I have to say that you should only play this game if you like romance in other forms of media like romcoms. I played through the whole game and I found the plot to be stupid and forcibly dramatic.

I enjoyed most of it. I thought the battle was great, though Asriel's second form looked retarded, and him screaming out my name made me cringe pretty hard. Especially since I'd followed Toby's advice and named the fallen human after myself. It took me out of it because I kept wondering if I was supposed to pretend that I had some kind of history with this goat kid personally.
I played it again later with the name Chara, which made the whole sequence feel much more appropriate.
