Mario Maker, which should have been fantastic for all sorts of reasons, doesn't have faithful physics or gameplay to the originals, is missing features and objects, no slopes for some braindead reasons, arbitrary limitations, no overworld, no multiplayer, and full price.
If it had those features I wouldn't have minded paying full price. But Nintendo only cares about selling to people who like the idea of Mario, not people who actually liked the old mario games.

Calling Mario Kart a rehash is a bit of a cheap move I agree. It's more applicable to 8 then any other however. The roster is shit, it didn't breath new life into the series like the one on the Wii by adding something like Motorcycles. The quads that were added weren't that great, and the bumbing into each other mechanic doesn't really add much of anything to the game. That alongside the fact they ruined battle mode made me not adore the game as much as other entries.
That all being said, it still looks and plays fucking great. It's still good clean fun like a Mario Kart game is suppose to be.

I guess I must be a different person because I have a Wii U and played Tropical Freeze, and the only thing I remember in TF was the music in 3-1.I don't even like DKC2 all that much either. TF was probably better, but I find it an ever worse crime to be so bland that you don't remember anything apart from an early trailer you watched 4 times before release.
It's been 4 years since release, 5 years when the NX comes out. That's honestly not a bad console turnaround.

I think maybe you're just not a fan of DKC in general, which is fine, but as a DKC fan I think TF meets the standards set by the original trilogy. Levels are all unique, the game can be gorgeous sometimes, and I only played through the game once so I don't remember too much of the music but I like Wise's music.
