I was trying to buy a whip once a long time ago when I had lost alot of money due to unfortunate circumstances in Falador W2. But my offer to buy a whip consisted of numerous valuable items, including a sizeble sum of cash, and some trash items to make up the last bit to reach the market value of the whip aswell. I had been trading tons of people and putting everything in the trade window like a hundred times, I had been trying to buy a whip for many hours now.
After a while, the entire process became automatic for me. As soon as someone traded me, I quickly put up my gigantic list of offer to buy a whip and pressed accept trade, not paying much attention to what was in the other box during the trade because I was so used to seeing a whip there.
And then someone finally accepted, I was so excited I quickly confirmed the trade, I open my inventory aaaaaaand nothing. Oh there was something brown in my inventory, but it was not a whip, it was a bucket.

RuneScape died when the G.E came out. The community and interaction between players is what made RuneScape, those days are over though... I miss them so much. I grew up with a hard and grindy RuneScape where community and friendship actually meant something, not to mention the same was simply better because achieving certain levels in skills actually meant something because it was grindy and hard, almost all the content in the game was relevant somehow.

Sure RS lost most of its members when EoC came out, but the community died with the G.E because interaction between players was now no longer necessary. You no longer needed to contact your friend you know can make a certain potion, you can just buy it from the G.E, you no longer needed to go to W2 to sell your Barrows or Slayer loot, you just needed to go to the G.E. G.E killed the community, and EoC finished the game off.

GE didn't kill the game, but centralizing the game (the only important location is now varrock) really killed the sense of playing a busy MMO. You never see more than 2-3 people in other cities besides varrock anymore because it's the only place you need to be.
If there were GE access from every bank or multiple GEs to trade different types of items then there would be no problem.
If you want to know what killed runescape then look no further than the god war dungeon. It was the beginning of tierscape and nobody saw it coming.

I actually believe that once Revolution hit, is when EoC became truly good.
Setting up your bar for your character to automatically use basic abilities in a certain order works fucking wonderfully, and is a really nice medium between the auto attacks of old, and the combat strategy of new. It makes combat super enjoyable for me, whereas EoC at first was too much of a hassle for long and boring slayer tasks, and auto attacks always felt so uninvolved.
I really think it's perfect now.

I a Player Owned Shop system akin to Neopets would be rad as fuck, paired with a Merchanteering skill that had a literal fucking sink in every bank that you could just pour money into for XP to level up.
You could search for the item you want to buy, then search through shops to find the one with the lowest price or the amount you want or the player you like to buy from the most for whatever reason.
You could set items into your shop and hope someone notices them senpai, but obviously if you want to get rid of something quick, you'd either do it by hand, OR you could, with the help of the Merchanteering skill, make little dispenser vendors that you could place-down in-world. Want to sell a shit tonne of Rune Essence? Fill up a dispenser vendor and bring it to a rune altar, so people can just stand there and buy from it while crafting their runes. People could link to a coal dispenser, bring an inventory full of adamantite and treat the dispensor like an extended inventory, paying for coal as they smelt adamant bars.
You could set down food near tough enemies. Use Construction to build a shop, Recettear.
Maybe there'd be tax mechanic where 15% of money "goes to the Merchant's Guild" for use of the magicks that go into dispenser vendors, so people wouldn't just abuse it for friends or group activities. Maybe the tax would rise or the things would be disabled altogether depending on the area (like gwd boss chambers).

Tiers are basically where any weapon at the same level essentially does the same damage. Passive effects and special attacks may be different, as well as prayer bonuses or set effects, but that's the general gist of it. Abilities scale their damage done based on how slow or fast the weapon is. Slow weapons with huge damage do less of the weapon's damage because abilities can use them instantly, scaling them to be the same as fast weapons with low damage, which do all of their damage because they attack fast.
i think the grand exchange is a good feature and was glad when wilderness pvp was removed

The map is literally Freneskae recycled with some bridges and minor tweaks (I don't mind it too much on its own, but it's just another indicator of their lack of involvement), fucking ZAAAAANIK'S FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE, the whole plot was shit tier and did NOT live up to The Chosen Commander.

