keep some stuff. Also, whenever you beat the boss, you can reset your character, and gain some permanent bonus depending on your difficulty options on that playthrough. So if you have enough autisms, you can theoretically give your character just about every skill.
I was the only person I knew who had a copy of this game.
>>332470910
bought this from a salvation army when i was like 10. fun af
This game was fucking shit.
>>332471094
Depends on how old. They deleted accounts for innactivity before 2008. If your account is still around and you were reasonably invested in the game, you're probably very very wealthy, which makes starting up again significantly easier. Of course, you can always just make a new account, introduce yourself as a returning player, and waste away the hours in chat.
>>332471507I have almost 300 ascensions and still am missing skills kill me please ;_;
This game was fucking top notch.

I wish it was easier to find a copy of any Monster Rancher. I loved Advance 2, and I'd love to play 4, but it's just so damn hard to find.

I mean I donated and played pre 08. Would they have deleted me if I was a donor?
I have never heard anyone talk about this game

This might be the worst written and edited Wikipedia page I've seen in like ten years.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thandor:_The_Invasion
Depth Dwellers
This is the first FPS I played ever way back when I was a kid.
I vividly remember playing it on an old PC with Windows 3.11 and DOS, without music because apparently that PC didn't have the drivers or some obscure bullshit from old computers.
It is a very boring game, super repetitive and samey. You were a guy who rescued prisoners in a catacomb, prison and mines, and beat up some robotic dudes with only three pistols: a shitty one, a faster one, and a flamethrower.
I played it until I was sick of it. We didn't have many games so I had to meticullously play it in order to find all the secrets and whatnot. As it was shareware, I only played the first chapter, but it was long enough to me not caring about it. Besides, I was a little stupid kid who didn't know english and had to play games along with a dictionary by my side.
I had fun nonetheless.
Then I played some other games as I discovered the world of shareware games: One Must Fall, Wolfenstein 3D, Nitemare 3D, I even ended playing Doom's first chapter.
So that's it. A game nobody remembers and there's no reason at all to come back to this game, but I remember it fondly.
>>332471508
>kid
>don't really understand the game fully
>my monsters were shit
>lose tournaments
I remember the rage...that prepubescent rage.
>>332471768
No, if you had any Mr. Store items your account still exists.
>>332468890
I remember the magazine ads for that one.
>>332471797
Never played it. Don't know what the gameplay is like. But the cover makes me very nostalgic for some reason. Either because I saw it in the store a lot, or from G4TV. Thanks for the trip, I guess.
>>332465906
Not only did I love this game when I was a kid, but my mom being unclear on "Ninja game" at the store once was the reason I got Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, one of my favorite games of all time.
Anyway, my answer for this thread

>>332468641
Huh.
I really need help and I think this thread is kinda on-topic.
I can't remember this game I used to play when I was a kid. It was first person set in what seemed like a weird mayan-aztec area. I could never get past the first level because I was like 4 at the time but I have the memory of the begining burned into my head. You start in front of a body of water from which you can emerge on the side and go up. There is a collectible in the water I believe. Once you go up to the left behind, you have to break the wall and there is a ladder.
Please I beg of you I've been trying to remember the game for years. I played it on windows 95

There was a game I played on PC back when I was younger, and for the life of me I cannot pinpoint exactly what game it was.
All I can remember is you play as maybe a bald guy running around in a cemetery killing what either was zombies or skeletons, or both, I don't remember the way you killed them but the camera style was what I believe is similar to AoE2, that sideways type view.
That's all I can remember. Anyone have a single clue?

I think it's easily one of the best games on the Xbox, though that may not be saying much. It's a fast-paced third-person shooter that's focused on boost mechanics that allow you to fly, so you want to go through the stages quickly using the boost mechanics. Once you get them down you can use boosting to fly indefinitely.
Unfortunately all the videos I've seen of it on Youtube don't showcase that and only have the player running around and treating it like any other boring TPS, which is a great disservice.

It might not work too well on modern machines, though I can't say why. On my previous Windows 7 machine it wouldn't play any sound, but on my current one it runs fine.
I think you could figure out most of the gameplay mechanics yourself, but the one thing that baffled me for quite a while is that you have a limited supply of Tone, and each building made uses up Tone, so if you have no Tone left your workers won't build anything and you'll have to destroy a building to make a new one (outside of other Tone resources). The main way to get around this is to warp your buildings around rather than making new ones.

Doesn't matter what you believe, the past doesn't change even if the history books get rewritten. We made the third person camera famous, everyone wanted to be the next Tomb Raider, including lots of games that really shouldn't have tried. The whole standard third-person setup, from the shoulder angle to using the R-stick to wrestle control of the camera from whatever algorithm thought the texture of the nearest wall was the most important thing to observe during a boss fight, we made that happen.
Eh, but the kids today don't care about anything that they weren't around for, of course. Have fun playing your "Flappy Bird" or whatever.

Or you're fucking retarded >hur dur Lara is sexist and problematic let's shrink her tits down to a B/C cup and take away her curves. But hey, you're stupidity will be you're own downfall when you're games start selling like shit again and the Square sells the Tomb Raider IP to someone else. Oh and by the way third person cameras existed before 1996 dumb piece of shit. But of course Core used that in THEIR games so it's obviously bad. Except when it's the exact opposite and actually made Tomb Raider games that were both sellable, playable, and memorable for more then a 5 hour playthrough.

The original Tomb Raider games were total failures on a basic mechanical level. The shooting lacked both impact and accuracy. There was no real feedback for the player. The puzzles sucked, and the games seemed to be built around trial and error death traps.
They simply were not fun. They weren't fun back then, and they certainly aren't fun now. No body talks about them because no body had fun playing them. Lara Croft, the character, was the draw. She's a success in marketing, despite the awful game design.

It was a good game though, and the story wasn't bad near the end. If it was too hard for you you weren't playing it right, the trick was that stat points go up based on number of hits. If you just sat outside the windmill town for a couple hours fighting the 7hit windcutter enemies in the forest (not killing them, just standing in the corner letting them attack you) your defense would be max and you would take 1 damage from almost anything in the game.

>If you think the games of the 1990s are ever under any circumstances going to measure up to even the most casual modern game

Funny how I've played Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider once in a full day without wanting to ever play them again, yet can play just every other Tomb Raider game in existence including the shitty GameBoy games multiple times and need more then a few days to do it. What you're literally saying is
>If you think an actual restaurant serving good quality food is better then McDonalds then you're mistaken XDXDXD
