Any oldfags worried about kids and their gaming habits nowadays? I know the older generation has always been worried about the younger but I think there's going to be a tipping point with just how fucked the next generation is going to be, even at our most anti social we still had to leave the house to play split screen, these kids nowadays just stay in almost 24/7 with little to no real social interaction, we are going to see the weekest manchildren the world has ever seen in the coming few decades.
>>

>force your kid to play outside
>get them taken away for child endangerment/neglect
>>
This gen and the babies for the next gen are turning I to tumors already. We have more vocal faggots from tumblr, more game addicts, more sjw, femenatzis are more vocal, ect. The teens of today have gone pass cancer
>>
If the parents were as worried as they claimed they are theyd just limit or completely disallow tech access. But nope, its too easy and convenient for them to just let the internet raise their children. You know why? Because they had shit parents who had shit parents who had shit parents. Its a never ending cycle in some families. So if you allowing you kid to spend all day on their tech, thats cool, just dont bitch to me about it.
>>
>>331636941

Enjoy the decline.
>>
>>331636941
I love how everyone conveniently forgets they said the same shit about us when we were kids
>>
We shouldn't allow kids on the internet. They shit up this place we carved for ourselves. Youtube and twitch have shown how far the internet has fallen because of 12 year olds.
>>
The rise of streamers like Pewdiepie and Markiplier may lead to a large demographic of people who watch video games but do not play them.
>>
>>331637174
Yeah but this one is out of control
>>
Fucking lol at niggers who say "kids these days blah blah blah" as if every generation since the dawn of time hasn't been saying that shit

Yes, I am.

My 7 yo daughter play too much and almost hasn't friends.

But I played 14 hours tetris once and I almost didn't sleep. I closed my eyes and I saw the pieces falling.
>>
>>331636941
Get your kid enrolled in sports teams early on. Do outside activities with them a lot while they're too young too play video games. They will eventually fall for them, but if you make a good effort to get them involved in sports, they can still have other hobbies too.

That's why I said there's a tipping point, the culture of protecting kids to the extreme is getting worse with every generation, starting from the late 80's onwards, when the kids are eventually hooked on virtual reality and playing outside becomes a novelty are you just going to use the same argument?
>>
>not growing up doing competitive sports and climbing trees
>not planning to put your kids into competitive sports and trees
>>
>>331637415

Cool bro, so what can you do about it?
>>
What did they say when tv was released?
Did things really get worse? Of course.
But was it as bad as people said it would be? Nope.

Stop trying to predict the future. Just let it happen.
>>
>>331636941
Plus the games themselves make them weak, because you can only play once every 20 minutes, because you get free lives by waiting, so they get what they can get, and they're fed little lives by little lives, and then they'll become adults and they will live off welfare, little bills by little bills.
>>
>>331637495
Hopefully if I complain enough about other generations they will adopt my standards.
>>
>>331636941
I'm not worried, I just think the little pricks are shit-eating retards that pay $60 plus $120 of DLC for movies that run at 30 frames per second.

>playing split screen with your one equally autistic friend

vs.

>playing online games with myriad of people from all over the world

Yeah, real decline
>>
>>331637174

And they were right for the most part.

I was raised by the internet - but the internet was smarter, I had to learn technology to make use of it, which gives me my job today, it was all up to luck for me to make friends and to share a hobby with them, which today is done easily in one of the many hugboxes on the internet.

These kids will gain no skills bar maybe drawing furry porn, and have no friends because they considered some streamers or some reddit sub their friends.
>>
>>331637471

The world changes gramdpaw, if that's the social norm then no one will give any fucks that you prefer outside play to inside play
>>
Late 80's early 90s games: Required skill, have complex puzzles, co-op took place in the same room.

Modern kids games: freeware on cellphones aka tap screen to hear pleasing noises and see fireworks!

>Implying we didn't stay inside 24/7

Face it, lots of us did that shit, at least if we started gaming when we were young.

Now why must children play outside? What's the difference? Are you concerned about their physical health? If so, just try to get them to try different sports, preferably martial arts as it helps teach discipline on top of helping your kids get more fit, but always go for what your kids enjoy the most since the chance is a lot bigger that they'll keep doing it and have energy for other things such as homework and studies.

Doing boring shit just drains you and will make you perform worse when you have to do more boring shit ontop of that.

