This game has been completely forgotten.

You could say it's because it's shit but that didn't stop the second one from being popular.

I believe it's because of Denuvo. Since it didn't get cracked, it didn't get the word of mouth of millions of pirates and that's what killed it.
>>
its a generic single player shooter series.
what did you expect? that people keep replaying it and talking about it forever? that only happens to very very few games.
>>
The second one is popular because they gave it away for five dollars in every steam sale until everybody had it.
>>
The second one is popular because it really did feature innovative gameplay features and great graphics for its time, and because there's a multiplayer mod. The third just feels like a reskin with some dynamic destruction and a few JC2 mods turned into standard features.
>>
>>332060343
Except it's not generic at all. There are hardly any other games like it.
>>
>>332059681
But anon, piracy hurts sales :^)
>>
I feel like nobody cared about JC2 until the multiplayer mod came out
>>
>>332059681
Second one had a massive map for its time, optimised out the ass to run on toasters, cheesy 90s action movie like story fitting with the explosions every minute gameplay and the interest was extended by mods, secrets and the low sale prices.

The 3rd one was broken on anyone that had an AMD card (and might still be), probably has less mod support, less features than fully modded JC2 and runs like shit.
>>
>give it all the cool shit modders made for just cause two, really simple features that should have been there to begin with

>slap a disgusting vignette filter on it, darkening the corners for ebin movie experience, along with it being stupidly over saturated in color, and cheap shit like so many flowers in fields that they have to set their render distance low so you are god of flowers raising them from the ground wherever you go

>don't even bother optimizing it for SLI at all

Fucking cheap idiot assholes
>>
>>332061540
>>slap a disgusting vignette filter on it, darkening the corners for ebin movie experience, along with it being stupidly over saturated in color, and cheap shit like so many flowers in fields
So literally exactly what they did in JC2 word for word?
>>
I love this game, have thirty hours, but simply put its probably because there is no engaging content. There is fun stuff to do but its all the same and nothing is especially interesting to talk about at length. Its not exactly complicated. Add to that the complexities of the PC market and the fact that it has performance issues even on consoles.
>>
Just Cause is a bargain bin franchise.

I dont mean to sound offensive, but that's just the state it has always been in. It doesn't attract the kind of audience that other bargain bin franchises like Saints Row attract.
>>
No demo and the widely circulated performance issues stopped many people buying it.

Now it's completely dropped off the radar and the only way to know if it will run on your machine without throwing £40-60 at Steam is to pir... oh wait.
>>
Instead of building upon JC2 they remade it with slightly better graphics and shit optimization.
>>
>>332062124
Agree but I'm pretty sure JC2 sold more than any saints row

>open world sandbox third person action games
>except this one lets you grapple hook and fly
>list of third person action games with gimmick-tier movement mechanics

- sunset overdrive
- infamous second son
- far cry 4
- assassins creed: whatever just came out
- batman arkham knight

and this is just a list of games from the past 3 years that i could actually remember. just cause 3 was a boring repetitive piece of shit with a gimmick they didnt expand on enough to make it a selling point. if you played just cause 2, youve pretty much played just cause 3 with worse graphics...

oh wow, give me $60 now for a copy of this, i mean sequel to this post. its the same thing but with a tiny bit more effort put into the grammar.
>>
>>332062137
Pretty much. My PC is decent, but not great. I'm not dropping 60 dollars just to have it run like shit.

And more to the point, it just looks like more of the same. Kinda boring, I would have hoped they made the game more engaging.
>>
Or... you know... it might be because it's so unbelievably un-optimized that people played about 20 minutes and then uninstalled the game?
>>
>>332062517
None of those games are anything like JC3.
It's a third person open world shooter in a tropical setting with vehicles.
Your list is really stretching it. It's far from generic.
>>
>>332062707
>actually believes setting actually matters to how the game plays
>uses vehicles in a just cause game

you are a special kind of stupid arent you

that whole "settings matter" meme is so fucking old and broken.
>>
>>332062575
>games don't sell if they're unoptimized
Tell that to GTA 4
>>
JC3 is a very good game. But it missed launch because bugs, and is still poorly optimized. 16/20
>>
>>332062878

That's not what OP's thread is about. Read again.
>>
>>332062878
It was another time, and rockstar has a free pass since they're so big.
>>
>>332059681
>I believe it's because of Denuvo. Since it didn't get cracked, it didn't get the word of mouth of millions of pirates and that's what killed it.

but that didn't happen with mgs5
>>
>>332062867
>conveniently forgets the SHOOTER part
3 out of 5 of the games you listed aren't even shooters. You are fucking retarded.
>hurrrr it's the same game if it's in third person and there's... action
Kill yourself shit for brains.
>>
>>332059681
The only reason it's popular in the first place it's because Just Cause 2 was on sale for like $1 all the time and people were surprised when it wasn't complete garbage.
It's still a sandbox where the only thing you do is blow shit up, and that gets old really fucking fast.
>>
>>332062934
>games are forgotten or are unpopular if they're unoptimized
Tell that to GTA 4
>>
>>332063113
They are when optimization was one of the few things it was popular for in the first place.
It's just Just Cause 2 with bad performance and wingsuits.
Not worth more than $10.
>>
>>332059681
Well it wasn't exactly the best port in the world, and people with anything short of a 970/980 weren't able to even get 1080p 60 fps on low settings.

