I genuinely believe the cane is the single worst weapon in Bloodborne.
Sawcleaver or Hunter Axe is a much better starting weapon.
Sawcleaver is really good, in general, especially early because it gets bonus to beasts.
Hunters Axe tricked R2 is literally enough to beat the entire game.
