Yes . your that dull game with a horrible stale main protagonist and really really shitty combat system. Oh and you also got outclassed by the ps4 exclusive bloodborne.
Um hey man, how's it going? Need some cash to get by or something?

I really want Blood and Wine already. If it's anywhere as near as good as Hearts of Stone then it's going to be GOAT.
Why did they have to set the release date to just after Dark Souls 3 though?

It's the "crowning jewel" of the series, and the last thing they can do on the Witcher series, so they're probably going to take their time until it's as good as they possibly can make it.

Just started this a couple of days ago. I'm having more trouble with the combat system than in any of the souls games and the loading screens last fucking forever. I'm just as big a Sonygger as anyone (PS4 and Vita all day), but Bloodborne isn't THAT special.

The story and lore was decent, the combat was slightly faster and aggressive Dark Souls, and the art design was pretty cool, but it wasnt GoTY material.

I think most of us would have rather been playing a good Dark Souls / Demons Souls game, but DaS2 was shit, so BB was just a really nice filler until DaS3.
>>
>>332388353
Truth be told I was expecting it, but still got a bit surprised when it dominated so hard. It was a pretty hard year and bethesda have always been favourites with no one daring to oppose the hivemind
>>332388393
I almost fell for the shilling and got a ps4 for it, but then I remembered I played both DeS and DaS1 completely offline for 1 playthrough and never went back. I have no doubt its good though, gonna try it when I pick up a ps4.5 since by then a couple of games I want will be out

CDPR really is a master at PR. They have been building up so much good cred for the past few years that not even an obvious downgrade affected them. Then with everything that it did right it's not surprising.

>free dlc
>constant patching of the game
>so much content
>one of the best expansion in years with more content than some games that are released all for 10 dollars

Kind of interesting to see how the Witcher series progressed

>started out as a short stories that were cult status in 1986
>became really popular in the mid 90's with the saga but only in Poland and eastern Europe
>got a shitty tv and film adaptation which kind of killed it for a while
>Years later the first Witcher game was released
>First Witcher game was cult status
>Second game sold better but nothing groundbreaking
>started to become more popular in the west
>Third game picks up an insane amount of hype and sells more than the first two games combined in 6 weeks
>showered with critical acclaim and goty awards
>now considered to be one of the greatest games of all time
>made the Last Wish a New York time bestseller and made the books sell a decent amount of copies in the west
>getting a new film based of of the books

It had an interesting Journey.

>spamming attacks mindlessly will often get you fucked especially against groups.

Yeah, noticed. And groups are pretty much the only thing you ever have to fight.

I get what the game is going for. You're fighting powerful, inhuman opponents stronger and faster than you, using your wits, tricks and tactics. But in practice, this generally just means spamming dodge and praying one of the enemies gets randomly separated from the pack so you can kill them off one by one, without being gangbanged the instant you lower your guard. Which isn't very interesting.
>>
>>332389052
Saskia and Iorveth are a no go. Something was found in the files that related to Regis but CDPR would really have to break the lore to bring him back though I suppose it's not the first time they have done so.

>>332389338
This, fucking this. They did some mistakes and shit with Gwint Cards, deleting dice poker and downgrade, but I can't blame them. Making games is still business and at least they play fair with players.

Also, they are one of few people that know difference between fucking DLC and true, old expansion.

Blood and Wine is gonna be like... good wintage.

Also, Cyberpunk. If they will success with this as they did with fucking Witcher 3 and if game will be even better, they will get everlasting fame, like Troika and Black Isle back in time.

Nah, it's a misconception that Bloodlines killed Troika it certainly helped because it bombed like a motherfucker, but they were still operational and pitching other projects to publishers, one of which was Arcanum 2. Problem was no one was willing to fund their projects so they used what money they had to give their employees proper severances and medical insurance and closed earlier. Even during that period Troika treated people right instead of just kicking them out on the street which seems to be the practice these days. Not to mention one employee made Bloodlines patch 1.2 after closure and on his own free time.

>>332392247
The White frost is not in inner dimensional space entropy and is just the planet tilting on it's axis in the books which creates an ice age. CDPR changed it a lot. Also it never got stopped and makes the Witcher world inhabitable 3000 years after the events of the final book.

>Open world itself and exploration was god tier, 10/10.

Not really because it doesn't feel like a world. I guess it's true if you want to just explore an area and find shit all the time, but Fallout 4, just like F3 and Oblivion as well as Skyrim, scream THEMEPARK where you can't walk five minutes in any direction without finding something. Witcher 3 is honestly on the opposite side of the spectrum in that how its world is structured is very believable and coherent, but all those question marks in the middle of nowhere exist so you would actually HAVE a reason to go there because game doesn't really utilize it's big areas well. Witcher 3 has so-called open world primarily for immersion and not really because it's designed for the same Bethesda audience.
>>
>>332395047
I wasn't a fan of the world in 4, it was dull to me, damn shame too. After the initial crushing disappointment of Skyrim I managed to find some fun in it and enjoy myself. Fallout 4 is lost on me, no fun to be had.

You are entirely right in a way. TW3 is made to be more believable, and Skyrim, Fallout 4 are themeparks, big sandboxes, just packed with shit. As much as I loved TW3, and I played it for 150h, the world was shit for me. Like, trully shit. Empty with a few copy pasted bandit camps here and there.

I liked the "themepark" aspect of Skyrim and F4, just walking around and finding hidden shit all the time. Bethesda has no idea how to make main quests, good animations, good combat, but nobody can make worlds as interesting as theirs imo.

