/v/, tell me a good RTS to play
>>332095529
zero hour
>>332095529
Age of Empires 2
Starcraft 2 wings of fucking liberty
>sc2 lotv comes out
>can't get into it at all
I played the hell out of HotS too, I don't get it. The game feels to rushed now.
>>332095529
Trackmania nations
age of mythology
Total annihilation
>>332095529
Knights of Honor
>>332095529
C&C Zero hour
warcraft 3 custom games. love that shit. I want to play pimp my peon now.
STRONGHOLD
>be a RTS demi-god
>tens of thousands of hours sunk into War/Starcraft, C&C and AoE
>mfw playing DoW for the first time yesterday
I already knew I hated 40k with a passion, but oh man did this really trigger me.
BFME 1 and 2 + Addon or Edain Mod if you like LOTR
>>332095529
sonic boom
>>332095529
Company of Heroes is great.
>2016
>RTS
>>332097758
But we're getting a slight resurgence.
Attila is pretty good
people who say otherwise are just salty over the rome 2 launch. Sayingthat, the new totalwar game looks alright. i know that its the other side of the timeline but that dawn of war game is pretty weak
Empire Earth 2
>>332098069
EE1 was GOAT, they fucking ruined that series with each shitty sequel
>>332096057
>>332096628
RotR 2.0 fucking when?
>>332097948
Total War games are not RTS
>>332097948
I'd play it, but it runs like absolute shit on my rig.
>>332098205
I will agree that 3 was awful, but what about 2 did you not like?
>>332098265Never
>>332096262
GOTY tier campaign. I mean the story jumped the shark but those missions had huge variety and kept things consistently interesting. Its a shame HotS shat the bed so much in that regard though, at least LotV brought it back a bit despite putting the final nail in the coffin story wise
>>332098656
So it was a good idea to make missions "timed" to avoid the usual turtle-and-steamroll?
>>332099925
not all missions are timed. Some only have aspects that are timed as well like rescuing survivors in Gates of Hell. Like I said there was a pretty damn good mix. You had timed missions like Safe Haven, missions you could take your time in like Media Blitz, one man/small army missions like Break Out and Belly of the Beast, and four full missions featuring Protos that wasnt a complete afterthought. It also had way more options and you where locked into your army upgrades, no wishy washy switching around all the time. Also it had campaign unique units and a secret mission which the expansions lacked
>>332098489
2 and 3 were huuuuge disappointments. EE1 is a true rts to the core, nothing beats playing lan with three friends and 4 computers
>>332101098
Yeah, but what specific changes?
act of aggression
>>332102490
That's going to be a guy, isn't it?
>>332101098
>compstomp
Noob
>>332102736
>guy
>no balls
>female hips
>female anatomy (thinner wrists, larger hips and waist, no penis, etc.)
Holy fucking shit anon, look at more porn or something.
Are there any RTS that do singleplayer right? I want to have a chill time with huge teams of human + computers but programing ai is hard so devs just make the computer gang up on the human and make it cheat like mad.
C&C 3 Tiberium Wars + Kane's Wrath
>>332103528
>single player RTS
Dafuq, people actually like this?
>>332095529
Metal Fatigue.
If yer a /m/an and dig giant robots (including building them from parts), then this game is for you.
>>332104292
Fuck yes, I don't give a shit about RTS multiplayer.
>>332098382
t. Gookclick barbossa
>>332098382
Not that anon, but they are both Turn and Real Time Strategies.
>>332104292
Multiplayer is not the only thing an RTS has.
A good RTS does both single and multi well enough to have the people feel satiated.
>>332095529
>cataphracts
ma nigga
>>332103528
>Are there any RTS that do singleplayer right?
If you enjoy a timed campaign and RTS with city-building/management elements you could play Outpost 2: Divided Destiny.
Be aware that as a timed campaign if you dick about too much in missions you'll end up fucking yourself over in later ones if you play on the highest difficulty setting.
just play age of empires 2
believe it or not it actually has an active competitive scene
here's an exhibition match for an upcoming tournament

