It's decently easy to pick up, especially from tekken. It's got quite a few mechanics, but once you pick them up, it flows quite well. I'd definitely recommend it if you don't mind the Pokemon aspect.

I feel this is one of the easiest games to make a comeback, due to the phase shift mechanic preventing shit like 0 to death combo strings, high damage output of most attacks and HP regen being a thing. Honestly I feel this game has even more depth than SF, not in the combo game, but the neutral game.
I know it's just because I'm new to the game but there's just so many attacks, and then when shit shifts to 2D there are even MORE attacks and suddenly up A isn't up A anymore but forward A, down A isn't down A but back A, and so on, then you have shit like every character having different stances with different effects, shit is just crazy
With SF characters just have a couple of really good poking attacks which is what they use the most, and 3 or 4 special attacks, that's it.
I feel like matchups in pokken are hard as fuck to learn.
