Did you guys enjoy Resident Evil: Revelations 2?

I didn't like it, but I'm curious to know what /v/ thinks
>>
>>332309271
Shit game, Rev 1 is where the money is
>>
Raid Mode is easily the best thing to ever happen to this franchise.

So damn addicting.

It was okay. I think they fucked up with Alex Wesker. The mystery behind the character had me hoping for a lot more.

Raid was tuned even more grindy. I stopped playing it after I got my man Albert to Lv.100
>>
>>332309271
It was alright.

Rev 1 was fucking amazing though, for a handheld resi, it was really well designed.
>>
>>332309271

Experienced strongest buyer's remorse at first.

Playing as Barry/Natalia for the first time made me love it and I didn't notice how I started to enjoy Claire/Moira campaign more.

By the end I was in love with the game.

I wish Moira wasn't such a swearing little cunt, though.

I really liked the setting and the atmosphere. it was the most resident evil resident evil since 4, in my opinion.
>>
>>332309271
I loved it. I thought it was better than Rev 1, but both are great games
>>
>>332309686
It was like the first real Resident Evil game with a proper inventory-system. There is something with combining shit and picking up key items that does so much for the series... Like a game within a game
>>
>>332309271
I got the free chapter 1 and love it. Haven't been able to buy the whole game yet. But raid mode is great. And scoring S ranks in the campaign feels really good too.
I like it quite a bit.

It sucks not having all the levels in raid mode though. I managed to unlocked everything I could possibly unlock with only chapter 1 raid mode.

Gina is hot as fuck.
>>
>>332309914
first new* real Resident Evil game*
>>
better than REV1, but overal not great, just okay

the companion system worked better than I expected, although it was utter shit during setpiece events where you constantly needed to switch characters while stuff around you both was exploding
>>
The shooting felt so bad that I stopped within minutes.
Granted I didnt like Rev 1 either because it felt like a half hearted compromise between classic RE and actiony RE without the strengths of either.
>>
>>332309271
I fucking despised how the game hid the good ending away from you.

Damn near ruined the entire experience when I found out that I had to kill the mutated guy with Moira in order to get the good ending.
>>
Since Capcom love to make Resi spin-offs. Can't they just make one that only has one character, like fucking please?

I want to go through spooky environments without an A.I. partner doing stupid shit, or not shutting the fuck up.

I only had problems with the last part of Moira/Claire campaign - but there was nothing wrong with the design there imo - I just had to git gud
>>
Everything was great but the corny story. If they took it seriously this, this game could've been goat.
>>
>>332309271
I thought the firs was way better except for the dodging. Dodging is shit in both games. I think the second part has way less weapon impact.

Would be cool - but I doubt we will get it. The AIs are often there so the MC has someone to talk to. We are not getting text-only thoughts because people are dumb
>>
>>332310643
RE5 & 6 took themselves seriously and were a fucking mess.
>>
>>332310643
I think they did take it seriously. I didn't find the story that corny. It was actually pretty good imo. The gave all the torture devices and stuff a reason to be there (which was that Alex is just a weird person that reads to much Kafka)

I was going to say that it was ok and a bit fun, but thinking about it it's really bad. The partner aspect of the game is completely unnecessary but if you took them out it would kill the story. I don't know why they feel like every single Resident Evil game has gotta star a pair of people now.
>>
Why was Rev 1 good yet Rev 2 was utter trash? First episode was mediocre and I quit when I had to return to all the areas in episode 2 with the boring girl mechanic. Tried it solo and with co-op and both were as boring as RE6.
>>
I finished 1 on 3ds with no Pro.
>>
>>332309271
how can anyone like this game? fucking zombies with fanny packs, pyramid head rip offs, terrible graphics with muddy textures. The whole game screams low budjet cash in and dont get me started with the micro transactions. I bought 3 guns online day-1 and crapcom didnt even program them into the game yet so I never got them.
>>
>>332311238
Rev2 was missing the tight metroidvania-esque level design that Rev1 had imo.
>>
>>332310829
Why does the MC have to talk to anyone though?

