Yuffie is cute and is what defined my taste in women.
It introduced modern jrpg with features never seen before. 10/10 though it has aged a bit.
Golden Saucer remains miles ahead as the best mini games in an RPG
I love it and I will always love it.
It hasn't aged with the best graces and it wasn't perfect to start with, but it was a revolution in both gaming at large and my life personally.
My adoration for Final Fantasy VII is vast and profound.
It takes too long for your characters to turn around if they get ambushed. And I've never been a huge fan of materia because every party member is basically the same except some of them have good limit breaks.
But I really like that the game is broken up by all sorts of minigames and junk. At the time it wasn't unusual but these days it's hard to find a game that does anything but text and combat.

Aside from being wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to easy to the point where you could spam Attack to win for pretty much the entire game, it's fantastic and definitely my favorite of the series. Tifa is best grill.

I played it for a bit and couldn't get the appeal. The battles weren't fun and the story wasn't hooking me, so I dropped it. Maybe if I had played it growing up when those cutscenes looked good I'd like it more, but that stuff doesn't age well.

This. I played FFVII around when it came out. My brother was all over it. I gave it a try due to my interest in FF and I was pretty underwhelmed overall. I liked Jessie, though. I never even shed a tear for Aeris and was just kind of like "that looked pretty corny animated". But the overall writing didn't blow me away, and since JRPGs tend to be fuckeasy, I give a lot more weight to the writing and the story than the gameplay.

I recommend the New Threat mod. Makes the game a little harder but not over the top grind central.

People forget the game was unfinished. Wutai was supposed to be a bigger deal and it became optional. Yuffie and Vincent were supposed to be naturally acquired characters through the narrative, but instead were made secret characters because of budget issues and time issues.
The game had famous translation problems.
Despite all that, still a historic RPG release that sold Playstations. Dislike it as you may, the game had a very real impact for being unfinished.

I tried out FF9, have yet to finish it. Haven't really been motivated to stay in it. Also finished 12 and 13. 12 was okay but its endgame is terrible. The last leg of the story is so lacking it left way too much to be desired. FFXIII left a hell of a lot more to be desired. Didn't touch 8 or 10 yet, but currently have no interest in either. I would rather just move on as gameplay in JRPGs don't really grab me much, and I generally stick to fighting games where I can care more about the gameplay.

A little. Its gameplay looks really fun, especially that stealth video demonstration I saw. Not a fan of the lack of color variety in the visuals, though. The original cinemas looked a lot more interesting as far as story stuff is concerned, but what they have now doesn't really thrill me much. I'd probably buy it just for the gameplay, and if the story and writing actually turn out okay, then that's a good bonus. I wouldn't keep my hopes up on the latter.

An okay but not particularly amazing game that ended up accidentally popularizing the worst JRPG cliches and planted the seeds of FF's destruction.
The story was only about half told (though I'm sure that was due to shitty translation).
It was chock full of unnecessary yet awesome minigames
The characters were great and felt extremely uniqueexcept for Vincent McColdsteel
It was a really memorable game and I wish I gave the 3d final fantasies a chance a hell of a long time ago.
