By the time the 3DS was released, the DS already had a substantial library of literally hundreds of games.
Meanwhile, Sony are rushing forward announcing a new console when the PS4 barely has 4-5 decent worthwhile games available.
If you bought a DS before the 3DS launch, you wouldn't feel nearly as cheated as someone who bought a PS4 before the PS4.5 launch. It's really that simple.
