So I've been thinking about getting back into pc gaming lately after a few years of exclusively playing consoles, and so i was looking for some advice/recommendations for my build. I just trew some stuff together quickly as a starting off point.

Msi980 ti 6gb
Msi z97 gaming mb
I7 quad core
16gb ram

How about you wait 2-3 months for some real dx12 cards retard
>>
well if you're going to buy everything new theres no reason to not get skylake imo. also at least hold off until summer for a 980ti. at worst the prices will go down and at best the new pascal 1080 will be better.
>>
>>332017441
Yeah I was wondering about that how long does it usually take for cards to drop in price after the new hotness is out?
>>
>>332017625
well since they arent releasing the new Ti right now its questionable but usually within the month to encourage moving out old stock. the 980 will most definitely drop but im not sure about the ti
>>
>>332017953
How big is the performance diffence between the 980 and the ti.
>>
>>332017314
Dx12...windows 10........lmao. what a tard
>>
>>332018203

It's not just dx12 the features on these cards also support vulkan I just say dx12 in general
>>
>>332017625
When the first new Pascal cards drop I doubt there will be a drop in price for 980ti cards. those are 6gb cards and are $600 buckaroonies. if they do drop in price at all it will only be 50 bucks maybe. I have serious doubts the first gen pascal cards will be much better than 980ti's in terms of performance and price.

a solid 15% across the board just about. actually playable fps at 4k it you turn down antialiasing and the like.
>>
>>332017152
Switch MSI for gigabyte and you're golden.
>>
>>332018369
Yeah I thought as much. Probably not worther waiting especially when those baby's are about 900 canadian fun bucks over here
>>
>>332017152
If you want to go overboard with the cpu and gpu, you might as well get 32gb ddr4 ram while you're at it.

980ti is a meme. Get a 970 and save 200 bucks. Or get 2 fir a little more
>>
>>332018783
What differences are there betwen the two especially for gaming purposes?

almost had me there

G1 has much better overclock and runs cooler and more silent.
>>
While I'm asking is getting a ssd for your operating system woth it?
>>
>>332019690
imo the boot times are fucking worth every penny. score a ~500gb one so you can throw some games on their too. fallout 4 is unbearable on an hdd.
>>
>>332017152
GA-Z97X-UD5H instead MSI Z97.
Which I7.

Make a fucking pcpartpicker list with your build.

>>332019690
Yes, a lot.

Im using a Sandisk SSD Plus and its a fuckhuge upgrade over the HDD.

And its a slow SSD in comparison to others.
>>
Is there anything I should be looking for specifically motherboard wise?

Depends on CPU.
>>
>>332019281
>pays 50% more for a card that gives 15% performance.

Seems like a good deal
>>
>>332020791
this is dependant on the game itself where you're seeing these benchmarks. Down the line with newer games you'll see a much bigger difference in that. the ti is going to have a lot longer legs given its a 6gb card. Don't be naive.
>>
>>332020496
Look for the pci ports it has if you are wanting to sli cards or have a network card
Look for the types of cpu it is built for
Look for it's actual size if it'll fit in the case you have
>>
Is I7 worth the extra price over the I5? I hear games are going to start using 6 cores should I just get a 5 now and in a few get a 6 core cpu
>>
>>332021618
No.
>>
>>332021618
The i5 4690 or better will do you fine.
It competes will with i7 counterparts in many tests
>>
Windows 7 or 10