My little brother is 7 y/o and I'm pretty sure that he's fucked beyond repair now.
All he does is play Geometry Dash on his phone, watch letsplayers on a 50 inch TV and eat toast. Even though he's seven he speaks like a 4 y/o, even speaks like a one. He has no friends in school because the only thing he talks about is Mario and Sonic. When I tell my mother to stop feeding him toast she just hisses at me and tells me he wouldn't eat anything else anyways.
When he was born, I really wanted him to have a normal like unlike me but I guess it ain't happening.
>>
>>331637471
Im not going to play this fucking game of how "our generation is the best the new one is fucked blah blah" bullshit. You and I are both above this game my friend. What really needs to change is this trend of parents just dropping all responsibility and letting their kids play video games 14 hours a day 7 days a week. Of course kids are gonna want to do this shit, we would have done it if we had that tech then, its up to the parents to steer them in the proper direction. If you do nothing then nothing will happen.

It's a lot worse because, also, unlike the 80s and 90s hacker kids who had to develop some technical savvy and community to overcome the obstacles to having "screens as a hobby", these idiot boxes offer no intellectual challenge or reward whatsoever.

Computers have become worse than TV and in your pocket. Even "garbage" television used to have some semblance of a plot and skilled individuals and ego-driven executives crafting the content. These Let's Players are literally screaming idiots talking over cynically crafted Skinner Boxes.

Culture is dead. Society is dead. All everyone does is stare at screens. Personal computers were a mistake.

If this is how the new generation of kids are going to act, behave and interact with each other its counter productive to stop it and try to force them into what are technically 'old' and outdated ways just because you personally think it's better, even if it unequivocal is, kids are entering a cold and even more competitive world, unless you're going to go full nelson and raise them outside of city, feed them correctly with good quality food, bring them up and instil them with discipline, ethics and morals, then don't bother. If you're a middle class parent who's just trying their best don't even bother, unless you're going to do it properly and not half ass it then just allow your child to adapt to the new world, it's going to be better for him/her.

>>
>>331637990
Present your argument as an extreme and that's what you can expect in return.

Our generation wasn't the best, the new generation isn't the worst. Everything is shades of gray, but when you're hardwired into a certain mindset over the course of decades anything that opposes it is going to come off as negative. I'd honestly like to believe that a good amount of criticism like this doesn't really come from belief in the downfall of civilization or anything that grandiose, but more from an honest desire for the new generation to understand that the current social paradigm wasn't always the norm and gain some perspective from experiencing what we had.
>>
Most vidya, even the ones for children, are 100 times better than dumb, traditional sports.

I grew up in the end of the "pre-internet" era and can still remember how boring alley sports are compared to vidya. Don't let nostalgia fool you.

Kids today play tons of minecraft instead of, say, Lego because Lego is objectively worse. No kid would prefer a few real bricks over an endless amount of digital ones.
>>

Mesmerized by endless entertainment, some people just give up everything for it.
But it also is a great source of knowledge.

Honestly as far as surroundings go I had the luck that my parents moved to a freshly built neighbourhood, which meant that just like them - a ton of other starting families have moved there at the same time, so close a close knit community formed with them and just under my window there was always a ton of kids like me playing.

Now the same place is dead, the playground toys are all removed so "kids" dont smoke and drink there and there are no children whatsoever, since its people randomly moving in and away.

This fear for future generations is simply an extension of the fear of death itself. When you understand death is an unavoidable eventuality, it is less (although still) scary.

Ohh yeah, exactly the same issues when I was around 14-15, the bench was built into the ground though so no moving

I did the whole outside thing up until I was 12, shooting BB guns at passing cars with friends, finding things to catch on fire, trying to figure out how to blow shit up, riding bikes around the neighborhood, having water fights, playing tag and hide and seek, etc. But I logged into Runescape one day in 2004 about a month after my dad bought me a computer to type papers for school and I have lived a sedentary lifestyle without any friends ever since. I enjoy my life this way but I do think kids should at least do the other stuff first.

My main complaint is my hatred of cellphones, I'll spend 18 hours a day on the internet but I cannot stomach using a cellphone, much less watching someone else use one so on the occasion I'm away from the house I stay totally unconnected from anything.

We need an age limit on the internet, barring anyone who isn't 18 from going on it.

Then make it so that, if a parent just logs on for the kid, they lose their internet privilege too.

Back then I had a group of 12 or so friends that rotated whose house we slept over at, we played timesplitters, doom, CTR, tekken, goldeneye/perfect dark, whatever else we had

k that's a fucking lie. The internet is too easy? Making friends when you're younger is always easy, it has nothing to do with the internet, and has everything to do with how quick you are to accept people you've spent even a short period of time with.

Meanwhile now that we're old, and especially in this current antisocial generation, people are much less likely to keep talking to someone, there's no sharing of content anymore since its all out in the open on information aggregation sites like imgur, reddit, 9gag, 4chan etc.

There is nowhere to make friends online anymore, chatrooms are dead and replaced by text answering machines like facebook and twitter, the only thing keeping the dream alive are MMOs.