My favorite quest by far was the first grandmaster quest where you unlocked tormented demons. If you beat the quest around release, it gave you an item worth 10 million. The story was cool and it was probably the hardest quest to date.

A full inventory of Signs of the Porter V, a flask of Perfect Juju Mining Potion, and I can stay mining gold for aeons. In regards to PvP, Melee was overpowered as fuck, and magic was only viable with high-level ancient spells. Range sucked ass unless you had some sick enchanted bolts and even then melee armor would protect you from most damage.

It really happened around the time of The Chosen Commander. It was after that quest's dialogue and plot that that I wrote a shitty article on Tip.it/runescape called "the nature of names" where, from the perspective of looking at your character as an entity separate from yourself, it felt weird that some people would name their characters "poopmaster69" and go into quests and be referred to that by NPCs.

It's not that bad. You don't actually deal reduced damage, just reduced accuracy.
If something is weak to magic, you get a .9x multiplier to hit chance for using the right element, and .65x multiplier for using the wrong element. In that vein, if something is weak to magic, its style is treated as melee, in which case if you use melee against it, you're not that much worse off than using the wrong element against it, about .55x accuracy multiplier. What's bad is if something's weak to magic and you use ranged against it, to which it goes down to .45x accuracy multiplier.

Seren really seems to have a skewed opinion of Zaros. I always thought she might come off as sort of nice and motherly, but she comes off as sort of vindictive and emotional.
I mean, I know she means well, but Zaros in person just doesn't seem to fit with how everyone else interprets him. He comes off as having made mistakes and growing from them, despite being a transcendant being. His empty promises seem to weigh on him and drive him ever forward even while he sees them as his greatest failings.
I wonder how much he is aware of Vindicta. She seems aligned to Zaros, but that doesn't guarantee that he is fully aware of her existence.
In the end though, Azzanadra being a really cool dude was a really big part of what won me over to Zaros. Although currently while I would say I'm aligned with Zaros, I want to try to go for the angle that "I'm helping / working alongside Zaros", rather than being a Zarosian follower.

A part of why I like Zaros is how similar he feels to Guthix. Frankly I can understand both their views, especially with how mortals seem almost drawn to the worship of Gods.
I personally always felt the best approach would be to edit the Edicts of Guthix, rather than breaking them altogether, building a world where people are free to choose to devote themselves to a god, but are also encouraged to try and find their own way, and that the Gods would have the right to have presence in Gielenor, but that their activities would be restricted so as not to be so destructive.
I was kind of upset that I couldn't choose the middle route in The World Wakes regardless of the outcome, but I don't regret siding more with the Zarosians in that altercation, even if I did have Death and Valluta fucking me up as I went down the path.
Honestly the reason I didn't align with the Godless is because Kara-meir really hurts their image for me, and despite the icyene woman being a really good argument for not hanging around Gods too much, I think it pays to keep in mind that not all Gods are like Saradomin--conceited with a bloated sense of self-worth.