THIS
what game has the best resource gathering experience?
>>332105405
why
>>332105594
in terms of actual mechanics or of how it relates to the game world lore?
tiberium was genius just because it fit extremely well in world and mechanically worked as a resource
I really enjoyed Generals supply dump for the same reasons
Rise of Nations is pretty great. It reminds me a lot of Civ if it were an RTS.
>>332102935
some guys can have female features as well
Red alert 2
>>332096262
off yourself
>>332105828
it's boring
>>332105828
simply economy
SupCom Forged Alliance is the pinnavle of the RTS genre.
I would say emperor battle for dune but every time i try to fucking play it the mouse is floaty as shit. Does anyone know how to fix something like that?
>>332105321

Kill yourself
>>332105270

>>332096351
this, the only good rts

THE best single player RTS campaign in the history of gaming
good build and unit and building diversity
what game of the man of war series is good?
>>332106471
xd epic bro
I'm playing tale of the dragon these days
On the one hand, chinese are broken and some aesthetics are really, really lazily done.
On the other , I had forgotten how comfy AoM is. And chinese is fun to play, despite two stupidly overpowered myth units.
>>332106471
Fuck off faggot.
Settlers 2 Gold is a goddamn classic.
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade is amazing too.
company of heroes. Too bad the sequel shat the bed and the first game is on life support. Still the game is fucking awesome, it rewards reading the game and planning, not just APM.
>>332098489
EE 2 was essentially an unoptimized Rise of Nations.
>>332105585
fuuuuuUUUUCK YOUUUUUU
>>332104702
>Replying to an official screenshot.
>>332107983
EE 2 was pretty different from RoN (different territory system, much larger tech tree, rock-paper-scissors combat, etc.)
>>332106471
nigger
any one else playing tale of the dragon here?
>love age of empires
>can't git gud
>>332108685
watch pro players. Then play games against the easiest AI to see if you can execute the early game quickly and flawlessly.
Then you are already halfway
>>332109107
>watch pro players.
AoE has a competitive scene?
>>332108685
Learning economy building in AoE2 is pretty simple, just look at high-level play and examine their build orders
The rest you can learn by yourself pretty easily. Believe in yourself. And playCelts
>>332108685
That's how I feel about Dawn of War
>>332108116
I'll never understand how such a small number of soldiers in a castle can be so threatening. Its insane how hard that level is.
Dawn of War series
CoH one
SupCom
Galactic Battlegrounds
Any Starcraft or Warcraft (except one) you haven't played yet
Homeworld 1 or 2
>Neat, if not perfect
Brutal Legend
Overlord series
Divinity: Dragon Commander
>>332109107
>>332109364
Thanks anons, I will try
>>332109481
Also Command and Conquer.
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War is pretty good. you can get it for one dollar off of G2A, I believe.
Dawn of War II is okay but not as good as the first one.
>>332095529
World in Conflict.
I'm playing a necromancer in age of wonders 3 and it's awesome
been a while since I had fun playing an rts
>>332095529
Machines: wired for war
>3d RTS with regular controls
>the only RTS i know that lets you play the units in 1st person
try it anon.
http://wiredforwar.org/topic/14/machines-the-game/2
its graphics didnt aged that weel, but its a good game to play.
>>332098265
RotR is shit anyway, play Contra.
AoE 2 is a solid choice if you want to go multiplayer just because it still has a few thousand people playing at a time between HD edition and Voobly. (Voobly has higher skilled players but doesn't enforce CD-keys)
RoN (extended ed.) is really great for single-player. It's much more interesting mechanically than the Age formula if you have played the series extensively before. I think multiplayer is dead at this point, though.
>>332095529
Cossacks series
Stronghold
Warcraft series
C&C
Supreme Commander
>>332102490
I would recommend Act of War over AoG
>>332111212
>There'll never be a Machines 2
>You'll never send a pod to see what happened to the humans that send you with a terraforming mission centuries ago
Supreme Commander Forged Alliance via Forged Alliance Forever. Any other suggestion is wrong.
Great picks in this thread. Some lesser-known ones: AI War is a great co-op RTS to play with friends. I also like Distant Worlds, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Men of War: Assault Squad.
>>332109481
>Brutal Legend is an RTS
It hurts that this is true, it would have been better as a hack n' slash
Which RTS game has the best base building? Like you feel like you really are building a cool comfy base.
>>332115061
if you would go about being as efficient as you can, id say supcom
best != comfy though
>>332096771
Let me guess, You played the IG and tried to buttfuck the necrons first huh?
There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt. An open mind it's like a fortress, with it's gates unbarred and unguarded.
