3 was my favorite in the series, I played the games since I was a child, and MP 1 besides the story aged like milk. I have over 200 hours in Max Payne 3 alone, all single player. I just love everything about it.

Faster depletion literally means nothing when you can get it all back in a couple of seconds and the "tight responsive controls" come from the fact that Max has no weight or momentum, eliminating any sort of risk/wastage from using bullet time and shootdodging that the other two games have.
Also, someone else doing something isn't an excuse. Max Payne does retarded shit without compelling gameplay to make up for it.
