Just make extreme character. For example in fallout, 1 int makes every dialogue option gibberish. Or 10 luck + couple of luck perks makes every other skill useless since everyone around you gets self-owned with their weapons exploding in hands anyway.

Heard a lot about it but never got around to try it. Don't really like DnD.
>>
>>332451820
It's decent if you actually enjoy DnD3.5 system. It tries to simulate a PnP adventure as close as it is possible in a singleplayer game.

Wouldn't recommend if you are not a fan of DnD
>>
>>332452475
You have a lot of settings to choose from with DnD though and Bioware is loose enough with the rules that you could play the entire game without understanding anything but the bare minimum
>>
>>332450634
But it is greath. The worse part is, people played vanilla, made an opinion, and now everything naybody ever say on Pillar is tainted.

Especially since they always fuckign complain on Balance, completely ignoring that WM patches and items are much closer to BG2 now. Abyddons Hammer is basicaly Carsomyr lvl of fun.
>>
>>332452836
shame they gutted the Cypher class in the latest patch
>>
>>332452836

I agree with you fellow Anon. Patch 3.0 and the 2 expansions back have made PIllars a pretty good game.

I would say like 8 or 8.5/10 overall. I appreciated the added stronghold content and quests, the removed trash mobs in Caed Nua and the expansion areas were great.
>>
>>332452913
Yes and No. No instawin by simply using mindplague from stealth to bypass every bounty/large group, but singular abilities are stronger than ever.

Played PoE last time on release as a dwarven fighter tank, pretty fun
>last boss fight
>first try, so don't know what to expect
>nearly whole party dies to AoE except PC, dwarven tank
>manage to outlive everything thrown at me
>final melee
>both me and boss at last few hp points
>finish the fight by a critical stab with a spear
felt pretty satisfying

are dps paladins decent now? want to play one for expansions
any cool weapons to look forward to?
>>
>>332453264
Focus gen is only slow early on. With correct usage and skill you produce pretty much as much as you want. And then for endgame you got Protoss Blades that boost the damage output of a melee enemy tremendously and give you massive focus. I gave grieving mother Twin Stings and she produces enough for constant AoE Prone
>>
>>332453686
it just feels like my char isn't generating near the focus it used to
especially not with all skills having drastically increased focus costs
>>
>>332452836
Items and balance won't make up for boring setting and companions.
>>
>>332453546
Paladins are not very good at DPS. You can get Sworn enemy, giving large bonus vs 1 enemy, but outside of that you don,t have the largest toolset.

DPS fighter tho are AWESOME. Seriously, after the early hurdles they have the best accuracy and very good damage boosts. Also with armored grace and Durgan steel they can wear heavy armor with the recovery of a robe.

As far as cool weapons, there are Soulbound weapons, who start very good, and increase in power whenever you attain an objective. As an example, one of them is a Anti vessel( ie corporalundead/construct) 2 hander. Eventually it get 25% autokill on undead, buff on you and a ressurect on it.

Another is a bow that does either Pierce or Shock damage, debugg the enemy shock resist, cast protect you from elements etc.

Note that some of those are class restricted tho.
>>
>>332453805
Again, later on it starts building up fast. Just make sure you take every focus gen and dmg skills you can. Focus is directly proportionnal to your damage, so you need to have good dps.

>>332453847
Most of the companions are fine, outside Devill of Carroc and Pallegina.

>>

>Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.
I think people are more mad about it not being what they promised than it being a bad game.
>>
>>332454687
>any other games that use 3.5?
NWN2 is a flagship 3.5 game, can't really think of any other games besides it and ToEE.
>>
>>332454741
That's kind of what I did with my game. Fighter, Akimbo Swords, with all the recovery and damage boosting perks I could grab.
>>
>>332454741

Boost Resolve, Str and Dex. Dex gives you that extra attack speed that helps you just put the damage out.
>>
>>332454943
yeah ok, in that case i might skip ToEE. never really liked nwn2 including the ruleset
>>
>>332454405
yeh, my build is a bit fucked up since I went with a 100% armor pen per shot blunderbuss build which isn't nearly as effective post patch
>>
How is Torment: Tides of Numenera?
I see it's in 'early access' but it's still 30 bux
>>
>>332454741
Might and dex as high as can be, perception is good. rest is whatever. Intellect render your buff longuer but the difference is minimal.

