Starwing is one of those games I'm never gonna replay. Just that small intro in the trailer started to shake things up. When it comes to what I remember what the game looked like VS what the game actually was I'd rather keep my "OMG that game was amazing!" kid memories.

People hate it because when they wanted a sequel to StarFox 64 and instead got a knock off Zelda title with starfox characters tacked on. Not to say those are always bad. I don't understand the comparison of gyro controls to Splatoon, in Star Fox you're contiously moving in Splatoon you have a greater degree of control when it comes to aiming and movement, the lack of control when it comes to movement in Star Fox is what makes me skeptical of gyro aiming.

It's kind of cool how Nintendo is giving nods to Star Fox SNES. After they retconned it in favor of 64 they ignored it for a long long time, basically pretending it didn't exist.

The game doesn't really work without the gamepad. They mentioned that unlocking aiming from steering allowed them a lot more freedom to place enemies in odd areas, and all the levels are designed around that. If you played the game with them locked together you'd be unable to hit half the enemies. Also I'm convinced that 90% of the people who complain about Splatoon motion controls haven't played the game for even an hour (if at all), because they do work well.

Star Fox is my favorite SNES game. I'm really excited for Zero. However, we were told back at e3 that motion controls could be disabled, now it seems like motion controls cannot be disabled. If they can be disabled I will pay $60 for this fucking game, but if not I will wait until it's $20 or less.

Yes, i fucking loved 64 played the shit out of it still do. But holy shit, you can not deny that every time they said they would make a new star fox, the first thing said was wasn't "Why isn't it like 64?" and then when the game came out those 64fans wouldn't be satisfied and still ripped them a new one. Assault was a fine game and felt like what would be a proper next installment than adventures and yet you still have those fans bitching about the on foot levels and how the whole game should have just on rail flight missions. 64fags are the reason why Star fox was never really allowed to do anything new.

Pretty sure Assault is highly regarded, but most people here and online haven't played it because it came out at the end of the GCN's cycle with little fare. I sometimes forget that it even exists.
Everyone remembers Adventures because it wasn't even a StarFox game and was a flagship for the GCN. So it's hated.
