How do you expand early? I always find myself preoccupied building other things and by the time i get to a Settler the AIs have 3 cities up already.

Build settlers. Use the liberty tree. Scout for ruins, get lucky with culture ruins, get more settlers faster.

Also, settle ontop of luxuries so you get an instant happiness bonus instead of waiting for a worker to improve it.
Play on the easiest mode and get settlers from ruins you fucking pleb.

Build settlers when your capital reaches 4 size. Spit out 2 MAYBE 3 if lots of resources city and you're ready to go.
