I'm maining Gengar, what else do I need to git gud at this game?

I'm in the same boat as you OP. I did the tutorials, but the gameplay felt slower than I would have liked. My character doesn't feel very responsive. To tell gengar to jump and do an aerial attack takes ages.

I play him, just learn your cancels and make people respect your hypnosis. If you can get them to start mashing in fear of getting grabbed, you can hit them again or use your counter. Also manage your synergy meter, gengars burst is good as fuck.