I'm not too familiar with Witcher lore, but aren't they still weaker than say, werewolves, and other pure monstrosities they fight? The mutations and training just give them a fighting chance where ordinary humans would have none.

Witcher is far more powerful then normal human. Still, most of monsters can easly kill them if they aren't careful... and wizards can rekt their shit without much problems.

Still, Witchers are faster and stronger then ordinary human would ever be. Also, people fear them as fuck (in tabletop Witcher you get bonus points of fear and reputation drop if anyone see more then two witchers in group. Really, those guys alone can take many people with them before then die. Group of them? If you don't have wizard backup or small squad of people with crossbows, run)

I'm fairly sure he doesn't act on summons, he acts freely on his own pacts. He can be summoned via directly or indirectly like the poor professor did by looking too deeply into him, but I'm certain he mostly deals in pacts and then at the end of the pact he's free to enslave more souls.
>>
>>332399823
Yeah that and given that we don't know if Gods actually exist in the witcherverse and how the author talked about religion in the books and that the main character is an atheist lead me to believe that the author implied that there are no gods. The only thing I can recall that showed that Gods might exist is that Yen had that whole trance with the Goddess in the 6th book but that was in a trance so who knows what was happening. Him being a powerful demon and a monster makes more sense then a godlike figure. Now the power of Destiny is very real but godlike figures wouldn't make much sense given the lore and everything.
>>
>>332387245

The Berzerkers at the feast weren't men turned into bears, they were bears turned into men because of some ancient ritual involving human sacrifice towards a banished God.
>>
Still wasn't a fan of the ending, it felt rushed, which was a shame because so much of the game before that was exceptional, and then the ending kind of tried to shove everything including place to wrap it up in about 5 minutes with next to no explanation. Thought the new conjunction of the spheres leaves the possibility of sequals more open, with maybe a new Witcher school being founded and being a true RPG with character creation?

>Witcher III is the pinnacle of RPG excellence and is praised up and down despite focusing almost entirely on its story and presentation while the gameplay and world design are an afterthought
This is what is wrong with games today. Even Bloodborne was watered down for a wider audience. This game was exactly like Witcher II, boring gameplay and pointless dialogue choices that don't affect the story. This game exemplifies exactly what's wrong with games today, it's far too shallow and puts all its effort into its narrative.

it doesnt. most of the effort went to presentation. many part of the plot and worldbuilding is lackluster. it certainly get better and more colorful main and supporting characters than new vegas but outside that it falls flat.

To add more. It's mentioned that temples are built around the magical pockets of energy. Priest and priestess like to think they get their gifts from Gods but in reality they just draw upon the magic force that surrounds their temples. Yen mentions it and Nennke even though she believes in Melitle says something similar. Actually wish we would have gotten her in the games she was a cool character and it would have been interesting to see Geralt interact with his mother figure.

Yes, Yen, Ciri, & triss will comment on your scar made by gaunter, dunno about the rest as I beat the game then played the DLC.

>>332402380
Just do it after beating the game though. I played a bit of it beforehand, and the pacing between Hearts of Stone and the endgame felt... Awkward. But yeah, I recommend it. It's lengthy enough and the story is decent.

Yes, it's an obvious bullshot, they are lying again, there is no defending this.

I'm not talking about the LOD itself, the skybox in-game looks terrible, the one in the bullshot is way more vibrant and sharp.
Now I do understand that this is a different place, so a different look to the sky, but the same situation occurred with the Novigrad bullshot, whereas the skybox at the same time of day and weather looks afwul in-game. Another example is pic related, which is easy to encounter in-game and looks horrible.

I care more about the final product not representing what was shown beforehand.
I care about atmosphere which was, for me personally, the most important part of TW1.
I care because sight is a dominant human sense.
I care because, graphics, environment design, and story (including characters) are the only things the game has going for it (which is a lot and I do think the game is good, goty for me since I only own a PC and there was nothing else better than TW3 on this particular platform in my opinion).

You literally had Witcher 3_install.exe(21.4Gb) file on Pirate Bay(any fucking torrent hole) and you downloaded small patch on release day.

So, fact is that game was released next to freeware or donationware.

This is not good PR, this is madness but madness works when you polish your games for so long.

Brown swampy forests filled with one type of enemy: the game.

The cinematics/main story, as well as most of the quests were fine, but goddamn, I don't think there has ever been an RPG with worse environments (or rather, environment, since there is only one type of terrain in the entire game), OR less enemy types.

What i didn't understand, is why he really fulfilled Geralts wishes, if you chose not to get involved at the end.
If you wished to be swift at the wind, he gave you a saddle for your Horse (though i already have a saddle with better stats in my inventory).
Or Vodka-Bottle with unlimited supply of alcohol. And all other wishes.

I expected to be screwed over.
For example for "bottle that always full", he could give you the bottle that cannot be opened by anyone/anything & etc.
But the Gaunter O'Dimm played nice. :/

Completed the game and I literally enjoyed Arkham Knight more.

It was the more consistent game but it has TLOU levels of overblown hype, it plays the genre sickeningly safe. Not really the game you replay especially when the build variety is so limiting. I Guess the DLC will be good and i'm not really surprised as to why it's forgotten. There's not much to remember unless you love the fiction it's based on and any even moderate book reader with knowledge of the Witcher books will tell you how weak those mediocre books were outside of a handful of short stories.
