I bought it day one, bought the gigantic special edition strategy guide to go with it (has a fran pinup inside). It's still pristine and even has that new game smell.
After the first few battles I just could not stand it....the combat was so incredibly shitty it made me feel physically ill. I can't think of any other game that's made me feel this way.

Until Arkham, Batman was doing almost as bad as Clark Kent with gaming. Batman Returns SNES was a great Final Fight clone but nothing else ever passed mustard. Never personally played this one but I remember the PS2 era Batman games (Vengeance, Begins) being shitty.

After seeing /v/ dickride it so hard, I decided to play it and my god was it fucking horrible. a shit combat system hidden behind a facade of complexity. those shitty fucking mashing sequences were the worst, too. I'm a fan of these types of games. I love the DmC series and Bayonetta

Broke my heart after I fell I love with DAO and its classic CRPG style gameplay.
Combat was utter shit, the total opposite of Origins. Characters were ass and Anders was turned into a total fag. Environments were halfassed, companion gear was trashed, hard fights were just extra waves of enemies and the story was garbage.

Honestly, when I first got this game (also collectors but no Fran poster. wtf? I want my waifu poster) I hated it so much. It was the first of the FF series that I didn't finish with a month of getting it. I put it down after puttering around with it for a few weeks and then came back to it nearly a year later and then went and sunk over 250 hours into it. I just suddenly loved it. I loved the battle system (that is incredibly flawed, but I liked being able to set my characters up) I loved the music (forgetable but really well composed), the world (I thought it was neat how they dealt with a large scale world on the PS2), the licence board (which is still a bit stupid that I need a licence to wear a hat), just suddenly everything about it was great.
Except the plot. It's like they went about 90% of the game and said "oh shit, what about that stuff we did at the opening of the game??" and then rushed to shoehorn it in at the end to offer some sort of closure.
Really, the game needed to follow Vaan's brother or Basch's brother or something. It would've been so much more interesting (but keep Fran and Balthier)

The controls are nice and tight and responsive, and the graphics are very nice to look at personally. To be fair it might get better later on but I didn't get past the first boss out of pure boredom. I personally hate games that just throw you a bunch of fodder that dies in 1-2 hits and then brick wall you with a boss that requires 1000, and the forced back tracking didn't help either.

So I went and bought this game (full price) the cable to connect it to the GBA (Which to this day I've never used) and played trough this steming pice of shit all the way to the end, Jirachi shows up for the final cut scene, the credits roll...
And thats it, no option to transfer it to the main games. Only then I found out the option only existed in the PAL version of the game so it was all for nothing.
