I get what theyre are used for and why, but they were really only relevant in dark souls 1, ninja flippping havels would be rampant if there was no meta, but in dark souls 2 and 3 with poise acting as hyper armor and defense not making too much of a difference the only thing a restricted soul level does is prevent people from having practically unlimited stamina. Well the argument for a lower soul level was never about variety.
It was an argument for what was rationally easy to get, while providing a build that does everything it has to.
Having a high SL doesn't imbalance the game because a skillful 120 is always going to be a medicore lvl 857 (or whatever it is). The thing is, getting to like SL 857 takes forever with grinding. SL120 is usually around the time you finish the game and go into NG+ while also being easy to get to.
That's why SL 100 is pretty popular. Because most builds still function perfectly at 100 while also being an easy SL to get to.

The thing about using anything is that it usually doesn't matter to most people. In a fight you'll pop a pyromancy or maybe some hexes, but rarely does a fight call for you to use every weapon in the game or all the miracles, spells, or pyromancies.
Also SL never mattered in DS2 because SM meant you would inevitably fight those SL 857 or whatever.

It's a justification of how multiplayer works and allows From to take shortcuts like "How did Solaire get there". It's so they didn't have to do the Biorr thing again.
Also it's not the same as boss fights being there to justify the game. The bosses are linked to the lore and story. The time convolution is just sorta there.
Storywise it really doesn't fucking matter. Time and place are said to be convoluted but the story of DS is very linear and the world itself is mostly connected like any fantasy world is. Time flows linearly in DS1. Gywn found the flame. Gywn sacrifices himself to the flame to keep it lit. DS1 happens.
You even go back in time with Artorias of the Abyss.
Multi-universe exist, but they theoretically exist for everything even if they never factor into a plot.

Kalameet is basically just backtracking through Artorias' area and you basically have to die to trigger the fight.
Boss fights are the best in the game, but the areas and what you get pretty much fucking suck unless you're a sorcerer, and even then, Darkbead trivializes the game so hard.

The firelink - undeadburg and undead parish is literally one of the best, well thought out areas ever made in a video game.
It just sucks because everything else pales by comparison. The way the shortcuts unlock and the vertical element making theres only really be 3 bonfires that interconnect to so many areas is amazing.
So the CU in DS3 can be either Ludleth or Aldrich.
I'm more inclined to believe it's Aldrich as he is a being that devours others and absorbing and powering himself with souls was CU's main source of strength. Of course Ludleth would be cooler as while he may look like a corpse but he is the only lord that wasn't some abnormal being just a baddass human.
So does anyone know what the durability is like in this game? Is it fucked up like in Dark Souls 2? Will hitting a wall a few times break my weapon?

Jeez, that kinda sounds boring. I mean, I'm all for Fashion Souls and everything, but part of the fun was trying to get good defense and poise on top of light rolling and looking good. Like I get it, the game was focused entirely on dodging and avoiding enemies rather than tanking it, but still... I guess the most I can hope for is that the armors look good and give plenty to work with for Fashion Souls or cosplaying (which they probably will), and that they aren't completely worthless in defense or poise.
Is there any untrustworthy NPCs? Someone like Yurt, who will murder other NPCs? I mean real consequences, not just Patches with his shenanigans

Well you got defense by leveling up. So regardless of build you weren't squishy no matter the armor. But BB didn't care about armor. The theme and lore had it being useless against beasts because they'd claw right through it. BB also has guns on the level of late 1800s and even later so armor didn't matter against men either.
Souls 3 doesn't have upgrading but armor choice is more useful defense wise.
But truly it never fucking matter. A full havel ninja-flipper was a faggot because of poise and dodge i-frames, the defense was just a cherry on the top.
A greatshield will always protect you more than a suit of armor (even fully upgraded) ever did.

In default endings you're just an ashen one which also leads to you unable to really properly link the fire. (That and the amount of souls/power you have being comparatively little so the fire isn't satisfied). The bride is just a ritualistic thing that is done by the followers of this hollow cult. It's also probably lead by Kaathe, as Yuria mentions failing him if you kill her. You never meet any serpents but there are some statues of them. ((probably reserved for DLC))

The spells are called "hunter tools" and they all have wide varieties, most of them are arcane damage attacks though. The only thing that makes them harder to focus on is the fact they use your bullets, of which you can only hold 20 (24 if you have the right rune equipped, but you can sacrifice HP to restore 5 bullets every so often) so you're always running out of bullets.
There are a lot less weapons than Dark Souls 2, but every weapon has a unique move-set and they all have two forms, including the attacks you can do mid-transformation both ways (burial blade one hand scimitar attack -> press L1 before the attack finishes -> the burial blade transforms mid-attack) so the combat was way more enjoyable than the Souls series since it's so fast paced.
