>in Crysis, in the snow levels, ammo and weapons are frozen, even in your hands
>if you stayed still for too long (15 seconds), ice will show up on your screen and every 20 seconds or so your gun would shake as your character was cold, even when aiming
>after shooting, smoke would come out of the barrel and an "hot" effect would distort the area above the barrel to indicate that it is hot (what you see in movies when people are in a desert)

Out of the 11 levels of Crysis, only 2 are snow levels. Why don't developers bother to put this kind of detail anymore?

If only they had used the time to make the actual game good.
>>
>>332454397
I'll never understand why they stick so much aesthetic details in Crysis. But never bothered fixing the aliens and helicopters following you wherever you go in Crysis even when invisible.
>>
What's the "crysis sucks" meme?
It's pretty good looking WITH good gameplay for 2007.
>>
>>332456116
It's not a meme when it's true. Crysis is a subpar FPS and a glorified benchmark.

You can stop pretending otherwise, Cervat.
>>
>>332455962
>shooting aliens is the worst part of the game
>It's also the majority of the game
>>
>>332456116
I don't know man.
I enjoyed it a lot back when I first played it.
I thought it did a lot of things very well.
I especially liked the gun-modding system.
>>
>>332454397
>Why don't developers bother to put this kind of detail anymore?
Consoles. There's your answer.
>>
>>332456116
dunno, but maybe because at that time there were still good solo fps (fear, stalker, ect.).
But i really liked it. Crysis 2 was a big disappointment.
>>
>>332456548
No man. Crysis is a pretty good fps, the level design is very interesting as it will always give you multiple ways to get to an objective. Some ways are better for a furtive approach, some ways are better for a rambo approach. I really loved the free choice they gave you and the gunplay is pretty decent.

Only thing i'd say is disappointing in Crysis is the I.A, but it's decent enough to allow you to create diversions and infiltrate a base without every enemy knowing your position when one guy spots you.

The Division is TECHNOLOGY incarnate.

It's the only game in like 5 years to do this shit.
>>
>>332456850
This. Most of the devs already struggle to deliver a sold framerate at 30 fps. So you can forget such details.
Reminds me of how tw3 was butchered when they realized that it won't do it on consoles.
>>
>>332457147
I like that snowstorms in the city accumulate on your character with heavier storms leaving more snow on you and lighter snowfalls only leaving specks. Also the barrel of some guns become red due to overheating them after shooting for too long
>>
>>332456548
Try actually switching modes and not using just stealth+armor
>>
>>332457031

Crysis is pretty cool if you decide not to do these two things:

- Abuse invisibility and limit yourself to like, 5 uses of it per checkpoint.

- Speedrun the game. Because you can really just skip a big chunk of the game by sprinting and jumping through it.

It's a misunderstood game, lots of memesters insisted it's shit for some reason.
>>
>>332457457
>- Abuse invisibility and limit yourself to like, 5 uses of it per checkpoint.
What i personally do is that instead of limiting myself, i just avoid using invisibility at all. If i want to infiltrate a base i'll go from cover to cover by crawling (fast) to it, and i often hide in bushes. It's pretty neat, i wish Invisibility wasn't as OP as it is because it remove a lot of challenge if you don't do it right
>>

Can't believe this was made by the same company that made Watch Dogs

Makes me wonder what the Division would have been like had it been PC exclusive. It might have actually delivered on its promises and not sucked.

Think of how much deeper and more enriching games like Fallout: New Vegas could have been if they took advantage of the PC platform's memory specs. It's fucking heartbreaking.
>>

Because most developers aren't making proof of concept games to sell their game engine.

crysis was actually incredible. they got everything right except for the alien part being linear.
people hated the game though because they're retarded. I don't actually even know why. literally if it was open world the entire time similar in vein to a metroid vania it would've been THE best game ever made. the physics, movement everything was great.

Budgets have become tighter, there is less funding going around, turning a profit is harder thanks to the world economy after the shitstorm of 2008.

And where did that get crytek? Almost drove them n the ground. Attention to detail is fine when you're blizzard and your pockets are so stuffed with money you can wipe your ass with $100 bills till you die and not have a care in the world. Most devs don't have resources to do this kind of shit, and honestly crytek didn't either, they overstretched, which is why the game turned out mediocre overall

Shit was actually really fun.
>>

Yeah because there arent 20 billlion ps4 fanboy threads per day. Its more fustration that we have machines capable of so much more not having potential realised because console users wont boycott thier company of choice into steping up their game. The ps4 should never have had to have a .5 upgrade just for 4k netflicks and 60fps 1080p and microsoft and nintendo should have aborted their abominations. But ficktards just HAD to go buy them.

Anyone else remember the original Crysis multiplayer?

Thing is because of that you had no liberty. No strategical liberty, it was just shoot and throw grenades. Really is an annoying part as i'm playing right now, hope this is going to end soon because that reminds me of Crysis 2 & 3 and i absolutely hated those type of parts in those games

The funny thing is I fully agree with this post, I really don't get TECHNOLOGY fags who would rather have devs working to put in bullshit effects that either get shoved down your throat or go only noticed by autistic faggots when they basically happen when you don't actually play the game
I would rather have devs focus on games being fun, this is why I can't stand people who can say that GTA IV is somehow better than V because of stupid TECHNOLOGY shit
>>

GTA V had more TECHNOLOGY anon. Sure, GTA V removed a few TECHNOLOGY that were present in IV, but they added a lot more.

>And where did that get crytek? Almost drove them n the ground
What drove them to the ground is two mediocre & expensive to make sequels. Crysis 1 was financially a net profit, even though they said the release sale were a bit disappointing compared to their prevision (something around 1.2 millions copies while their were aiming at at least 2 millions considering the hype)

gtaiv is a steaming turd of nofuniness but STILL people are retarded enough to feel a nostalgic vibe for this boring pile of crap just for the sake of hating gtaV.

GTA V:
>leaves (of trees) get in the way of your Helicopter's blade, making it rotate and go unstable whereas GTA IV allows the blade to clip through it like there's nothing
>When you jump in water, your character will dive (seriously that shit is fucking annoying)
>Character stops when running toward a wall
>When you try to climb a car hood from the side, it will slide on it. But you have to get it right or else you'll just climb it and will end up losing time whereas in IV you were just used to go around the car
>lens distortion when aiming with sniper

GTA IV had it's share of annoying technologies too but they weren't that much present

Are you saying the hundred of hours i have spent playing GTA IV when V wasn't even announced was just me pretending to like it? The multiplayer was awesome man. Thinking i'm just pretending because you didn't enjoy the game is just retarded.

I'm talking about the solo, of course the multiplayer of gtav is a fucking disgrace. I just wanted to play with a friend and was rejected because of my level/money. It's just a brainless grind simulator.

>>332464209
There is no immersion. You get a little bit of story at the beginning and a little bit of story at the end. The plot is incredibly obvious and the gameplay boils down to, "Can I kill these guys? No. Find the exact same weapon with higher numbers.".
