Both are complete and utter shit when looked at from today's standards, they're nothing more than glorified showcases for Gaben's stupid overhyped "technology", and this causes them to have absolutely no artistic or entertainment value in this modern era.
Half-Life

Half-Life 2
>updated engine
>better voice acting
>more varied locations
>vehicle sections, for better or worse
The first is still the best, followed by Opposing Force. Half-Life 2 is fine, but it doesn't feel like a Half-Life game to me. They both have their techy-show-off moments, but they are far more obvious and obnoxious in the second game.
Ravenholm can suck my dick. It's such an out-of-place chore.

Cooler weapons, more interesting enemies and environments.
I play through the first one once a month, can't say the same about the second
First one by a long shot.

I liked 2 better. :^) Dunno why, maybe it was the atmosphere. It was the first honest-to-goodness realistic looking game I played and I got more immersed in it than the comic book-looking HL1.

No gibs, weapons were bland, ammo was reduced to fucking nothing in order to enforce the players use of the gimmick gun. Have to fight nothing but humans, unlimited rocket and grenade crates instead of fight or flight. No living weapons bar maybe the pod, which sucks and is used for one chapter. Only two aliens, crabs and ant lions, even shark was cut out.
