How are those Japanese studies going, /v/? You want to play all of those untranslated games, right?
It's not possible.
Kana? Okay. Some vocabularies? Okay?
The grammar? Kanji? No way. no fucking way.
My vocab is fucking dogshit, I should know a lot more words.
My grammar base it fine though
>>331996167
The grammar is easy. Learn kanji as you Learn new words. It's more organic tjat way.
>>331996336
I can't, anon. I have given up. It's impossible. I hate to admit it, I really do...
But it's impossible. No way. Learning Kanji is not possible.
>>331995721
Nope, I gave up even before I tried
Enjoying Gundam Senki Record 0081.

I've been reading Yotsuba and I have JoJonium in the mail
Any other manga that would be good? Preferably with furigana but that's not super necessary.
Listening and speaking is easy. Just worrying about kanji now, really.
im going to be moving to japan for atleast a year to learn japanese
so, ill do it then
>its a japanese language discussion thread
>on /v/
Just got this in the mail. $16 for a new copy! With prime shipping!
Insane.
I have a hard time remembering grammar and I'm not sure if I'm even studying correctly. I'm just doing radicals + vocab + getting my reading practice from the sentences in core 2k/6k. I guess I should give it a month of this before I actually start to worry. I'll add the Dictionary of Jamaese Grammar deck to the mix, but the lessons are fucking in alphabetical order (obviously) so it's not like I'm reviewing the basics. I don't wanna read Tae Kim again, he rambles.
Any good Tae Kim Anki decks?

>>331996936
NHK ni Youkoso, Aria and Aku no Hana have furigana. Hell, you could try Zetsubou Sensei but many of the jokes would probably be pretty hard to understand even with furigana unless you've already read it once or seen the anime.

MEME LANGUAGE
Japan as a whole is one big MEME. Its a country which exists just to be a pseudo-ideal nation of beta nu males.
>>331996167
>>331996419
>>331997736
It's a meme, no one actually speaks it, it's all just a ruse cruise. Japan died many centuries ago.

Fuckin' a, I got that imported from Play Asia when it launched. That book is 100% quality. Got the english version as well
What games do you guys even want to play that aren't translated?

anime is for children, visual novels are for pedophiles, and there are no good untranslated games.

Would respond every time.
Just use VNs for Japanese practice.
You get
>text that works with text hookers, so you can import it into Anki to study if you see vocab
>usually get full voice-acting to hel pyour shit listening comprehension and pronunciation
>decent plot (sometimes)
>cutie waifus
>sex scenes if you're playing eroge

I just checked Anki a few days ago and the Core decks seem intact

Some of Falcom's Trails games. Being able to play the remakes with voice acting would also be nice.

For me, it's about discovering new books, manga, TV shows, and not having to rely on translations or subtitles to experience them.
There are games as well, but not too many.

Is DQ builders good if you're not into minecraft building shit?
>>331999706
Yeah, it's heavily story mode driven. It's more about carrying out quests for your fellow townsfolk, building little places like workshops, kitchens, onsen, walls for protecting against little raids...
Lots of explorations for optional stuff and chests.
You don't need Japanese to understand eurobeat and drifting.
>>331999948
Okay, I'll check it out then.
>>331999694
It's more like to know what people are talking about. It's extremely easy to bond with total strangers if you get the same references, so I'm watching various top 100 best movies rankings
Honestly, a global understanding of western culture is only possible through books, global knowledge of movies and series mainly help you to be a social chameleon
No, not really.
I mean there are a couple of things I want to play/read, but not enough to make me want to learn a whole new language and alphabet.
>>332000729
It's pretty fun. I had taken two years of German (much less useful to me) previously and had a great time. If there's an interest in the language, it can be fun to learn just for the sake of learning.
Part of me is only studying Japanese for the hell of it, because I enjoy the language.
Although having a reason or goal is also good.
>>332001076
Eh, the last time I tried learning something big or difficult I failed horribly and didn't enjoy it, so I probably wouldn't have fun learning. It sounds like a lot of work and a lot of time, and I don't have enough motivation to learn.
>>331998698
I wish Natsuro High School was cheaper. It looks like silly fun.
Dragon Quest Builders is hype on Vita though.
>>332001716
>It looks like silly fun.
Some of the girl routes (this is important, it's a Visual Novel with a mediocre sandbox side attached) are pretty funny and endearing. If VNs are your thing, get it if you find it cheap.
I learned the Hiragana, but I can't can't work up the motivation to learn the Katakana, it just isn't as fun.
Part of what makes it so unfun is that nothing sticks with the katakana, I really hate the style of the characters.
