This game is okay but it's only 2 hours long at most.
If anything it just gets pushed around as best VB game because it's the one you can play on an emulator without having some fucked up control scheme. When on the actual system there are other titles that shine much brighter IMO. Mario Clash, Red Alarm, and Teleroboxer I'd all advocate above VBWL, but without actually having the real controller it's easy to see why you'd want to choose VBWL as best game.

SMD's story is by no means bad. It just has this problem where none of the characters from the village do anything in the second half in the game, and that giratina mission had zero bearing on the story at all.
RT's was a bit less developed than SMD but it had some better pacing. Sky's story is really good with the best atmosphere of all of them, but it suffers from a few forced plot devices and there are some points that don't make any sense. GTI is the best but it is way too short.
They all have their issues, but I'd definitely give the other games a go. Enjoy them, anon.

I used to like the Mystery Dungeon games a lot back when I was a kid.

It has better gameplay mechanics than the rest of the series. You could push allies and enemies instead of always going through them. There was more emphasis on item usage, and your standard attack is completely useless, forcing you to pay more attention to your PP. Hunger goes down faster, so you have to pay more attention to your hunger. It has every existing Pokemon. Meanwhile, Gates doesn't even have a hunger bar and has an incredibly small number of Pokemon.
And the Connection Orb wasn't perfect, but its better than Pokemon just randomly joining you. I hated going through dungeons just to get to a legendary that wouldn't join me.
Not to mention Super's soundtrack is WAY above every other game's soundtrack.

Getting Chansey normally isn't going to happen, simply put. The only reliable way? Run into Wish Cave and beat Jirachi, but don't recruit it, and have the Wish Stone. Wish for something good, and if you have max rank you'll get a random recruit you don't have. You better fucking have every Unown, or you'll get one of those.
I did this about 15+ times for the really hard pokemon, to the point where i developed a 100% success rate strategy for the runs

This is the optimal team for this all. Kecleon is the strongest fighter in level 1 dungeons, Charizard is the only mon with a room hitting attack at level 1, and Wooper is to actually get to Wish Cave because of Surf, as well as sniping with Sticks and preventing explosions with Damp.

It depends on what you like/dislike about the other Mystery Dungeon games.
Super differs from other Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games in that:
>there's an emphasis on item usage, as you'll be pit up against enemies significantly higher level than you that you couldn't beat just from using your moves
>Pokemon are no longer recruited at random, and instead ever mission you do you get the Pokemon who put up that mission to join your team
>your standard attack does almost nothing in damage, forcing you to use moves and thus making you pay more attention to your PP
>Hunger goes down faster, forcing you to eat more
>the tutorial is much longer instead of throwing you right into the game, making the game take a lot more time to get going

I'm torn between this and TWEWY. TWEWY is a lot more well rounded and doesn't really have any weaknesses, being strong in every regard, but I feel that this at least has stronger story and characters than any other DS game, but with significantly weaker gameplay. TWEWY's music also trumps pretty much any other DS game. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for.
