Those Naruto games on BYOND, that site that also hosts Space Station 13.
Most of those games have you start off as a complete rookie, have to learn each spell and its signs (spells are casted by a combination of signs, some being pretty long), have to first get proficient in quickly making signs, the more proficient you become in signs the faster you can cast spells, then you also have to increase the proficiency of the spell which usually augments its abilities like doing more damage, having more range.

I like this type of concept for RPGs
Start off as a mage who is totally useless
Learn some basic fire ball shit that wouldn't even drop a goblin
But if you keep working it, eventually it becomes this gigantic fire ball that explodes into a blaze.
