Which only goes to show how pretentious that shit really is. On the old CRT displays, you didn't see pixels as pixels. They displayed more like a matte texture which blended the edges better. Those old games only look like modern pixel art on modern digital displays. Not that these artsy-fartsy assholes would know anything about what made old games charming.

Also because it's easier to make. Pixel art is just make the sprites and done. 3D requires modeling, textures, animation, lighting, etc, way more time consuming and harder to make.
