You might like Red Orchestra 2, it's got all the horrible things you'd expect, but with the mechanics of the guns you can do very well once you've learned how to use them at range.
You'll die a lot to shit you don't even see, but being sneaky about how you attack and where you go is incredibly rewarding. Plus the game doesn't have a huge playerbase, so there's a few servers with lots of chatter going on.
It might just be me though, the original Operation Flashpoint was one of my first PC games and I played the shit out of it, as a result I now can't hit for shit with hitscan weapons because I'm always accounting for drop and travel time.

I used to be like this as a kid, then I went on a vidya hiatus for 2 years.
Afterwards I sucked balls at everything that had to do with precise inputs.
My mind is still as fast, I know what to do and can react to it mentally but my fingers are just too slow or flub the input.
At times I even push a completely different button.
However, after all this vidya I am above average in basically everything except for RTS but I am good at the strategic part of a game.
JRPGs became my favourite genre. Funnily enough I also try every fighter even though I drop most of the mafter the 40-hour markexcept for Melee
I miss being in the zone when playing games. My little brother still has it and beats me at everything with fast inputs while I beat him at strategy. It's obvious we wreck everything is team based MP games

I've been playing War Thunder the past few weeks and I'm still shit at it, can't dogfight to save my life.
I think the biggest problem is that I have little to no ability to plan ahead or anticipate moves. I can see an enemy plane heading towards me, but I can't see any path I can take that will lead me to get behind him and shoot him down. I also can't predict in any detail what he's going to do except the vague but accurate 'shoot me down'.
I can bomb things and strafe ground targets and that's it.
It's also why I'm utterly shit at strategy games, of all kinds, I can't plan ahead. I think I'm incapable of learning.

I notice it a lot in games like world of tanks. I've seen guys with thousands of battles be absolute garbage because they've never even bothered to "get gud". Then I've seen guys with thousands of battles, and they have all of the skills you can possibly learn, every little trick, and react to obvious things correctly, but they're missing the innate talent that really makes them good. It all comes down to intuition and everything that stems from it like field sense or quick thinking, you either have it or you don't, it's not really teachable.

Shitters can still be great assets as long as they stop trying to pretend like they can take everyone on and just fucking support their team mates.
A good player can fill any role and rush in and wreck shit, but he can't do it single handedly. I have tons of shit friends I play with, I have them do shit that is useful, but otherwise doesn't require too much skill. Healing, driving, distraction, and just general support like recon, smoke grenades, flash bangs, whatever. A team of shitters working together is much better than a team of full lonewolves who are pretty good, I've seen it over and over.
Just find some one who is good and stick to them, even something like you getting shot in the ass long enough for him to turn around and kill the guy to save himself can make all difference.
I played WOW arena from day 1. Still play. Never had more rating than 1800. And that was only once, i have 1500~ now.

The skill/talent contrast is a fun one. I refuse to learn CSGO because I don't like it very much, but my friends always invite me to play. They're making all these crazy strats that I don't give a shit about, screaming calls and shit I have no idea what they are, I feel like a shitter because I have no idea what everyone is going on about half the time, yet I still hold my own because my reactions and intuition are top tier. Meanwhile, the guys making the calls and the strats get gunned down by people they know are right around the corner, just as often as I gun down the guy right around the corner that I had no idea was there before.