Some of the patches have improved performance and loading times but even then the game isn't too special. Maybe it needs a multiplayer mod as well but I don't know if it can be done with Denuvo installed on it.
>>
>>332063242
They needed to ask Avalanche for a tool to bypass Denuvo, but I don't think people even care anymore at this point.
Just like Mad Max, one of the most forgettable games of 2015.
>>
>>332060717
Just Cause 2 was highly similar
>>
>>332063006
MGS 5 got cracked quickly though
>>
>>332059681
The game runs like shit on consoles. Thats why no one gave shit. The framerate drops to 10-15 during firefights.
>>
>>332059681
no, it's because it's a badly made MMO repackaged as a single player game.

Square Enix is literally retarded and deserves whatever death comes for them.
>>
>>332063740

It's okay when Rockstar does it
>>
>>332063836
I would play a single player FFXIV
>>
>>332059681
>Please stop using denuvo so I can pirate your games mister developer!
the post
>>
>>332064319
I would personally use denuvo on release but remove it after a few months when it doesn't matter anymore and word of mouth still has an affect. Plus people would suck my dick because I'm such a consumer friendly dev for doing that.
>>
>>332064606
>pay out the ass for denuvo
>disable it after a few months
>implicit condoning of piracy

Good luck selling any copies after you come out and say "please pirate my game, I'll disable denuvo for you to make it easier".
>>
>>332064747
Draconian DRM does other things beside stopping piracy, idiot. It affects games negatively.
>>
>>332059681
I'm actually just waiting for a multiplayer mod or something like that before I buy it.
>>
>>332064895
Then don't use it in your games. Using it then disabling it is a sign that you are fine with people pirating your game, and they will then do so almost exclusively.

Also I'd like a confirmed source that Denuvo effects the games it's used on negatively.
>>
No, the reason why Just Cause 3 was forgotten was because of exactly that, it was completely forgettable.

It was nothing but more Just Cause 2, released in a time were people had already gotten their fill of Just Cause 2, and were Just Cause 2 wasn't very impressive anymore.
>>
>>332065103
>Using it then disabling it is a sign that you are fine with people pirating your game
Or maybe it's a sign that you're listening to the consumers who are asking for it to be removed? Removing DRM doesn't mean you're condoning piracy. Does CDPR condone piracy? They remove DRM from games all the time on GOG.
>>
>>332062454
Because it was 2,50 all the time
>>
>Can't pirate the game

Baawww the game is boring repetitive shit despite me having played it!!!!

Bawww someone on youtube mentioned this one minor complain so the entire game is shit!!!

lol stay mad pitatefags :^)
>>
It's shit. They patched it and now it runs locked 20 fps.
>>
>>332065554
I haven't played it but it does look like shit. Maybe if I could pirate and try it I would buy it.

:^)
>>
>>332065103

There is no source, Anon. Piratefags are trying to give Denuvo a bad name thats all.

When I was away from home all I had was a laptop with me so I installed MGSV on it and it ran on high at 45-50 fps.

I wasnt even aware it had Denuvo until some retard claimed it made the game run sluggish when its actually really optimized.
>>
It did some things well, but in the end it just didn't offer enough. Nice to play while listening to podcasts, but in the end the lack of mod support will render it much more short lived than 2.
>>
>>332065689

Then go ahead and do it?

Oh that's right :^)
>>
>>332065886
It's not all about performance retard, it encrypts files so it makes games harder to mod.
>>
>>332065689

Steam has refunds now, dumb piratefag.

Oh that's right, you idiots don't have money to begin with so you can't even do the initial transaction.
>>
>>332059681

It didn't sell because it's the exact same shit as JC2. And everyone learned JC2 is a pretty shit game that you buy for like $2 just to dick around in and see a few explosions before never playing it again.
>>
>>332066081

>muh mods

Elder scrolls already has the best porn mods anyways.
>>
>>332066235
So can you just demo any game you want with a guaranteed refund? No limitations, besides 2 hours of gameplay?
What if I want to demo and refund like 3 different games in a row?
>>
>>332066235
>>332066525
>If it appears that you are abusing the refund system, we reserve the right to revoke access to this feature.

It's shit. You can't use it to demo games.
>>
>>332066525

Pretty much. Some Anon tried to abuse the system and found that after 15 games refunded in a row, they pause your returning rights for like 2 weeks to a month.

You can actually return as much as you want just dont make it so obvious.

I returned 3 games in a row during winter and they ok'd it.

You can even give bs excuses like, fps was too low or game was too hard.
>>
>>332066689

Anon, use common sense and don't be an idiot please.

Yeah try doing the same thing at walmart and best buy and see how that goes.

>B-but I was just trying these products!
>>
I don't think jc2 even sold well on release. The only time I saw people buy it was when their was steam sales and it went down to sub 15$
>>
>>332066827
Ok that's pretty cool.
Though I bet if more people get wind of this, devs will start pouring all of their budgets on the first 2 hours of their games.
>>
>>332067120

Steam hides the feature so casualfags can't refund for shit.
>>
I find the game to be a lot of fun, I also enjoyed Mad Max a lot. I don't mind the repetitiveness of the missions but I can imagine others would. Sometimes just flying around, messing with the physics and being an asshole to NPCs is great since I loved Spider-Man 2.

The optimisation is pretty crap, no excuses about it.
>>
>>332062707
Call of Duty 9 is unique and original, it has a dog in it. Anyone who says it's not unique is just stretching it :^)

JC definitely isn't generic but it's faaaaaaa~r from unique. There's a literal genre based off its formula of "Travel to place stylishly, fuck it up/complete the objective, go to other place in open world and repeat" thing.
>>
>>332067120
>Though I bet if more people get wind of this, devs will start pouring all of their budgets on the first 2 hours of their games.
Welcome to 10 years ago, that is already happening everywhere. Maybe not exclusively the first 2 hours, but there is definitely more attention towards the first half of almost any game than the second.
