beat it as Destroyer-Trickster-Psycho. (Generic genki-some kinda milf-angry celestia ludenberg as voices).
dagger trick+crit react is godly. the destroyer provoke+counter skill saves you a lot of sp and lets her handle normal encounters easily. 1 of each element and the rest of the almighty damage spell for psy.

Samurai is your typical balanced fighter.
trickster can use daggers to inflict ailments or guns to use hiding and some multihitting moves, both builds will have lots of critting.
Destroyer is the bulky brawler that takes time to damage, as each attack they do can add a "destroy" level to the enemy, and as it gets higher it lets you use stronger attacks on the marked enemy.
Psychic is your mage/healer.
Hacker can take control of enemies and has buffs, I never really used one so I can't tell you much about them
The game is easy enough that any party will work really, and not have a healer isn't that big of a deal when the game throws so many healing items at you

They aren't spinoff it's all the same time line and in the final game you have to time travel between them. There's a lot of optional reading you can do to catch up on the other games though. I'd kind of recommend playing all of them cause the story is cooler that way. One character is essentially an immortal who appears in every game.