I'm still in denial really, I keep hoping that one day a Resi game will bring back some semblance of horror. Or hell some of the old game design (throwing you straight into the game, no tutorials, few cut-scenes, no forced walk and talk shit, 1 key that opens multiple doors, fucking exploration etc.)
>>
>>332311238
Capcom were basically trying to ape TLOU with Rev2.

The partner system in 2 is fun because only Natalia could see the invisible monsters, can't defend herself, use radar etc
Moiras flashlight is a little less neccessary, but I thought it redeemed itself during the Monster Neil battle.

Honestly, I love the partner-system in Rev 2. It's like they were trying to mix Resident Evil with the current trend in horror games were the protagonist can't defend themselves and they made 2 characters that can't - I think it worked out fine
>>
>>332309271
Combat is great, atmosphere is fine, characters are dogshit and the lack of puzzles(to find keys, to keep exploring previously locked rooms) makes it automatically terrible. Hands down, don't even argue this. A Resident Evil that isn't focused on solving puzzles to find other puzzle pieces to solve another puzzle to get a key that opens a locked door on the other side of the area is not a Resident Evil.

>REV1
>strong level design

I'm no doctor but I'm 99% sure you have acute brain damage and should go to your nearest ER asap
>>
>>332311603
Because people are dumb - they want cinematic experiences. Also, there are even great horror games that does this - Cybil is only in Silent Hill 1 so Harry has someone to talk to in the beginning and the players can find out more about Harry's motivation and desperation to find Cheryl that way.

I don't think you are in denial. Rev 2 had some chapters with key items and stuff and running back and forth (Rev 1 had some of this too I think) - I honestly think Capcom is starting to consider making it a bigger deal.

Heck, even RE6 has it with the Raskaplanje-sequences (find 3 keys so you can escape Kitchen District that is overrun with enemies that can't be shot to death)
>>
After how terrible the main series titled 6 was, I'm pretty much done with Resident Evil.

Will buy 4 & 5 when they're on the Xbox One, but as for anything new, I'll play it by ear with a stern no mindset leading my way.
>>
I never got to finish revelations because my disk got scratched to shit and always freezes at the same part. Pretty sure I was close to the end too.
>>
>>332309945
This. Got 270 medals but not going to bother leveling 5 characters up to lvl100
>>
>>332311706
The Barry part is definitely inspired by that - but the game comes of as a mixture of Resident Evil tropes from different Resident Evil games. I liked the end result
>>
Story mode was alright, Raid mode is the primary selling point.

Just wish it had tighter controls like RE6 did. RE6 was a damned good TPS, just not scary at all.
>>
>>332312132
Nah, not brain damage, I just have good taste.
>>
I recently leveled Moira to lv. 100 and found my first 3 star weapon (lv. 100 Dagger Fang). I dropped the game not long after that.

Is it worth it to go back and play Rev1's Raid Mode? How is it compared to this one? I'm not a big fan of playing through the same missions 3 times in Rev2

Playing on PC if that matters
>>
>bought the first Rev for 3DS
>100% that bitch
>years later
>download the free demo of episode 1
>it's shit
>can't get into it
>Claire looks like she's been on drugs for a few years
>have a stupid partner who's only ability is to aim the flashlight nowhere I want her too
>finally find some enemies in some basement
>some big guy comes at me
>assume he's like the axe guy from 5
>unload all ammo and shells at him
>partner gets beat to death by the small enemies while I'm fighting big guy
>say fuck it and quit
>>
>>332311510
Rev 2 had definitely more areas where you were going back and forth looking for key items - the prison, the slaughterhouse, the factory, the mansion etc
You even re-visit most those places with the other couple too so I would Rev 2 has it more

I'm guessing that is what you mean with metroidvania - because actual metroidvania design would be Acquire New Ability -> Can Travel to Unreachable Places Now
>>
>>332312606
I like both styles - but when it comes to Rev 2, the dodge-button is so fucking sweet. Especially when it is fully upgraded.