As for building it, you first want to choose early a good non soulbound weapon. Imo the better choice is Hours of St-Rumbald. The reason is that St-Rumbald can be enchanted to Legendary and has a inbuilt crit bonus. You can then Enchant it again with Durgan steel for even increased crit. Then, you need to stack accuracy. You can have gloves givign you +9, pallegina aura can give you + 6, buff from priest run the gamut to +15 or so. etc. Once you reach a certain point your attacks will basically always be crits outside of POTD, and even in POTD you'll see crits often. And those crits hurt (+Prone)

For skills, you want things like Armored grace ( reduced recovery = more attacks). Disciplined Barrage (+20 aim for a lil while, always good)
Specialisation in your weapon of choice. Sundering Blow and Charge(those are more endgame, but massively good).

If you do it well you get a guy with massive damage output while still reasonably tanky due to beign a fighter.Supplement with some debuff and eventually Petrify and outside the game superbosses nothing can survive more than 1 hit
>>
>>332455415
You couldn't know, but you can respec now. SOmewhat costly but it can work.

Personally in my last game i used the Pistol from Verzano workshop, with the included rogue Sneak Attack. With Kana chanting the reload song it served me well.

Might 20
Constitution 10

Perception 15
Intelligence 3 (can it even get that low?)
Resolve 10
be a proper stat allocation?

Underrail is not as good as the internet says it is. 15 hours in, and I feel ripped off.

Pillars Of Eternity is good.

Divinity: Original Sin is good solo and very good co-op.

Fallout 2 is good.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall is good.

Planescape: Torment is very good.

Tides of Numenera has really crappy combat and some of the most pretentious writing I have ever seen in a game. It's ok so far I guess, hopefully the finished product revises the writing and fixes the combat.

Haven't played Wasteland 2 but I'm looking forward to it.

>New bg1 expansion in a day or so
>finally get around to making a new character for it
>fighter(archer) gonna dual into mage
How fucked am I?
I'm not even sure what characters I'm gonna use.
Thinking MC, Imoen Thief>Mage, Safana, Xan, then I still need a couple of front liners one of which is preferably a cleric.
Maybe Branwen or Yeslick?
Then Cycling between EE characters for quest items and experience and using one of the new characters from the expansion after BG1.

Spending most of the new expansion without fighter abilities is probably gonna suck dick though, not sure why I'm doing this.
>>
>>332456687
I like Branwen
>>
>>332456037
Yes. The only thing you would really miss with that int is your self buff would have a very short duration. Simply forgo Disciplined barrage, and you should be perfectly fine.

Oh and you obviously would miss most interactions based on higher int, but you can make do with perception and resolve easily.
>>
>>332456687
>fighter(archer) gonna dual into mage
Archers are strong as fuck, especially in BG1
But dualing into mage will make your combat abilities a bit redundant
>>
>>332456920
Nah, Archers are strong as fuck.
But that's a Ranger subtype. I would have loved to have made an Archer but they can't dual into mages.

The archery is mostly just to make when not casting spells a bit more useful.
On my Sorcerer I could use a couple of spells to clear and entire room and still have plenty for the rest of a dungeon without needing to rest but mages don't really have that level of holdout.
I don't like abusing rest so I need something for the mage to do when not spamming spells.
>>
How is the controller support for Divinity Original Sin? I heard it was pretty good.
>>
>>332457776
I've heard the game works fine on a controller but I can't speak from experience. The game is turn based so you should be fine.

