And, what's the best weapon in 4.been using spears so far. Middle of the first spring.

Axes are trash. Spears are awkward. The best type of weapon is the best weapon you can currently forge. Managed to forge an aqua greatsword early on, now I'm breaking the fucking game on hard mode on my first playthrough.

Spear/Axes are pretty lousy, hammers not great either but has a decent charge AoE. Spear's shitty hit box can be offset some by using skills. Overall id say fists/Greatsword/Dual blades are the way to go in terms of melee weaponry. Greatsword is my personal favorite along with fists when i just want to do fast attacks
