There are countless Sigmas across timelines and parallel universes but each Sigma is controlled by a singular consciousness that is immaterial and located in the Morphogenic Field or otherwise outside the physical universe. This is true for pretty much everyone. Sigma's jumping abilities are less about time travel and more about sharing and withholding memories and personality.
When people say Akane is ageless they're just saying she has access to memories and experiences each Akane her consciousness controls.

Yes, Sigma's conciousness can jump through time, but that doesn't mean that the future and the past can happen at the same time.
It just means that Sigma (yes there's only one Sigma, not two doing different things at the same "time") is experiencing the timeline out of order.
If Sigma manages to create timeline E during the events in ZTD, then VLR doesn't exist anymore in that timeline.
There would no reason for the old conciousness to jump back to the future anymore. It can just stay here and experience the happy new timeline E.
At least that's what makes sense to me.

Young Sigma jumped back to April 2029 then aged 45 years then came back to December 2028.
There's no obligation for the one and only Sigma who succesfully created timeline E to jump back to 2074 in the VLR timeline to "close the loop", the whole point was to create a new exit, the loop doesn't matter now that timeline E exists.

I just starting playing 999 last week and have gotten most of the endings.
Goddam Lotus is perfect. The first time you play through the game, you assume she's just a dumb whore because she's dressed like a slut and says bitchy shit.
Then I got to pic related section. The part where she's just casually bullshitting about how neuroscience could be fucked while hacking the computer was great. Junpei couldn't even follow the conversation and then at the end he asks her if she even believes any of that crap and she's just like "nah, i just like thinking of shit like this when I'm bored".
Then when you go back and hear the rest of her dialogue she seems less like a bitch and more like she's just trying to be pragmatic/logical (with some exceptions).
My only complaint is she's supposed to be a 40 year old mother of two office worker but her character model looks more like 28 year old sex machine.

I really enjoyed them, I thought some of the plot twists were silly, sure (mostly the moon one) but as mystery/sci-fi games/novels, they're great. 999 was a little smaller in scale and I felt it kept my interest a little better, the horror theme was stronger and the puzzles were a little better. I found in VLR I would get stuck on puzzles a lot more often due not to difficulty but more missing objects or clues. That said, I liked the characters in VLR more, and I also liked that three of the characters didn't effectively get removed right at the beginning of the game. The twist at the end made a little more sense logistically than 999s. I almost feel like it went on a little too long, and it lost the effectiveness of the horror about halfway through for me. I'm so glad I played them though, I really doubt I'll ever a game with a story I enjoyed more.

Yeah shit like IGN and Kotaku made the series explode in popularity. While it brought some unwelcome change into the fanbase, popularity is the reason we are getting ZTD so I can't be mad. But I'm certain there's a part of the fanbase that haven't even played 999, and just zoomed through VLR because they wanted to get quickly on the bandwagon to feel like they are part of something special like operation bluebird. "WE made this happen bros!" Some people love being hyped more than actually playing the games they were hyped over.