Divinity OS for sure. You can play it with a friend and the combat is great and there's lots of creative ways to solve quests. It has a weak main story but PoE's wasn't very good either. Make sure to get the pet talker perk. or you could pirate the GOG installers for both

So you're complaining about people not using a word correctly, even though you yourself don't know the meaning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuckold

>>332466403
Divinity: OS is fun, story is pretty basic stuff, combat is turn based. it's pretty good combat when you're fighting someone tough, sucks when you fight shit mobs or fights with lots of people involved.
sword coast legends isn't good at least, not sure if it would classify as shit though.
age of decadence has been praised by /v/ and so has underrail. no clue about the rest

What you're doing is the equivalent of giving people shit if they call a cat in a picture furry because "hurr durr these days the term only refers to the fetish" even though that is clearly, CLEARLY not true
>>
>>332466618
That's when you bring out midnight oil and fireballs or if you're a ranger you bring out your special arrows. Large fights are piss easy.

I'm gonna roll a BG2 character after I finish my Dark Souls run, I'm thinking a kensai/mage but I'm not sure, haven't played in like 10 years
>>
>>332466469

Guys? Answers please?
>>
>>332467698
I'm playing a fighter/mage and it's pretty fun once you get stoneskin.
>>

Play both in order. Here's a link to some mods and unofficial patches.

You don't really need any mods for FO1 though, I played it when it was on GOG for free and it worked fine
>>
>>332468202
Pretty sure GOG comes with the high resolution patch and some other unofficial mods by default.
>>
>>332467937
Cool I'm just gonna run with it. Played a ton of BG1 as a kid, only a little BG2 so I'm trying not to worry about every little detail
>>
>>332468256
I see, my bad then
>>
>>332468304
If you are going to play it as it is then you should keep in mind that in fallout 1 npcs have a habit of blocking your path. Save often unless you wan't to wait 10 minutes for Ian to nudge back.

And give him a ranged weapon early on so you can see what it does and avoid that mistake later
>>
What's your opinion on Age of Decadence, /v/?

sometimes i feel it requires too much minmax to do anything worthwhile

>still haven't moved away from infinity engine shit
>new games are infinity engine nostalgia bait
>other games are simplistic arkham style action rpgs
>after a while dungeon fags crawl up

fuck it

sometimes they're good games though like say Underrail

>37 hours in Fallout 4
If i could go back in time and stop myself from buying that game..
>>
>>332470179
Honestly though, why did you buy it in the first place? It always looked like it was gonna be an even more boring Skyrim

Sometimes in life you make a few mistakes. I´m just gonna stick to New vegas again.
>>
>>332470759
>shit writing
Because Fallout 2's writing was so good
>>
>>332470759
>quicksave combat
lemme guess, you brought a shitty build into depot A and blamed the game for your incompetence?
>no map
either remember how you went or make one yourself if you're not good enough

>undermeme
Fuck off you stupid tranny lover
>>
>>332461013

Damn. The music, the universe. It just feels so good. Is it my nostalgic goggles? What game to play to fill the void of Arcanum?
>>
>>332469254
You just got to go with the flow with that game man, and not worry about completing all the quests or seeing all the content on one playthrough. The only big problem is the ending, dealing with Agathoth is super hard unless you've got the right skills. You can always just walk away but that's lame.
>>
>>332469254
Age of Decadence is shit. Play Pillars instead.
>>
>>332470759
I disagree with your entire statement
>>
>>332472943
I know what you mean, once I started biting off what I could chew I started having more fun. Just feels like the main quest keeps stonewalling me with stat checks I can't meet, and no sidequests to level me up

Maybe I just allocated the wrong points but goddamn it sucks to realize my no-combat loremaster can't use his Sneak for anything

must be somethin wrong with me cause I'm enjoying it. Not as much as New Vegas, but about as much as 3. Plus once the geck is out there should be a few more things to do.

different people like different things
the main demographic on /v/ likes more rpg elements and world building while some people who enjoyed the game enjoyed the more exploration and fps aspects of it