Got it for a heavy discount. All episodes like 5euros. It feels really lazy, it has a few good moments, but I didnt hate it. I wouldnt re-play it either. Kind of a weird game all in all, gotta wonder why it even exists.

There is no reason to hate it. It might not be as good as RE4 but it had a much lower budget. I find that charming even - like all the old horror games weren't that long either and probably didn't have enormous budgets. Like it is pisseasy to finish Silent Hill 3 in 3 and half hour if you know where all the items go etc
The old RE-games are the same - you stumble around a lot of hours the first time, next run you just speed through everything
>>
>>332313397
I've actually owned RE6 for the past year and a half but I haven't even started it yet.

I played the opening couple of minutes of Leon's campagn and I was just immediately turned off.
>>
>>332313983
You have such low self-esteem that you view yourself as a beast. You want to see women demeaned by animals because you know that they would never be with you.

But your pschological history isn't on-topic, so please keep it to yourself next time.
>>
I really liked Natalia. I hope she becomes a somewhat regular character.

And doesn't grow up too fast. She's definitely the best looking loli available in SFM and there isn't anywhere near enough porn of her. People who are still wasting their time making shit with the Walking Dead and Bioshock lolis pisses me off.
>>
Does RE4 HD for PC has mouse control?
>>
>>332313808
I personally hated it because it was constantly cutting into the gameplay with its QTE's, mini-cutscenes, setpieces, and the level design was linear and boring

when people complain about games being cinematic, RE6 is what I think about
>>
>>332312302
I'm fine with having characters in the game for MC to talk to, I just don't like how they're constantly there/available. As you said Cybil is there so Harry has someone to play off, but 90% of the game she's not there.

Can't remember Rev 1 but most of my gripes come from how linear the games have become. As now it's get this/these item(s) to unlock one door to progress, getting these items most of the time is a very linear ordeal e.g. you'll get item 1 first item 2 second etc. Then it'll conveniently lead back to the door you need to open.

It annoys me because Re1/Remake handled it the best with; here's the sword key it opens 4 locked doors, you choose which one you want to go through first. Then you may find the armour key while still having locked sword key doors which leads to you planning your route, and better exploration.

Because you've fapped to a lot of comparably vanilla shit and your dick is bored of it. Your dick demands more depraved and taboo stuff.

Get yourself on Rule34Hentai and whack off to vidya women being mounted.

This. Just make a raid mode game with every resident evil character. Like the Wii u remix games but with resident evil.

First game in years that felt like a real Resident evil game. First chapter was really shit, but other three were 10/10. Should have been in the main series and RE6 should be spin-off. Just my opinion tho
>>
should i get it on steam or pay full PS3 price to coop with my brother
>>
>>332309271
It was PURE TRASH.

-Moira/Claire is the worst resi co-op campaign ever
-Stiff and Recycled animations and assets from Re5, Re6 and Lost Planet 2.
-Poor writing
-Fake episodic rollout for maximum jewness.
-Low quality graphics and art direction.
-Unplayable Vita version.
-half assed upgrade/inventory system.
-No horror, forced walking areas
-Invisble enimies in Claires campiagn.
-Horrible hit detection
-Litteraly unplayable at times if not couch co-oping

All of this in a 2015 Resident Evil.
I liked the last chapter on Barry's story and Natalia was cute. The rest of the game is mediocre 6/10. It was an improvement over 6 in a lot of ways, but a step backwards in even more.

If you advocate this game your a capcocksucker.

>>332312328
Don't buy those shitty ports if you want to fix Resident Evil. Especially on Xbone where capcom should have gave you backwards compatibility for free, instead of buying $20-60 in old games.
