Greatest Black Isle game.
Even though it shifted focus from post-postapocalyptic mad max feel, to wacky wasteland adventures that will become synonymous with the series.

Fallout 2 is the best Fallout game while NV is my favorite. Also if you don't have patience, you won't like em yo. Took me a bit to gather it but when I did, i had a blast
In need of an editor.
Its a game I try to love. A lot of great things. But the baffling design, pacing and difficulty curve make it too rough occasionally. Suffers from quantity over quality, and from the relatively forced sequence of towns that isnt backed by story or gameplay logically. The starting bit (until Vault City) is okay, the middle section (until Vault 13 Enclave scene) is simply put amazing if not for the bizarre backtracking between Reno, NCR and Vault city. The final stretch is tired with its three military bases that are essentially combat based or devoid of content (Navarro). All in all, very shaky game that is better than it should be.
I'm still making my way through Fallout 1, not really liking it. I don't feel safe and I don't know what I'm doing. How do if I'm being ripped off on prices of ammo, guns, or armor? How do I know if I can keep retrying to pick a lock, or if I should reload each time it fails? How even does Sneaking work?
The controls could be better, more context clues than always having to switch between combat mode/regular mode, switching between left/right clicks and not having to scroll through a 4 option menu for grab/view/use skill whatever.
I'll play 2 eventually but I'm not looking forward to the memes. I don't like Dr. Who or Monty Python

I'd argue that fallout 2 is more post-post-apocalyptic than 1.
2 focus's a lot on the politics of the world and the civilizations that arose.
1 doesn't really do that, it's got hints of it and it's certainly no longer post-apocalyptic but it's not a true post-post-apocalyptic game like 2 is.

You are, but you know, there's nothing else to use the money for. Later stages of game have infinite money, and you can pretty much get best small guns by The Hub.

Locks are locked only by critical failure. You can savescum, with conversation before every obvious skill check/conversation, or you can just lose part of possible stuff.

Don't bother. FO1 in general doesn't have a lot of combat intense areas, except at the very endgame. Also, you don't get experience for avoiding combat which is an issue since the game pretty much assumes that you're level 15 or so before final areas, and 100% completion gets you to 18 or so.

Different Anon here, but i always tagged unarmed when i played so i could sail past the ants in the trial and later on in new reno do the boxing stuff. Though i always dropped unarmed by end game because it is worthless once people start shooting at you.