Basically, while most Gods we know of are "ascendant beings" meaning that they were originally mortal and came into godlike powers through one way or another, Zaros is a "transcendant being", having been made a God from creation by an Elder God, along with his sister, Seren.
Zaros is the God of Control, or the God of Fate. He believes that everything in life, good and bad, should be used to forge one self, as fuel to drive yourself forward and ever improve. He states his philosophy as being "where Guthix believed in balance of the world, I believe in balance of the self." Originally, his empire would have included every being willing to go under his banner, from demons to humans to whomever, he would have welcomed all. As such however, some of the crueler creatures, particularly demons, gave him a reputation by proxy of being evil and terrible by their deeds.
He's always wanted the people under his banner to aspire to greatness, but he hasn't always made good on his promises to help them, which has left some people soured towards him and weighs on his mind as his failings.
After the expansion of his empire fell apart, he took a different stance and felt that it would be better to work from the shadows. Instead of pushing people to join him, it would be better to coax them in a direction that would lead them to greatness.
He believes, like Guthix, that the world should belong to Mortals, but unlike Guthix, believes that mortals cannot help but feel drawn to Gods to follow, with the exception of few that have achieved a balance of self and do not NEED the guidance of gods, such as the player.
His current goal is to attain enough power to ascend further, into Elder Godhood, to speak on equal terms with the Elder Gods on behalf of mortals and avoid "The End of All Things" or "The Great Revision" where the universe will be reset as the Elder Gods consume all of the Anima Mundi and reincarnate to build the universe anew.

No, Guthix was also an ascendant god, but due to sleeping for so long to grow in power from being within arm's reach of some Elder Tools created by the Elder Gods, he grew in power to be equal to Seren or Zaros in existence.
There are currently 6 Elder Gods, 5 of form, and 1 of else. We know very little of this one of else.
The Elder Gods are Jas, Bik, Mah, Ful and Wen.
Bik is LITERALLY THE ISLAND OF ENTRANA, MATA-NUI STYLE. Currently, all of the Elder Gods sleep under Gielenor, absorbing Anima Mundi passively.
Jas created the Stone of Jas, also known as "The Catalyst", to which supreme power and knowledge come to those who touch it. It was designed as a tool to aide in the construction of worlds. On the flip side, every time someone who is not Jas touches it, The Dragonkin, a race who were bound to the stone, become more powerful and more enraged to the point where the only way to quell the pain and madness is to wreak destruction upon the land. Entire worlds have been ravaged due to overuse of the Stone of Jas. Sliske is currently in possession of it, and is hosting the Sliskelion Games, counting the battles won between different factions and the Gods' scores / kills, to see who will be the one to win the Stone of Jas. Nobody knows what the fuck his endgame is.
Basically what the Elder Gods do is, they're born, they make worlds until they figure out how to make a "perfect" world, then they sleep in that world until there's enough Anima Mundi to consume to reincarnate and start the process over. This kills everyone and everything in the current universe. The issue however, is that they are pretty much unaware of mortals, or "conscious life", in the same way that mortals are unaware of microbes under normal circumstances. Things like flora and fauna come into existence around and thrive from the existence of Elder Gods, and in turn generate Anima Mundi. The issue again is that they wake up too early and there's less anima every time

The game was good because it was simple, but there was so much to do on a meta-level because of the players (luring, group efforts in the forms of clans, mass trading between players) and the combat was simple such that it took a lot of luck, so teamwork and coordination were key in anything that wasn't 1v1.
Also, plenty of quests, and the game had lore but kept it cryptic and never took anything seriously. If they gave magic and ranged a boost and gave a little more variety to the combat it would have worked fine, no overhaul required.

You can put perks on it, like 2-10% higher chance of catching fish, 5-15% chance of obliterating the fish with heat for double experience.
Basically it's an augmented tool, so you can gain Invention experience while skilling as the tool levels up.

Then they overreacted. The times were a little bumpy with EoC, but it improved over time and continues to improve. Revolution in particular is a fantastic medium between the old and the new, to the point where Jagex has finally set it as the default style when newbies start the game.

Revolution is when the first nine slots of your hotbar will automatically fire off in combat, in order of availability after cooldowns. It's limited to basic abilities, but that's fine.
Which means that you can set up a bar that will basically do combat all on its own. Thresholds and Ultimates are basically like Special Attacks were in the old days, just with greater variety, plus Special Attacks are still around.
It is plain and simple better and more fun than the old system ever was. I actually enjoy combat now, whereas I used to tolerate it.

Zaros wants to "guide mortals" AKA forcing everyone to worship him because if we look back to when he had power over Gelinor that's what he did.
