She has a lot of annoying projectiles that make inexperienced players panic. Fire Blast covers a lot of area and you can't really jump over it so it's great when the opponent is cornered, and Fire Spin lasts a while on the screen so it's pretty easy to get overwhelmed by her attacks. To make up for all this she doesn't do a lot of damage though but I think most people just don't know how to react to all that.

To that Machamp I just played, you gotta not fear directly challenging other players. I pretty much never feared you grabbing me except out of setups and you never really tried to poke with some of your longer reaching stuff.
You did make me unable to get like any stunners off basically, I just kept getting webs, which actually helped me more than anything since it meant I could harass you better on field mode. I would also suggest switching your assists, Ninetails did dick for you. Try starting with cubone/diglett to try to get some conversions, and when you feel more confident, switch to ones that build meter. Burst is a scary as fuck thing and a tool you didn't really get to utilize very much.

The gameplay is very fluid and fast, but not as deep as lets say Tekken or MvC. The variety of moves are as big as those games, but still pretty sizeable.
The game doens't play like Tekken, but neither as a Naruto game as some may say. It... really feels like its own.
Input delay, yes there is because there are no wired controllers, so the Gamepad is going to have input edlay. It's not that big, but is there.
The pricetag is fucking huge, I exchanged some games to get it cheaper, but the full price is not really worth it becausethe roster is too small for me
Charizard is good. A lot of super-armor moves and an intuitive stance (flying stance). He's easy to pick up too.

It works like Smash where if you were watching a video it looks fine (most of the time) but the delay can be literal seconds. Players who autopilot setplay do the best because it can't really be punished, but it can be mashed out. Over and fucking over. Even moreso if you time things visually and don't rely on massive buffer. The only time you see stuttering is if the connection is unstable and the game is trying to give you the least amount of input delay as possible.

It's also really hard not to drop random games to bad people sometimes because to beat them requires you to play really base and just counterspam and guard a lot. I like running a mixup train so I will go "surely they won't mash now beca- FUCK ME why are they still mashing?" as I eat an entire combo. You've had way more than that but just never noticed. If you want to see how much delay you have, just wait for the match to start and without buffering it at the start (so wait for the match to actually begin before pressing anything), tap your shield button. Most matches online are going to have more than a few frames of delay, even if they otherwise look smooth. If it gets bad enough, though, you'll start getting input errors because it's reading the timing of your dpad incongruent to your buttons. Complete retardation.

Pokken is a game that is difficult to get blown out repeatedly at unless it's laggy and the person runs away and spams projectiles the entire time... and being new, you have no clue what to do. If they get in your face and you know the controls, it's very likely you'll at least do a bit of damage here or there. Most people are absolute shit at this game and unlike games like SF where those shitty players will still body you by mashing out combos, even the newest player can mash out these combos without any learning.

Here's the thing: At the end of the day, somebody is going to blow a gasket because they lost to you regardless of what character you go. Now if you pick a character (currently the flavor is Braxien, it used to be Libre. I'm expecting a switch to Suicune soon and then possibly gengar maybe) that just spams projectiles in lag and runs away in a friendly match with no attempt to learn shit, of course people are going to look down upon you.
If you're in ranked/bracket, who gives a shit? You're in it to win it. Pick who you want but don't just immediately go for what's the easiest. Learn your character in all phases and try not to rely on your character's super strengths without learning all of your options.

I didn't watch >>332150859 before posting, and that pretty much covered most of my ideas. I tend to use Bullet Seed a lot more than Vine Whip though, since it does more damage and makes a good launch setup for a high stance attack. I guess my favorite is:

the problem with this is that it's not a combo; the only way to chain a wallbounce off an air y is by using the backhand immediately after. the hardest part of this whole setup is doing the right combination of bsprep, jump height, and directional airY, and even then the wallbounce isn't guaranteed on half the cast; you're better off going for upangled airY into poison breath to lower defense and just resetting from there

It's an actual fighter, just not as complex due to lack of traditional inputs. It's pretty legit tho.
Does anybody have any Gardevoir tips against Weavile? When he jumps over me I cant do shit, none of my Anti airs reach him.
